7/24/2011 5 Night Disney Dream cruise

mmtska, we have done FEs on several cruises but I promised my Dh we'd skip it this cruise since we are getting a full size rental and not a SUV. I always end up with a suitcase down and back full of FE stuff. We do enjoy participating, but like I said I promised my dh we'd skip it this time.

I just totally lucked out and got $79 Southwest flights for our return trip on August 2nd so I got $270 credit (we had one free flight for dh). I also got another $10 credit for ds10 and I each way for our Star Wars weekends trip in June. We now have about $450 credit from everything from our original bookings for both trips. I really hope that covers most of our flights in November!

I'm Danielle and will be sailing with my DH Derek, and my then DS14 Keegan and then DS10 Brennan. It will be our 14th DCL cruise and 1st on the Dream (unless we can squeeze another one in if any great deals come out!)

Please add me to the thread. we will be on the 7/24 cruise DW myself and 3DSons, 14, 10, and 7.....can't wait

Welcome! I have a son who will turn 14 by the time we cruise and my friend Beth's son will be turning 15 in the summer.

Wow that's awesome on the price for flights you got! I booked ours as soon as they came out thankfully, since they've gone up so much since then. I have been checking to see if they've come down more so we can possibly get a credit, but they haven't. How did you get the $79?

I check the Southwest.com site a few times a day. I work from home so it's easy to just constantly check it through out the day. We always rebook if a cheaper flight comes out to get the credit. Southwest lets you use the credit up to a year after first booking it.

Anyone going to be booking a new 2012 itinerary? We are getting quotes for Hawaii and one from NYC to Canada. I really want to get to Hawaii for my 40th next year but I'm not so sure about taking the boys out of school for that long. We can always go to Aulani. I'm glad to see some new routes though I'm not entirely excited about the NYC to Nassau, CC, and PC itinerary. I was hoping for something like Bermuda in there too. I'd rather just fly to MCO and do a Caribbean cruise.

Too funny, when I searched for the thread regarding Pirate Night & Semi-Formal night, part of what I was looking for was posted by DisneyMama:

On the 5 night Dream leaving on a Sunday -

#1 group - AP - EG -EG -RP -AP

#2 group - RP -AP - AP -EG -RP

#3 group - EG - RP -RP -AP - EG

Hope that helps!

I didn't find when is Semi-Formal, but one Dis'er did indicate that Pirate Night would be on Nassau night. I wouldn't hold that as true until a few of the 5-nighters have been completed (starting in May) since so many processes seem to be changing on the Dream.

thank you, not sure which group would be better to receive:laughing:, so happy to just be aboard! im still waiting for the new passporter to come out before i do all my homework on the new ship. really hope it's ready soon, have it pre-ordered on amazon, think it's been delayed once already.:confused3I borrowed the 2011 birnbaum's from the library, haven't had a chance to read it yet though.

We just paid off our cruise in gift cards from Sam's club. We got them for $98 something each for $100 worth of Disney gift cards and a $10 bonus for the Disney Store. We ended up with over $300 to the Disney store! It was really easy to pay online and we could do $1,000 worth at a time.

We just ended up adding 2 days on to our trip so now we are flying back August 2nd instead of the 31st of July. We saved a ton on airfare and got Southwest credits for changing dates. We have to change resorts (to Wilderness Lodge villas from the Jambo house club level) but it will be no problem and we get 2 more days!

congrats on the airfare! I have small SWA credit too now for Dec. trip. Just changed things around to save some points, BLT pre cruise to get that MK day in & we'll be @ jambo after the cruise just one night to squeeze 2 days in the parks.

i was coming to celebrate that i paid off my cruise today!!! Although still silver, can't book anything until the 25th.

Used CC for AirTran points and bought GCs @ GiantEage for $.40 per $100...now I have 2 different fill ups for 2 of our vehicles each time on my reward card

Hey BeautyFan --- found this info on the same thread I found the dining rotations --- just can't remember exactly where that was!

For a 5 day double dip cruise leaving Sunday:

Sun. - cruise casual
Mon. - dress up night
Tues. - Pirate NIght (special menu)
Weds. - cruise casual
Thurs. - cruise casual (special menu)

Hope it is correct!

hmmm, ok then, thanx! I don't want to book Paolo Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, now worried Wednesday won't be open - wah!

does anybody know what the 'special menu' is on the last night?

