Caro, are you sure about it only being for a week or more stay. I thought I checked last eve and you could do it for less than one week. Maybe I am dreaming, though, it was late. I thought we could reserve it at the 10 mos window. The Royal Garden we can do at 11 mos out. The points are much, much less for Allen House, though. We may do the Royal Garden just to make sure we get somewhere on points.
I just checked the DVC site and the way I read the info the Royal Garden is 65 or 75 points per night and the Allen House is only by the week, but the point chart is based on days of the week like the DVC charts for WDW and DL resorts.

Celestine, you have no idea how fabulous this is. This takes a lot off our mind. You are such a sweetie!!!!! And thank your DH, too! :lovestruc
I agree, thanks to your DH Paul (this is his name isn't it)

Happy Father's Day to all!!!!
Thank you, Caro & I had a nice day, after she got the girls packed for camp. They are safely at Girl Scout camp until Friday.

Right now, I have no idea what my schedule will be like for those weeks. If Linda and I end up being off for whichever weekend you decide, we'll definitely drive down to meet you guys. If we can't make it this summer, maybe we can try meeting up again in the fall.

Sorry Mike, I had just assumed that summer would be easier to plan so I threw out some dates to get things started. Gotta wait for Julie and Barb to get back from their trips to see if they want to join in too. Depending on interest we can plan 2 small meets or one big one in the fall:confused3

We had a nice day today. The kids took me to Putt Putt. You'd think that they'd have the decency to throw the game on Father's Day! Then we went to dinner at Applebee's, and back home to watch the kids in the pool for a bit. Topped it all off with cake. (I like cake! ;))
Ok, was it the red velvet cake:confused3 We need details:cool2:

We went to my younger daughter and her husband's house for a Mexican bbq today. This is the first time my daughter has had a party. Her husband's mother and stepfather and his father and stepmother were all there too. We had a good time together. Altogether there were 16 people. I was quite proud of her. :lovestruc:love::lovestruc
Oh gosh I remember the first time I hosted a group that large was Thanksgiving for mine and DH's family. Stressful, but fun. Good for your daughter for taking that big a group on:thumbsup2 I stick to smaller groups now:laughing:

So how much are you enjoying the quiet:rolleyes1

Okay guys I called member services to check on my wait list for the Allen House, here is the skinny!

1. It is only by the week!

2. You must check in on a Saturday & check out on a Saturday!

3. This means you are on your own for the Saturday night before the cruise which departs on Sunday!

You could leave for Dover on Saturday? After going to Portabelo road for the antique market!:)

While I will keep my waitlist as it would be the most economical I will look into other options for my weekly stay.

The 65 point level for royal gardens would equal 130 points a night for my family a minimum 5 night stay woul be 650 points 7 nights would be 910 points!

My take 5 nights at the Royal Garden maybe 7 nights too many points. I would rather look for cash alternatives & spend the dough!:teacher::dance3:

I hope you had a great visit today!!:flower3:

Our family visit went very well..........we met our new relative and had a great father's day.........

Happy to hear that your DD could handle that affair, sounds tricky! It's amazing when your kids grow up and do things like that....WTG!!:goodvibes

Well I do not know if I am coming..... going..... or what, :confused3

We get very little information.

First we have 'Internet' that came back this morning and has stated,

Phones came back an hour ago,

Originally we were told to be fixed Monday 22nd, then the website and other people in our area said Monday 29th.

But I have seen them working on this locally and so far its up, but our phone dialing tones etc all sound wrong, so maybe a temporary fix not sure.
Sorry, it does sound pretty frustrating!:scared1:

Thanks for checking on that Robert! Since we will only be there 2 night probably, the Royal Garden should work for us!

Caro & Robert,

Thanks so much for checking on Allen House. I'm thinking that the Royal Garden would be OK for us too, Caro, as it will only be for 3 nights. Robert, I agree, I think you would be able to do much better with cash for that period of time.

Robert

I can offer no insight to accommodation around Dover. DH & I did B&B there once years ago as we had an early ferry to France & it was like staying at Fawlty Towers! Fine for a night & certainly an experience. Not sure I'd like to have to pack to partly unpack to repack if you get my drift. I guess a party of 6 is just too large for H&S regs or whatever in a room these days?

Not to worry I have put out an inquiry to the Victoria Plaza about their family room or rooms just in case.

Everything is adrift sooner or later I will anchor, but will keep options open for the Allen House as it would be a good deal for me!

That sounds like such an emotion filled situation-kinda scary, awkward, happy, etc. It says a lot about your family that they were able to make that work out to a great father's day for your Dad:thumbsup2

Ok I'm feeling sappy cause my DH's family has so many family feuds and I hate getting pulled into those:headache: It is nice to see/hear other familes getting along:goodvibes

:goodvibesGood Morning All:goodvibes
Wow we were all the way back on page 2!

My daughter has a question for our UK friends

She knows that video tapes made here don't play on UK vcr machines unless there is a convertor type thingie on UK vcrs

does US made dvd's play on UK dvd players

and

does US made cd's play on UK cd players

thanks

have a great day!

pirate:

(Posted by Paul my DH) US videos will play on most UK vcr's (not that many people use them nowadays) as long as the vcr has the ability to play NTSC tapes. Don't get me started on the whole Betamax v VHS debate.....the dvd will not play on a standard dvd player due to the region coding, we are region 2 and you are region 1. Most people who want to play region 1 dvd's in the UK either buy a multi region player or discover the hack (usually a series of remote presses) to convert a region 2 player to multiregion. CD's however, play on everything, but most people use ipods nowadays don't they???

Hot sunny Wimbledon, sunset at 9.20pm, it must be Summer, at least, well till Friday at least.-Then it rains! At least Wimbledon has a 'lid' now.

Well, you know, I think most of us have families like that, including me, so this situation is particularly endearing, imagine being adopted and then finding out late in life who your long lost brother is.........she's here until Thursday, so we've been spending time together, learning about each other.......it's pretty cool b/c I don't have any blood relatives on my side who are female.......we do have some things in common, and some things that are not........
