We just booked this cruise while onboard Magic last week. So excited! We are from Hilton Head, SC and have three daughters who will be 11, 6 and 4 at the time of sailing.

Welcome aboard along with the rest of the Ballyhoo'ers.

I found your info on the main meets locator thread and have added your info to our thread on page 1.
If you read thru post #1 you will see who else is sailing, along with lots of useful information for the various ports.

Anyone ever done their family tree ??

My sister and I have been looking at it off and on for a while now. We've been able to go back to all 8 of our great, great grandparents but they were the first generation to arrive in the UK from Russia, Lithuania and Litvia.

Last Saturday we met a long lost 3rd cousin on my maternal grandfathers side who we didn't know about and we had a great afternoon sharing info.

What I would really like to do now is go back further but I think that would require a lottery win to fund it

Yes, we found out that on my dad's side, we're from the Munich area and we come from a long line of farmers. His name is Hopf, which is possibly a form of the word "hops" which is used to make beer. There is a "Hopf" beer produced in the Munich area, so we believe that they are distant relatives. Anyone try "Hopf" beer?http://www.hopfweisse.de/

On my mother's side, there is a large Italian family. They are originally from the Naples area but have mostly moved to Milan. My mother is contact with her cousins and has visited a few times.

There are a lot of places online that can help and are free or low cost. I have Caro's father's side back to the early 1600's in Scotland and my mother's father's side to 1508 in Wiltshire England.

and our dear eldest is very proud of the fact that she is a distant relation to Nixon!

Yes it helps when the countries they came from speak English, but when they come from places where they were kicked out and had to leave in a hurry, then the countries went through a revolution and turned communist and fought several world wars there's not a lot of records around. Also as none of them spoke English when they arrived god alone knows what their original names were