I didn't see this anywhere, but I thought I'd ask. Is there an interest in Fish Extenders? I've read about this, and I'm totally interested.....but not sure how to go about it all....

I still have the FE i made and would be happy to participate, easy when it's a smaller group imo = not much effort involved in distribution if just a few of us decide to participate anyway. Some pics from last cruise re magnets on cabin door/FE

Hi Everyone - Y'all have been busy here lately!!!:cheer2::cool1:

Welcome to all the new families!!!

Just popping in to do my "Paid in Full" dance...:cool1::woohoo::yay::banana::cool1:

Tricia - looks like you're the one in our bunch becoming the DCL pro - I'll be coming to YOU with questions!

Not happy with this boarding number thingy...hope this gets straightened out. So my window for bookings opens on Sunday...does that mean I pick my check in at that time? We are always at the port by 9 - I will be so sad to have to change our usual cruise day routine. Fingers crossed!:cloud9:

Have a great weekend, Everyone!:thumbsup2

Hey everyone! We are on this cruise, too! It will be me, my DH, DS(15), DS(12), DS(11), DD(8), and DD(3). I am so excited! I have been trying to book this cruise for several months now, but it have been sold out. I finally was able to get us onboard a few weeks ago....I am soooo excited!!!! :yay: I noticed several of you will be celebrating birthdays. My DH and I both have birthdays on the 7/26, and my DD will be turning 9 on the 25th. party:

Welcome Karen!:welcome: I have twin sons who will be 14 1/2 when we sail, and our nieces are coming, aged 4 and just ready to turn 3 around cruise time. This is our family's reunion cruise - Dad will be turning 75 on the 27th!

What are y'all doing about birthdays? I read on DIS today that you have to pay for a table cake these days (not that we need one, everyone has different tastes and we are always so full on our cruise). But I would like a rousing round of "Happy Birthday" for our Dad at dinner that night!:thumbsup2:bday:

My birthday is also 7/26! That's great that you both have a birthday on the same day! Do you have any special plans for that day yet?

What I've previously read and planned to do for the bdays is:
1. Tell Guest Svcs upon boarding about the b'day and request a cake at dinner on the appropriate night
2. Tell the Head Server on the 1st night about the bday and cake request and which night we'll be celebrating
3. Remind Head Server and our other 2 servers the night before the bday (depending on efficiency of the HS, this part is really just a precaution that the ball is not dropped)

Thanks DisneyMama! I knew I had seen this but couldn't find it on that thread the other night. If I recall, my pillow was calling...:thumbsup2

Okay, you are in charge of that. But I read on the main forum that there is now a price list for cakes...and frankly, I doubt we'd eat it (there's always cake on the dessert menu).

Registered for my arrival time today!:cool1: Got 10:30 - that was the earliest they offered. It didn't look as if an earlier time was available.:confused3 Read a report last week that the woman got there at her scheduled time of 11 and waited 2 1/2 hours!:scared1: I would be tres bummed to get on the ship so late!

This is what I planned to do, too. I hadn't heard about DCL charging for the cake. My DH and I don't really need it, but I do want to have one for my DD's birthday on 7/25. For me, just being aboard the Dream on our birthdays is celebration enough!!! :woohoo:

Just checked airfare for our trip (we had planned on driving due to cost) but now with rising gas prices I think we may fly! Found tickets on Southwest for $441 total!! :thumbsup2 Discussing it with DH right now.....I hate packing for a plane trip, but I really really hate that car trip!

No ....that was total for both of us.

Hi everyone - I can't believe it is almost time to pay in full and start booking:goodvibes. This is only our second cruise, so we have to wait until the 25 but still we can't wait. Lots and lots to do before then. MIL coming tomorrow for our DS18's final concert in Portland, so you know I am cleaning and wishing for some pixi dust to help:wizard: One more big college visit for DS out to Ohio on the 20th. Then he has to pick one and we have to start paying for college:scared1::scared1: I have been reading about the airfare, it is really crazy. DH booked a few months ago when it just keep climbing higher and higher but he checks it almost daily. Last night he saw that it went down so now we have a credit with SW. Figure with son going to college one of us will use it in a year. Hope everyone is getting excited for our cruise:woohoo::woohoo:

I was really glad to see SW prices drop yesterday! I scored $147 in credit....every little bit counts when you've got 7 flying round trip. :scared1:
Let's hope the fares keep dropping...
