Thanks Julie. As of now, they are calling for 54 and rain for here. But we know that can change on a dime. :scratchin

Ok, well it might be 54 this weekend, we psyched! Also, even though I could only go to Miami for the weekend, it's not too bad because they had record lows!! Can you imagine, if that's the weather we had this weekend........we really just missed it!:thumbsup2

Another story, I went to a Starbucks at the Miami hotel my first morning there and they said, "We won't have any regular coffee until Tuesday!" (It was Saturday morning.) So I was like, "Can't we just open one of these bags of regular coffee in the retail section?" The salesgirls then tell me THAT IF I BUY A BAG OF COFFEE, THEY'LL MAKE ME A CUP! So I'm like so deparate so I say, "Ok." Then while I'm waiting I get so mad. So I buy my coffee ($11) and I walk right over to the front desk. I tell the staff what's going on. The young man says there's nothing he can do about it. I'm like, "Don't you think your manager would want to know about this?" So nothing happens. I go down to the business center and report this incident to Starbucks.com. Then I checked in with you guys. Later, I received an email from Starbucks saying they were sorry and they'll send me a gift card. Today, I received a call from the hotel manager apologizing and he's sending me a gift card too. (I had filled out the hotel survey earlier this week via email AND I WAS VERY HONEST.):coffee:

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: That is so sad. Did you keep taking your bag of coffee down there so they could make you cups of coffee all day and evening? :confused3
At least both companies are giving you something. I hope they are more than $5. each to cover the cost of your bag of coffee. :rotfl:

We have such a non-winter going here. Hardly any rain which will be a big problem come summer. And the ski resorts are not doing well, even though they have the ability to make snow, it hasn't been cold enough for it to stay. Maybe this rain which is supposed to go till Saturday morning will make snow in the mountains, if it gets cold enough up there. Our low will be 46 tonight.

Hi Ballyhooers!

We had our "pretty snow" and now I'm really ready for winter to be over.

Here's a picture of when it was coming down on Tuesday night:

And here are the end results on Weds morning:

I thought it was all set -- 11:45 at John's on 44th St . . .:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

and maybe this is why Starbucks is laying off 6000 people(or some such amount) and closing stores....

OMG I'm not sure how much more of this I can take :crazy2: If the transport system goes again I think I'm going to cry. Many councils are saying that they've run out of grit/rock salt so very, very few main roads are now getting gritted. Our estate hasn't been ever gritted at all. At work they are saying "you are expected to attend the office" which translated means get to the office whatever it takes :crazy2: I'm not sure how they expect this to happen without transport :confused3

I'M FED UP WITH THIS WEATHER AND THE FACT WE'RE UNABLE TO COPE WITH IT :furious: :furious: :furious:

I wish I had good advice to offer. If it were around here I'd say get on Hotwire and snag a cheap hotel room near work (I've been known to do that before a meeting just to be able to sleep in an extra hour) - but London hotels are so expensive....

Actually, global warming would not mean that every single year would be hotter than the year before, but that the average temperature over time (decades) is rising . . . and that does seem to be true.

I will keep you posted on our weather -- I just saw a forecast for 35 and overcast on Tuesday -- which believe me, is a lot better than today, which is sunny but frigid!

Ironically, we're glad to have a bit of rain tonight because they are forecasting a terrible drought for this summer if things don't change soon.

I can't believe a Starbucks ran out of coffee:coffee: :coffee: :coffee: I am so glad both the hotel and Starbucks got back to you.

Oh, I believe it. The way it works is this:
1. Starbucks sees a small drop in profits.
2. Starbucks anticipates a huge drop due to a failing economy.
3. Starbucks lays off thousands of people.
4. Among those people are the entire team responsible for stocking regular coffee (or any other popular product).
5. Not having regular coffee (or said product), hundreds of thousands of irate customers abandon Starbucks.
6. Starbucks has a huge drop in income (see item #2) because of not having product (see # 5).
7. Go to step 3 - repeat until Starbucks follows the path of Circuit City.

See, I coulda been an economist :rolleyes1

Keeping everything crossed for you all for better weather.:grouphug:

So the weather saga this morning goes like this.

At 6:10am there is the biggest clap of thunder you've ever heard, the house shook and the windows rattled, but there was just one clap. Then 10 mins later the snow storm started and it was still snowing at 6:50am when Josh and I left. I got to the train station and the train came almost on time and I got to work just fine. Josh called me at 7:40am to say his bus was stuck and going no where and the other 3 buses that follow his were also stuck :crazy2: :crazy2: . So at 8:30am the bus drivers decide that it's to unsafe to drive the buses carrying the kids any further as they are stuck ontop of a hill and all the kids have to go home. Josh has no way of getting home so makes arrangements to go with one of his bus friends to this kids house for the day as they can walk there in 10 mins. At 9:30 Josh's school announces that as there has been some transport disruption this monring and some kids made it in and others didn't they are going to shut early at 11am.

So now I have Josh at a friends house, Ethan at school (which according to the head teacher is going to remain open) and Paul and I at work with more heavy snow forecast for later this afternoon.

What a bloody 'Mare :crazy2:  ::yes:: :rolleyes2 :scared:

Well at least you can wear it without a thermal vest underneath and 3 jumpers on top like we are at the moment

I hope you get back more that just what you paid for the coffee.

BTW did they make you pay for the actual making of the coffee as well as for the beans ??

Izzi, you need a couple of these this morning. :grouphug: :grouphug: What a nightmare for all of you. That's great that Josh is responsible enough to figure out what to do though, even if you do have to figure out how to get him home tonight. And what is Mr. Au Pair doing today? Working out?
