7/8 year olds Star Tours and Soaring

I have fast passes for my 7 and 8 years to ride Star Tours and Soaring. I also have a 3 year old so I can't (and honestly don't) want to ride with them. I pretty sure they won't let me go with them in the fp line because I won't have a fast pass and I'll have the little one with me. Should I be concerned about them making it all the way to the rides. Will CM help them along the way to make sure they don't get confused? Is there anyway to escort them at least to the second fp scan? Any advice? Am I worrying to much and they'll be just fine?

TIA

Soarin and (if memory serves) Star Wars are both cattle herding lines... Unless they stop in the line and get "cut" they should be fine to follow whoever is ahead of them... Most likely they won't see a CM until the FP check in and then when loading for the ride...

Thanks I'm also considering asking a family going in the fast pass line (if I can catch one) to just let them follow them.

Star tours they will be fine, FP is short and moves fast and there are CMs everywhere. Soarin even in FP takes a long time, and so you might get stressed about time away but they would be fine so long as they can wait it out. Suggest you do the nemo ride while you wait to relax with 3 year old, you could do that again with the older kids (the three year old will love it).

I would ask the CM where they let you into FP if you can accompany them through the line. I don't care how quick or short a line is I wouldn't let a 7 and 8 yo wait in a line anywhere without adult supervision.

If they are the only adults and have the 3 year old (who I assume isn't the height to ride), the parent canNOT enter the line with them since they'll have the under-height child.

OP, since kids can ride alone starting at 7, and therefore they are totally allowed to go through the lines and ride on their own, can you give them some practice being in line on their own before ST? Perhaps letting them go on Barnstormer alone first? I don't think WDW has anything like DLR...at DL I let DS get practice (and I could watch him almost the whole way) on Gadget's Go-Coaster, to see how he did when he thought he was out of sight from us, and if he got scared, etc etc. This led to us using SR for things like Radiator Springs Racers, but really came into play with some rides at Universal Orlando, where if you're 48" and also meet the height req of that ride you can go alone.

I would not send a 7 and 8 year old into a line by themselves. I would either get someone to go with you on these days that will take them or plan on them not riding things the 3 year old cannot ride. I thought a child had to be 14 to be in the theme park alone (walking through even a FP line seems alone to me).

You have to be 14 to enter the parks without an adult. You have to be 7 to ride a ride without an adult. Geez, do you really think kids under the age of 14 can't manage to get on a line without an adult? There are 2 of them, they'll be fine.

While Soarin in particular may take a while both of those attractions would be pretty hard for them to go astray.

Only you know your kids, their psychology, and the behavior you can reasonably expect from them so I'm not judging your response or saying it's wrong for your children. However, I would have no problem letting my 7/8 year old do the fastpass line with a buddy. It's a few orders of magnitude less dangerous than riding his bike around the neighborhood or walking up the block to play at the park with a friend. He's well enough behaved to have earned a reasonable and commensurate degree of respect and autonomy and while no place is completely safe the threat environment at Disney is within boundaries that I am personally comfortable with.

I think that the kids will be fine actually getting on the rides. It's a straight shot for both lines, and CMs will most likely ask them their age and watch them slightly more closely since they are only just old enough to ride alone.

However, as others mentioned, it could take a long time to get through the FP+ line and it's really about what you feel comfortable with; if you're the kind of person whose mind tends to turn quickly to wild scenarios, it might be scary.

I respect everyone's opinions and thank you for your comments. I personally comfortable with them riding alone. We went to Tivoli this summer and they along with every other kid in the park were in and out of lines with no problem. They have rode barn stormer and the Carosel and tea cups alone just fine. My concern comes from the fact that I haven't rode either soaring or star tours in quite some time and just don't know the mechanics of the fp line for those rides. For instance how some rides merge with the regular line in a less than orderly way that might confuse them as far as not wanting to break in front of someone.
