It looks like a 7 Day Eastern cruise will work out best for us this Fall. Had always thought we would do the Western but that is not going to work for us. Would appreciate hearing some remarks (good and bad) about an Eastern cruise in mid-October.

THANKS, in advance for all of your help!

We picked the Eastern because of the extra day at sea and because one of the stops was St. Thomas. We were able to visit St. John and see where we stayed on our honeymoon. We took pictures of our kids in "our hammock."

We have sailed 4 times with DCL and the Eastern WAS our favorite.....first 2 days at sea to "unwind" then 1 at each St. Thomas and St. Maarteen...absolutly beautifun islands. Our Thanksgiving Western was good (2 stops at CC) and we are sailing Thanksgiving 05 again but DDs and DW agree.....Eastern was the best..........bad.....hurricane season.....

We've done the Eastern cruise the last 3 years in late Oct, early Nov and loved it. The weather is perfect, not too hot but perfect for the beach and it is much less crowded. We loved the Eastern because we love the extra sea day and since we didn't like St. Maarten we loved having that day on the empty ship. This year we have to go on the Western (we need to go the week that NJ schools close for a convention) and even though we are looking forward to a change I will miss those extra days on the ship. You will love the Eastern in October!

I loved the Eastern itinerary, but that 3rd day at sea was 1 too many (kids started getting a bit stir crazy). I'd suggest maybe 2 cruises (should be about the same cost if you can believe it due to the steep DCL premium on the 7 day cruises) - a 3 day on Disney to see CC and get the Disney experience (book the cheapest weekend and cabin category possible) and then a 7 day on RCCL out of San Juan on one of their mammoth ships to do the Southern Caribbean (which includes St. Martin and St. Thomas, along with several other islands).

Sweetspot.....you'll love the extra day at CC.

I think it depends on what you and your family like to do... Like snorkeling or other things..

We prefer the Eastern for the beaches, St.Thomas, St.Maartan are gorgeous...Not that the ones on the Western are not, just works better for our youngins...

We have done 1 Western, 2 Eastern, and due for #3 in September...The sea day is divine, and really a chance to relax at sea...Whatever one you do, will be heavenly.... :flower: :goodvibes

We don't get it Lampskies we are on the Nov. 5th Western. I was so excited thinking that we had it and it was available on our week. I shouldn't complain, we are lucky to get that week off each year so we can go offseason but I would have loved the 2 Castaway days over Key West.

Eastern is far prettier in our opinion, and the extra day at sea is great. We have done Western twice and Eastern 4 times. Probably wont bother with Western again, unless the ship changes destinations. But, ANY Disney cruise is great - especially if you havent been before. Nat :cool1:

Sorry Sweetspot, I assumed the "school days off" were for Thanksgiving.....that's why we sail Thanksgiving so DDs have less days off of school........ :confused3
