EAST COAST DIS MEET

Anyone up for an East Coast Summer DIS Meet in Baltimore ???

DH and I were going over our summer schedule and at the moment know that we are free for the following dates:
July 25-26 and August 1-2

Anyone want to meet up at the Baltimore Aquarium :confused3

Thanks:thumbsup2
We are not used to crusing without our kids and eating dinner with another family with kids would make me really miss my own. I don't have a problem with seeing kids on the cruise, it's just I'll miss the dinner time conversation we would have with them:confused3
Plus the advantage of eating when we are ready and not having to worry about dress code are steering us toward avoiding the dining room this cruise.

I'm trying to get my DH to participate more in the cruise planning this time. He left almost all the plans to me last cruise (EB PC repo) and I think he realized during the trip that he would have enjoyed himself more if he had more to do with the planning stage:rolleyes:
Unfortunately he is a "leave it to the last minute fly by the seat of your pants" type planner and has a hard time making decisions about something so far in the future:headache:

He keeps threatening to post on the this thread. He says I'll know its him when he does it:scared:
He can be very sarcastic..so let me apologize now for any obnoxious comment he is likely to make:flower3:

Hey Laurie, just an idea......why don't you request being seated with adults only, maybe two other couples? It might be cool! Also, don't forget to book Palo, the waitstaff on the Wonder are really fabulous........I thoroughly enjoyed our trip last summer, very enthusiastic crew on this ship!!:thumbsup2

JoAnn, ADR's - advance dining ressies, just checking it out for when we go in Feb. and when DS goes in Aug. It seems instead of calling, you can make them on line. Got good reviews from those that did it.

We've eaten at Topsiders, mostly for breakfast. Great if you are in a rush or just want a quick bite. It is much more casual than the restaurants. We tend to go there on the mornings before our excursions for a quick breakfast. It is buffet style and you grab a tray and go.

Thx for the tutorial!! Has summer started for you yet........so glad I finally made it!!

I have Elton John/Billy Joel tix on July 31st so we could head down from Philly........:yay:

West Coast MEET

For those of us who will be in the Anaheim area on the weekend of the fourth, Caro, the DDs and I will be celebrating the birth of our country at the GRAND CALIFORNIAN.We have not told the girls yet, but our plans are fairly open. Anybody interested.

Barb, are you going to be down in Fl around Halloween? We will be at either the Treehouses or AKL Villas Wednesday the 28th thru Sunday the 1st. Anyone else going to be down then?

OK So this is what I know, the issue is at the local phone exchange, I understand someone organised to steal all off the copper in the exchange and that has knocked out telephones in our area, and the entire internet.

The work will take two weeks!!!

So I am not going to be around a lot, unless I live in McDonalds and post from there.

Oh how horrible! Strange things happen in tough times.

Andrew & Celestine, I see that one of the RCI exchange hotels is the Allen House in Kensington. It is right near the High Street tube station. Would this be convenient for the Dis bus pickup to port, Celestine? It seems like it is in a nice area, although on the outskirts of London.

Hey, that's where we're thinking of staying also!

Crazy, we've had breakins in our homes for the copper pipes, so I understand.........:confused3

Hey, that's where we're thinking of staying also!

It seems it is the only DVC hotel that will allow less than one week stays. The location looks good as it is close to a tube stop and from there I guess we can travel the city. Maybe we'll be hotel mates!

I was thinking of requesting a table for adults- but not sure how doable that is for DCL. We tried to request a change in our dining time once and the CM looked so stressed that we wound up leaving it alone:confused3 I may play it by ear and if an adult only table is available we 'll take it.

Oh and I made sure we had Palo reservations:thumbsup2 MY favorite place to dine:cloud9: I may try to get an extra dinner there if they have any openings:woohoo:

Oh, yeah:thumbsup2
I love that aquarium too:cloud9:
We may have other dates where we can make it also-these where the ones that we were sure of for now. I figured better get something posted before folks get their summers booked up.

Lucky you on the Billy Joel tix:thumbsup2 I'm from Long Island and a big fan of his for many years.

What about living in Starbucks:confused3;)

No problems for pick up, especially if there is more than one DIS family there. Easy access to main tourist sites either using public transport or shanksy's pony!

Thanks for the heads up, Robert. Chances are probably very slim as that is the only hotel available through DVC/RCI. Any other hotels that you all are looking into? Any suggestions of areas we should be checking into? It would be great if a few of us were in the same general area for bus pick up.

Truthfully I have not done enough research yet to make a determination nor have I decided on wether I want to go frugal or all out.

Unfortunately I will need at least 2 rooms! The hotel Barb is staying at near Victoria station is in a great location & looks nice.

The last time I was in london I stayed at a little hotel on Baker Street it was just okay but it was only me & the DW:hug: now I am traveling with my 4 children!

With 6 everything becomes an issue, when going inside the city the last time I would prefer to take a cab I did not mind the price, now I need 2 cabs :dance3: it was alot easier when it was just me & the missus!:cloud9:

I put in for a week in a 3 or 2 bedroom at the Allen house because the price was right if it came through (Only DVC Points) but if I am paying for a hotel I might reduce from 7 days to 5!

I should have a better idea by september when I start looking for airfare, I hope!

OK, I take back what I said about Allen House. That looks like it is te only place through DVC/RCI if you are staying a week or longer. We found in the Concierge Collection, the Royal Garden Hotel. http://www.royalgardenhotel.co.uk/ You can do a per night on points there. We would need it for less than a week and only need 1 room.
So Celestine or Andrew Derek, how close is this to things? Would this work for our DIS bus?
