7/25/2013 Med. Mickey's 12 Night Italian Job - with Nice, Valletta and Dubrov !

Hello everybody,

We've decided to cancel this cruise and take on a Med cruise next summer, due to 1. a better itinerary( Venice and the Greek islands) because we've been on 2 other western med cruises already :)
2. the incredible price difference (yikes !) and
3. a New version of our beloved Magic after the summer...

Since we couldn't resist we are going to abandon dcl for once and try HAL for the first time this summer, doing a Norwegian fjordcruise.

Hope everybody has a lovely time, and maybe we meet again next year !

Yes we have an offer to upgrade to an ocean view room for $579. At Disneyworld we would get offers while we were there to upgrade our room to a more desirable location, or a more upscale resort etc.

Wow, can I ask what room you originally booked? We have a gty 11b, but have been told it was $2,008 to upgrade to a 9c. This was only last week, so I would have been well miffed if we had done it.

Haven't received any offer though and wondered if maybe you have booked something different.

So sorry to hear this, we were looking forward to meeting up again. I know what you mean about the prices, especially if DCL are going to pull a trick like the one above! We had intended to book again onboard this time, so we may see you next year.

We have seen the HAL ships, one was docked right next to us in Venice a few years ago and it looked very impressive.

After looking at the ears after I posted it, I decided it needed to be enhanced, so I spent the last day or so working on it. I hope you like it.

I found a better scarf to use, so I added it, and left the old scarf there as well, giving you a choice,

Hi K8T,

We are booked for the July 5 2014 Cruise from Venice to the Greek Islands.
Maybe we'll see you all next year !:)

K8T,

We have a standard inside stateroom and the upgrade offer is to a 09C.

We are also booked in an 11b and no upgrade offer. I wonder if it has anything to do with how you booked? We booked through DU so the modify booking option is not available online and I wonder if any upgrade info would go to the TA? I keep looking online as there is still good availability on this cruise and I wondered if we might be able to upgrade at port?

I am a bit conflicted about that though as I am actually quite keen to see what a sideways inside is like and we LOVE deck 5 where we are currently booked.

Hi MikeandMela,

Curious to know if you went through a travel agent to book your cruise? Congrats on your upgrade!!

Sorry we'll miss you Meg and Walt! I agree next year looks awesome!

I finally got a reply back on the wine in port question....

Dear Jessica,

Thank you for your patience while we researched your request.

It has been determined that if a Guest purchases alcohol at a port of
call it can be brought onboard to enjoy. Please remember, as noted in
the previous email, a corking fee will be assessed if brought to dinner
to enjoy.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance with any other inquiries, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you and Michael in July!

Have a Magical Cruise!

ALSO, in an earlier email I asked about liquor brought to the table, and it has the same corkage fee. So, lemonciello from Sorrento... all around!

Hi, FYI - you can bring a flask to dinner w/ no problem or a glass full of your mixer with you.

Melcatfish and Jgura,

We booked early directly with Disney through their website. Maybe K8T's price was through a third party and included middleman markups? Mel, you mentioned a sideways stateroom, is there a difference in how rooms are laid out and does wave action affect how well one sleeps?

I know several people have booked the Venice ghost walking tour from Viator. What is the easiest way to get to the Rialto Bridge to begin the tour? What time would we have to leave the ship to make it there?

Thanks

We have a sideways room & love it. There's no more square footage but it is laid out slightly differently so it feels bigger IMHO. I'll see if I can find some photos & will post them later if I do

For anyone who has done a Disney excursion, do they give you a bottle of water on the coach or do you have to provide your own? :confused3
Just wondering if i need to bring an empty bottle with me

If this is not your first cruise the castway club gift usually has a water bottle in it. Some longer excursions give water but I would never guarantee it, and being summer in the Med what they give I doubt would be enough to keep you properly hydrated. I wouldn't bring an empty bottle, but would keep one which I buy out there - less weight to carry!

Just finished watching the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying highlights - can't believe we will be there in a coupe of months! Makes everything I've been reading start to make a it more sense.

Celestine,

This was the highlight, well for me the F1 geek anyway, of our last med cruise. You can walk most of the track and the pits will be gone but you can still see the tyre marks and axle markings. The best thing we found was le petite train which leave from the oceanographic museum and drives you around the track. Big kid time for me hehe!

Can't wait

Just finished working on our Villefranche plan last night & le petit train is in there purely for that reason!

I think this question can be best answered by those who've cruise and went to Venice before. I was planning to allot about an hour to get there. The tour starts at 8pm so I was planning to leave the ship no later than 7pm. I hope that's enough time.
