The cast: Me..32, Husband 33, Son 10, Daughter 7.

3 nights at Hard Rock Hotel, 4 nights at Wilderness Lodge.

Day 1- My daughter had her birthday party the night before and we had 5 little girls sleeping over the night before we left. The good news is...they were all picked up by 10:00am. We packed our mini van up and left by Noon. After stopping for gas, we drove straight though (okay its just 2.5 hrs).

We arrived at HRH at 2:45. Pulled right up to the valet, they grabbed our bags we walked to the front desk for check in. They offered us an upgrade to concerige for $50.00. (The girl at the desk said that they were only 40% full for the week). We had a $125 entertainment rate, so I figured $175 for club level seemed pretty good...so we went for it. The bellman took us to our room. It was the very last room at the end of the very last hallway with a view of the parking lot. I normally do not EVER open up my mouth, but in this instance I felt that the only upgrade I was getting for $50.00 was club level...and it did not seem worth it, so I asked the bellman (Steven) if it would be okay if I went back downstairs to see about another room. He said he would take care of it. Steven then called down to the front desk, explained my disappointment of the room and got us another room. The only problem was it was in the exact same location just on the opposite side of the hotel. I still did not see the justification in spending the extra money...so I asked Steven if he would mind holding our luggage and I would go downstairs and see if I could get my regular room back. He insisted on helping me with this situation that I was just not happy with...he called downstaris once more..(I told him that I would be willing to wait for 4:00 or later) (now I am feeling really bad about all of this running around, but I knew if I felt like I wasn't getting my $$$ worth, it would have ruined my whole trip). Steven hung up and told me that a room just got released and he took us right to it!!! LET me tell you...I think this was the room they use for the postcards!!! OMG!!! the view was breathtaking..., it was the room directly over the Hard Rock Hotel Sign back by the pool. It was only about 4 or 5 rooms from the conceige room. It was PERFECT!! (I let steven and all his supervisors know how professional and helpful he was!!) from this point on I knew this was going to be an incrediable trip!!!

After unpacking...I realized that in my haste to get rid of everyone before we left...I forgot my sneakers. So off to the Milleninia Mall for a new pair of New Balance. Heather in Concerige was very helpful in me finding this place. So husband took kids down to pool while I went shopping. By the time I got back it was time for hordorves (sp) in the concerige so I grabbed some beers and went down to the pool to get my hubby and kids. The food was great..(Bon Jovi night), meatballs and pasta. Cheese and beer and wine. All very good. Kids ate tons. We went back down to the pool, I shared a burger with son and DH ate something at the bar too. Ended up going back upstaris to the BEST BEDS IN A HOTEL we have ever stayed in!!!

Going to IOA tomorrow!!!

Sounds like you got a fab room - what a nice way to start your advenures - thanks for posting!

I have to know - what is Bon Jovi night? I was freaking out when I saw BJ mentioned. My two obsessions are Disney and Bon Jovi.

It is the "theme" for the night...don't get too excited...hehe. They served pasta and meatballs on the club level. Each night was a different theme.
