You are all the quite bunch today!:rolleyes1 For those of you in warmer clime's it was 1 degree F (-17C) when we woke this morning! :cold:

We also got Fodor's "European Ports of Call." Has all of our stops.

I bought "The Unofficial Guide to London" which I am liking so far. It mentions that we need something called "London A-Z." Is that a map, schedule, etc?? Anyone know how to get it?

Beth

I have a friend who lived in London for a short time and she says you can pick these up at any newsstand and they are a MUST HAVE to get around.

Alright so, a few questions
1. Where are people staying?
2. What are some good hotels around the airport?
3. What was the Ballyhoo bus people were talking abouta few pages back all about?

I also sent away to Norway/Sweden & Estonia's tourist boards for information, and they both sent nice packs of useful information, small maps & nice brochures.!

In terms of books I bought Rick's book about a year ago. I also got a load of stuff from the relevant tourist boards. Just impatiently waiting - hoping that there will be some prices when the trips eventually go up otherwise my planning will not be hugely helped as cost will be an influencing factor for some of the ports as to whether we "go it alone"

On the weather front a slight thaw this afternoon, but a few more snowflakes now. School will reopen tomorrow, but short days (10 -2.45) for Monday & Tuesday

Celestine

Where did you find the info to write or email the tourist board to get info sent to you? This would be great to have listed in the first post.

We found the US Embassy in Copenhagen by complete accident and they gave us a great guidebook with a nice map in it that was in English. I hope I can find that book again.

1. Park Plaza London Victoria. Others have listed their hotels on this thread over the many pages.

2. Can't really help much, but I saw on another thread that Andrew recommended the Sofitel at Heathrow Terminal 5. But you didn't say which ariport.

3. Celestine is organizing a couple of buses to get us from London to the port and then from the port to Gatwich and Heathrow. You can PM her with your info to be added to list if you wish to join us on the buses. She's saying the cost will be no more than 15 GBP/person.

:goodvibesGood Morning All!:goodvibes
Barb either you need to travel less or cut down on the Banners they are slowing the thread down!:headache::lmao:;)

Morning all, yes even Robert.

Fine I'll get rid of a banner next week when I get home from this weekend's cruise. But....are you just now realizing how many banners I have?
BTW...if it were up to me I'd travel more NOT less.

you can try a rotating banner

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Real funny Andrew. Do you realize how much trouble I've had just putting on regular banners?!? :confused3 :rotfl2: Besides, I think that would cause Robert just as much slowness as what I have now. It seems he's the only one with that issue. :rolleyes1 :upsidedow

OK - jill's banner says 6 months 1 week and Andrew's says 5 months 1 week. I know we are all anxious to go on the trip Andrew but I don't think they will let us on the ship an entire month early.

A-Z is a map. You don't need to buy one unless you are planning on visiting things outside the central london area. The maps from the tourist office, in hotel lobbies etc. are more than adequate for the main tourist sites. If you want to buy one, suggest the following ISBN 978-1-84348-205-5 as it has hotel listings, theatre listings, major tourist sites etc all marked and is very small (10cm x 14.5cm) it costs £3-95.

I did a search & found them online & in each case there was a web request form & the stuff was sent direct. THere are also tourist offices in London which was my back up plan if the net didn't work
