7/25/2013 Med. Mickey's 12 Night Italian Job - with Nice, Valletta and Dubrov !

We've opted for the Novotel which I know a few other DISers are staying at. We have a day and a half, so on the half we plan on walking the Ramblas, climbing Columbus monument and wandering around the port. On the full day we have hop on hop off tickets, and DH and eldest DD have tours booked for Camp Nou

Celestine

Might see you there Celestine we are arriving a day and a half earlier too and also staying at the Novotel, not long now!!

Hi Lynn,

I hope you don't have the 5 hour layover at Atlanta like we do. Gonna be a long day. Look forward to seeing you there.

I guess I'm presuming your on a Delta flight?

Hi,
We'll spend two nights in Barcelona but haven't lined up a hotel yet, my understanding is most Disneygoers will go straight from BCN to the Magic. Regarding Barcelona, in addition to hotels I would like recommendations on must see things in the city. Anyone?

Parc Guell is a lovely park designed by Gaudi, great to hang out and soak up some culture. The Sagrada Familia is obviously the iconic building in Barcelona and often high on peoples wish list although whether you just want a quick photo stop of to go inside is up to you. My husband and I are big sports fans (particularly football) so we enjoyed touring the Nou Camp stadium home of Barcelona FC. Barcelona really is a city where it is easy to fill up your time with cool stuff and even if you don't want to charge around sight seeing all day strolling up and down LAs Ramblas is a fun way to while away some time.

Enjoy

An 11 hour layover???:scared1:
Okay, I think many of us are going to be exhausted first day on the ship.
I've already warned my family that I'm setting the clocks to Barcelona time starting the weekend before we leave.

Well, we have been allocated out cabin.

No upgrade for us, cabin 5629 - good reviews on it and not too bad a position.

Working on the other half for a window! How has anyone else done?

We had already chosen ours (5513) LOVE deck 5. After reading the response from DCL about upgrades I am not holding out much hope of any pixie dust which is a shame but I still think deck 5 is easily the best deck to be on :)

We're in 7002. Anybody else on 7?

Generally, we have been on deck 2 when on the Magic. I like deck 2, but I'm ready to try other decks.
We didn't get to choose, they just assigned us. Looks like a good room.

We're on deck two this year. Was on 6 last time so we'll see how that goes.

This might be of interest to those heading to St Marks on a DIY day in Venice. This is the water bus, looks like it heads around the grand canal. Prices are 8 euros single and 15 return.

Thanks Mel
Great idea about the stadium tour. What about the Picasso museum? Also I understand there are some Neanderthal caves within driving distance of Barcelona although that might be more than what jet lagged people want to take on. We are in room 6305 BTW.

Okay, I'm sure I've seen it somewhere, but now can't find it. I know pirate night is Day 9 (Dubrovnik), but when are formal & semi formal nights? My planning is currently in OCD mode as we can now say we go on holiday next month!

Formal night is night 6 (sea day) and semi formal is night 10 (also a sea day)

We're going! Family of four. Very excited. Spending a couple of days in London before hand. And a day in Barcelona when we return.

Apologies. Tried to send PM but apparently I don't have enough posts to send a PM? Aaargh. Following is an add request for Fish Extender group.

First name of family members - Me: Debbie, DH: Jaime, DS: Nathan and DS: Garrett
Ages of children - Nathan (12) Garrett (10)
Whether the child is a DS or a DD - both DS's
Cabin Number (if you have it) - Don't have it yet.
:goodvibes

No upgrade for us either! We're also on deck 2. I was really hoping for some pixie dust since it was our first cruise but, alas, nothing. I'm assuming that the boat must not be full.

We are arriving at 8:30 am too on 7/24 but our flight is from Philly. We're planning on doing the "hop on/hop off tour" that day and doing Sagrada Familia and Park Guell on the back end. Although, I haven't done it yet, I'm planning on buying the tickets for Sagrada and the bus tour ahead of time.

Also, on Venice, you can buy a 24 hour and a 36 hour vaporetto (sp? - water taxi) pass for €20/€25 ahead of time. It travels the grand canal.

Looks like good times on Deck 5, we are there too. It is very unlikely a port upgrade will be in our budget.

Just remember there is more than one hop on hop off operator in Barcelona so if you pre-buy make sure you know which one you are getting - I know it sounds obvious, but have seen it in London where people are adamant that is what they have booked only to discover it was a different operator! There is a slight difference. We have gone with the one that has a stop at the Glories Agbar tower (or something to that effect) which is very close to the Novotel we are staying in
