okay ladies it's chocolate digestives and pontefract cakes today
We got ours for our last 2 cruises through insuremytrip.com too. I think we chose one of the Travelex plans too, but I can't remember for sure. I thought it sounded like good coverage for the price. We'll get it again for this trip after we pick up our flights next summer.

The Travelex-Lite plan was about $330 for our family of 4. We estimated what we thought our plane fare might be, added it on to the cost of the cruise and put that as our total cost for insurance. I didn't want to wait because I was concerned about pre-existing conditions being covered. Not sure exactly how it works but if you buy the insurance 7-21 days after the first payment on the trip (which I'm assuming was when I transfered my deposit from the dummy cruise to this one), then you can get better coverage for pre-existing conditions.
The Travelex plans received an A+ rating too . The Travelex deluxe plan was twice the amount and seemed to be more than we needed.
Of course they don't cover bungee cord jumping or deep sea diving below 130 feet so... you may need a more complex plan.
So any bets on whose going to get the last post on thread 1 ? and when are we going to be "closed down" ??
Thanks, I had no clue what they were either.
Although I had met someone in Telford whose last name was Pontefract.
When I first saw the pic I thought you were showing us a pic of Mickey.![]()

This is why I don't know them, I don't like licorice.
Morning Ballyhoo'ers!
I see that the boards have slowed down some. I'm on my way out the door as it seems that dd has today off, 1/2 day tomorrow and off again on Wednesday. Got to love these private schools and their scheduling!Totally throws me and my schedule out of whack.
OH! Real quick, DD ended her school's volleyball season on a high note - while they did not win at an Invitaional Meet, they did go up against the eventual winner and had to go into "sudden death." They ended up leading the whole game until the ref (minus 1 line ref) made a bad call. DD was going for a shot when she realized she was on the line so she let it go out. Course the ref was on the opposite side and so he called it in instead of out and that was the turning point. The girls held on to make it 28-26 (they lost) but at least they were jazzed as they play wonderfully by digging, diving and killing some of those sets.
My point to this story? DD was so excited that she wanted to join a "volleyball club team" and so we decided to go ahead and try out. The problem was that she crashed at 8 pm on Saturday was supposed to be up at 8:30 on Sunday and I woke her up at 10 am. Talked her into going and seeing if they would let her join regardless of the fact she was 1 1/2 hr late for tryouts. She and I jumped into clothes and sped over, she managed to put on her t-shirt from the invitational that she'd attended and we flew over to the school. Turns out, life really a big circle and its amazing how the little things are so coincidental.
Remember the t-shirt I mentioned? Well, they were not given - we had to buy them, so we did for the first time ever. DD wore it to add credance to the fact that she overslept due to the all day tournament. She even had the gumption to walk up to one of the coaches and ask if she could still join. She did and was allowed to. During a break, 3 girls were were at the invitational came up to her and that broke the ice for her. She made fast friends. So in talking to the coach, she asked about her school, found out she went to St. Paul and asked if we knew this one person. Turns out I did, turns out this girl mentioned to this travel coach that one girl's mother took pictures at all the volleyball games and voila! You have Kevin Bacon's Third Degree of Separation. So, later in the evening we are having dinner and we get a call, if we can commit and sign the paperwork next Sunday, we really believe she is in. So while it will be a bit expensive ($1200) its better than another one that will run $2500.One girl's father I was talking too said that his daughter's game improved 200% from one season and she was allowed on JV! Did I mention that volleyball is extremely competitive around here? Whatever floats dd's boat. The requirements are students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average, micro-manage their time and be able to travel to Vegas and FL if they make the play-offs so lets keep our fingers crossed that DD is accepted. She's a fairly good natural athlete that picks up quickly so we got a chance.
Anyway, she's home now glaring at me, I promised her a visit to the store H&M so off we go.

I bought mine within a week of paying the deposits as well, because then they can't give you any trouble at all about pre-existing . . . I did the same as you, put together the cost of the three cruises and estimated the cost of airfare, and then insured the total amount. Although to this point I have never needed travel insurance, I have always felt better knowing I had coverage just in case . . .
So any bets on whose going to get the last post on thread 1 ? and when are we going to be "closed down" ??
So Ballyhoo'ers whats for dinner tonight ??
We've got roast potatoes, turkey shnitzels and veg and it'll be ready very soon
I didn't think about getting the insurance within a week of rebooking, since I had no idea when we would be cruising, where, or how much it would cost. I called to buy the insurance a couple days after we changed the date, and found out that I was too late, because the date of deposit was when we rebooked onboard, not when we changed the date to book this cruise. So I figure now I might as well wait until we get our airfare and then pick up the insurance.
I know of at least 2 families that had to cancel for various reasons after the final payment was due. Thankfully, they both had insurance so they didn't lose out on anything.
I'm betting Pirate Chattylicious may have the last word on this thread!![]()
On our last set of threads, the mods were a little late closing down one thread, so one person got a coveted 4k pirate. We also figured out the running total of posts from all threads to see what post would be the 100k post. If I'm not mistaken, Carolyn pirated that one!
