How would you travel from Boardwalk to the Poly for a 7 AM breakfast??

I would inquire about "character buses" which run from resorts early specially for guests going to breakfast.

Well that isn't something which happens all the time since it's not an official WDW policy and not every bus driver does this. Also the OP should know when the buses arrive very early at the resorts they are the regular scheduled ones that are for the Magic Kingdom. Plus those bus drivers would go out of their way by driving the guests to that specific resort, instead of taking transportation from the Magic Kingdom.

I would just budget for a taxi. Sure you *could* get there by WDW transportation but frankly getting up at 5:30am to make a breakfast just doesn't sound fun or vacation like to me.

This info is from the WL section of these DIS boards. I would think this would apply to all resorts. I have taken a very early bus for breakfast and it worked out fine.

"Character Breakfasts Service will begin ½ hour before the earliest seating. The marquee on the bus will read "Character Breakfast." It should be noted that guests should verify with the driver which park the bus is going to for the character breakfast because there are different ones for different parks. They have the flexibility to allow direct transportation to the theme parks, and area resorts.

If you want to arrive early to any park you could catch a Character Breakfast bus going to the Park but unless you have a ADR or other scheduled event you will have to wait until the Park opens to gain access."

Please take note that all times are subject to change. If you have questions regarding transportation within WDW you should contact Guest Services for additional information.

Seems to be a lot of incorrect info out there....so, there are early morning buses to the parks for the express purpose of getting guests from their resorts to those early breakfast ADRs and tours. The buses to the MK start about 6:30, sometimes a bit earlier.
You can take the MK bus, but be out at the stop by 6:15. When you get on the bus, ask the driver what the fastest way to the Polynesian is going to be. The driver may very well offer to drop you at the Polynesian after he goes to the MK.
The problem with ADRs before 7:30 is that the resort monorail doesn't start until 7:00 which makes it impossible to get to the Polynesian before that.
I guess the safest way is to take a cab. But, if the ADR were a bit later, I would have said to just go with the bus/monorail.
