I was thinking the other day, are we going to do tee shirts for our cruise? I think it was mentioned a long time ago, but not sure if it was decided.

What do you all think?

I was thinking of maybe ordering t-shirts. I found Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo when I was searching the internet on one of those sites where you can order t-shirts with your logo:confused3
However the cost for this cruise is mounting...so these t-shirts are kind of sliding down the list in terms of priorities:rolleyes1

I have a Gnome ready for the Ballyhoo. He is still learning the names of the ports.

After the Gnome makes it back, I am planning on printing out copies of him with the signatures and sending them to as many Ballyhooers I have addresses for.
Are you going to do it like Sil did? He made a door magnetic with the picture of the gnome on it (I'm pretty sure I still have a copy of the blank one he posted) and then when it was covered in signatures he took a picture of it and posted it on the Dis cruise meet thread for others to copy to theri computers. That would be easier than mailing it out, no?:confused3

However, if you have an actual garden gnome, you might have to change the plan a little...

I have the Lonely Planet Scandinavian Europe that I used for the last Baltics, and the new one is Fodor's European Ports of Call.
I looked at the Rick Steves book and wasn't thrilled with it.

You'd have a better idea of what kind of book would be helpful having been there before:thumbsup2

I got the Barnes and Noble's Nook for my last birthday present from my DH. Very cool:woohoo: So I am tempted to download some guide books for this trip.

It's not a matter of knowing which book to get, it's just a matter of me being extra picky on what book to get. We went to 3 bookstores and looked at 8-10 different books and I also researched just getting maps of each port but couldn't find ones for each post like I wanted. But I'm glad I waited since borders emailed me a 40% off coupon which I used for the new book. :woohoo:

Downloading guide books will be much easier than carrying the heavy books. I'm tempted to just the pages we will need and just take them.

Yes I have one similar. I had asked him when I thought of it. I will post a picture of it when I can.

You are right as the weather is absolutely freezing today as I watch my daughter's football match this morning, I was shivering with cold feet and wish I bring the hat and gloves...

I wonder if snow is coming???

You are going to get it, Scotland and North England have an advance weather advisory warning for heavy Snow next week, England now seems, to be heavy rain, but cold, and just missing the snow, but its only a degree or so that will change it.

BOOKING

A lot of you have been on DCL cruises before and booked before, but the booking system has been updated in the last year, and its one of thoose things that at 00:00, you want to do it on automatic pilot, (like a Fire alarm), as mistakes often occur.

I have read all to often people posting they thought they had booked things go to bed and find they have gone in the morning.

First rule.

All shore trips. Save your favorites into saved activities before your booking window, it will speed up the process, and on DCL, seconds mean the difference in getting something or loosing out.

Next rule: 00:00

You can log into the DCL site and your profile anytime, say 10 mins before etc, not to long as it can log you out without activity.

I went in via the Castaway club part, my cruises, it has your old cruises there and your booked ones and you can click on your reservation number there. Do that its fast, saves you putting in the number, but not before 00:00 Internet time. (UK is now 05:00 as we are on BST).

Your in!

Select if you want Palo, or Shore trips or spa.

On the buttons.

Booking1.jpg

Palo

Three Options

Brunch, tea, Dinner.

Select which one.

Select the name of the booking, IE Lead person.

A drop down opens up, select 'all' or the names for this meal booking.

Booking2.jpg

You now 'continue' and the next page.

Time slots appear for your meal, as follows:-

Booking3.jpg

Select which one, and continue.

Now you have options here, it will be 'unconfirmed' (see shore trips latter in this post, ) but you can 'confirm' now, and ensure you have it, or select another meal type, your choice.

On my example on the right hand side it shows the confirmed schedule,

Shore trips.

Booking4.jpg

You will get every single shore trip come up, but you can cut these down.

I would toggle on 'saved activities', that will be your favorite only.

But you can do this by Port or by activity type.

On this you can see the first shore trip for Copenhagen showing, if you wanted this you would click on it.

Then at the bottom, select the people in your group going, either all or by name.

Booking5.jpg

Select continue.

Booking6.jpg

Times/days come up if an option.

Select and continue.

And then in all cases

You must save and confirm or they will remain unconfirmed IE not booked.

Booking8.jpg

Here you have an example of confirmed (booked) items and also Unconfirmed (not booked items).

Booking7.jpg

After this My cruise plans should show everything booked.

Last tips,

Never use the 'back' button.

Do not allow someone else to have their laptop on and in your reservation.

Do not 'block cookies' to DCL on yuor internet browser.

I like this idea. As for a list of staterooms, can you put a sticker on the back with everyone's cabin numbers and then when it comes to our cabin we can cross it off the back, sign the front and pass it along to another family? Not sure if that will be easier than trying to read all the signatures on the front and figuring out where it goes to next.

Are you going to do this for the AK cruise too?

'Morning everyone

Today's the start of more rainy weather for a few days. :headache: I'm ready to get out of here and head to FL next weekend.

Hi folks,

I am having a problem trying to figure out how to get to Disneyland Paris after the cruise. I would apreciate any info or alternatives.

My first choice is the Eurotrain. I have found a site selling tickets for $650 us dollars for first or second class one way ickets for the 4 of us. Since debarkation is at 8 am I was planning on eating at the buffet early so I could get in line at 7:30am and be one of the first groups off. We were also thinking of keeping our luggage with us so we could skip lugage pick up and make sure no pieces are lost. After passing customs we would hop on a taxi cab to take us to Ashford station. The connection leaves at 10:28 am.

Is this possible?

The tickets are non refundable, should I pay extra for the ones that allow a change?

What other means of transportation is there to get to DLP?

Help please!!!!

Hi

Two travel options

Eurostar train (best).
Ferry and then car hire or train in France.

Eurostar,

Firstly keeping your luggage imho slows you down there re long lines at disembarkation and you will not be able to walk fast, and will often have to travel down elevators only, not escalators, DCL is very organized on luggage and ignore reports on the main forum its 100% efficient.

Next, it is very tight.

Ashford is quite doable by Taxi but many people will be after them.

We are supposed to disembark from 8am, if you get luggage etc in say 30 mins, and a taxi you can get there by 9.30am.

I would get the train times from Dover priory station on that morning as well and dependent on when you get a taxi consider routing via that station instead.

The issue is that Eurostar have a strict 30 mins rule, to check you in and your passports etc, so its very tight.

The good news is if you get the direct Eurostar train to MARNE LA VALLEE-CHESSY, the station is under the Disneyland Paris resort between the parks and the Disney village.

You can also do it in direct via Lille Europe station, and get a TGV train from there. IE Brusells train at Ashford then change and TGV.

More Eurostar options are at Ebbsfleet station further up towards London, from Dover priory.

That is too far away right now. Probably. I need to figure out what signs I want to do for this cruise still.

Sounds like fun!

One less thing for you to worry about....you do not go thru customs/immigration when debarking at Dover. You just grab your bags in the terminal and keep on walking out the door.

Not too sure about this, as this cruise is different from the Med ones from Barcelona.

In 2007 they were all in Europe, and where there isn't any border controls.

UK Has boarder controls with the rest of Europe, we have chosen to keep them.

Considering we leave Europe as well, I am not sure that it will be such a formality, there are two parts customs and immigration, our customs are very strong as well and considering the stuff you could buy on our cruise might also be active.

If you travel London<> Paris by Eurostar, you go through immigration and customs at least once, normally on entry.

Not saying you are wrong but in my experience, I personally expect Customs and immigration however it will be fairly quick.
