7/9/11 - Summer Magic in the Med

Hi everyone!

We will be joining you all on the cruise! Seven of us will be traveling together for our first trip to Europe! My DH (Oscar), me (Angie), DS16 (Seth), and DS11 (Luke) will be on the cruise with my mother, father and brother. This will be our third cruise with DCL.



We do have some of our shore excursions planned with Disney, but we are looking for something to do in Palermo. If anyone has any suggestions, please help me out with this one!

Since you are the veteran with 12 cruises...need advice.
We loved our server and assistant server on our Baltic cruise last summer so much. We know for sure our assistant server will be on our cruise (we saw him on our New Years cruise) but are not 100% sure about our server...
Have you ever requested the same server from a previous cruise? We loved the server but really loved the assistant server the most and if we had to choose we want him if he is not with the same server...
Any words of wisdom?

Hi! Is anyone out there still trying to finalize Rome plans? We toyed with doing it ourselves, but have decided we would rather have a private guide and tour to keep things easy. I've only tried it once. We requested a certain server through our TA, but didn't get him because he is now serving in Palo. So - I can't tell you if it works. I don't think it will hurt to try. As you know - Disney loves to make people happy. I'd get the request in to your TA or to Disney ASAP. You could also look for instruction on where you can change your dinning assignments once you board the ship. Last time it was on page 2 of the Personal Navigator.

Yes - ours also states we've been on the 15 night Hawaii cruise. I hope we enjoyed it. Must be a bug in their system.

Absolutely loved Saint Petersburg. It was a real dream trip for me since I studied Russian culture in college and have always been a big reader of Russian history. Would love to do that whole cruise again some day.

That city ranks in my top three favorite cities including Prague and Rome. We have been down to Rome numerous times, but I always fall in love with it again and find new parts or rediscover old parts of the city.

Also, have a question for you. What do you think about starting a kid's thread? There was one for the Baltic Cruise last year and my daughter liked talking to some of the other kids before, and they even arranged their own Kid's Meet on the cruise.

Yes, I agree...my 15 year old has asked if there was anywhere she could talk with other kids who are going on our cruise beforehand. That would be a great idea!

I just found out about a trip thread (this site) a couple of months ago so did not do a Cruise Meet on the Baltic. You guys look familar to me though. We will have to figure out what excursions we were on and see if we were on any excursions together last summer. I look forward to meeting you guys (and all the others) on this cruise.

So excited now. Any chance of someone organising a DIS meet on board? I think it was mentioned a wee while back. As a newbie I don't know what's involved but I think it would be a good fun to meet up and hopefully an opportunity for the teens to meet up too.
Still haven't decided on my new camera -who knew there was such a choice? -I really only want a basic point and shoot but have now spent several hours researching on-line!!. My last camera was a pressie -so much easier

omg we are less than two months! this trips has always seemed sooooo far away, i best start thinking about things. like, buying luggage we need.

we are still having trouble making our final decisions on what we are going to do in some of the ports!

Hey all. Not sure what people are doing in Barcelona before or after, but I just saw on familyvacations.com that they have a three night special in Barca.

Www.familyvacations.com. Search for Barcelona. It is for about 450 usd and sleeps four people. Call to make sure they have availability before buying if interested. We use them for a lot of short trips around Europe.

spent some time yesterday looking up tour/excursion options for La Spezia and Villefranche. what do you think is the best way to get to Florence from the port? I emailed one tour company for quote and it was over 1200 Euros for the four of us for the day! yikes! that's a private car from port to Florence...sounds wonderful but too expensive unfortunately

what time will we be able to board the ship on the 9th?
