We just got through our snow and ice event so I've been thinking about the cruise. :)

On a 12-night cruise, I assume you just keep rotating through the dining rooms throughout the cruise? Do they keep the food interesting?

Also, does the ship gear up more activities for such a long cruise? Any examples of what they do?
Hi:wave2:
We had some great menus on the eastbound Panama Canal Repo and that was for 15 days so IMO I thought they did a good job of keeping the food interesting:thumbsup2 I'm not a huge fan of the main dining room food in general, but I did enjoy dinner time with my family and friends:cool1:

This cruise is much more port intensive than my last one so I'm not sure about extra activities. We had some special guests on the PC repo that added to the fun. Aly and AJ, plus can't remember the names of the Broadway stars from Beauty and the Beast, and the Disney artist (Ducky) but they were all good. Extra drink tastings and cooking demonstrations. Plus events that our DIS group organized.

I'm thinking we'll be so busy in the ports that we'll be too tired to do much on the ship:rolleyes:

You will be so tired from the shore excursions U wont be able to stay awake for extra activities!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :hyper: :faint:
Yes, that's what I was thinking too:thumbsup2

Thank you.

I think that as I answer a lot, there
is always one or two that use me as 'target' practice.
There are the 'debated' ones Palo tips, Deck 2, and Cat 6 Vs Cat 8, seasickness issues, that differnet people have different views.

:lmao:

:rotfl2: As 'woody' would say, ''you have a freind in me'

Firstly lots of snow here couldn't get my car out, so walked to work, closed early.

On the 12 night.

We will 'rotate' each restaurant, is likely to be in order, but our key to the world card will show that, as this cruise is port intensive they will crank down daytime activities on port days, but crank up on the few sea days.

We will have the normal dinner theme nights plus I am sure they will add some local menus, may for example a Russia one, etc on those port nights.

I expect something special the Night we stay in St Petersburg, in the WD Theater, -Ballet.
oooh, ballet would be nice:thumbsup2

Izzi...cruise info to be posted please.

http://heinbloed-cruiseguides.blogspot.com/

I confess, I borrowed this from cruisecritic. This guy lives in Germany and is full of so much info on the Warnemunde area and other areas in Germany, as well as other areas in the world, that I had to post his website here for all to look over. His pictures are very detailed with information and gives very specific instructions for walking, biking or going by train.
There are several links on the right hand side to click on for more info.

If anyone has any questions that can't be found on his site I'm sure you could go over to cruisecritic on the European boards and ask him directly.
very cool:thumbsup2
I'm obsessed with cruise info:blush:
Thanks:goodvibes

Sorry I didn't say this earlier.......

Thank you for all your responses to the SEVEN QUESTIONS...

Did read them but if I quote them all it will make a boring post from me.....(no change there then). You all picked up on it quickly, Its copy-write CRASH enterprises, .com, so I will now have to pay him commission. For those not on the E/bound repo last year he regularly posted seven questions. often about the most bazaar things, but it did stimulate some really goos answers between the odd pirate run.

Looks like they are popular so we could do more, in due course.

I often just have had the odd 'question of the day, -Just I know I use the word 'odd' deliberately.

PS Tom if you do read this and demand your royalties, usual 'fee' One Mickey bar, collect on ship from room service.

Hope everyone is safe, we had about a foot of snow here, yes a foot, but it has just stopped, but its going to turn to ICE,ICE Baby!!!!

SO

''ANDREWS ''ODD' QUESTION.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE WORST WEATHER YOU HAVE EVER BEEN IN????

Lets see if we can have a bit of oneupmanship, on the severity, so one foot of snow is my opening gambit, but I could go for the back end of a hurricane, on the Eastbound repo in 2005 off Cab San Lucas.

Any Tornado chasers out there???

mmm, there was one storm in Rochester NY in the 80's that was so bad they closed my school (only time in the 4 years I was there). But I don't remember the footage-just that it was measured in feet, not inches.

We did have a bad snow storm here in VA back in January 1995 where they did not plow our streets for 5 days:scared: People were walking to the supermarket to get supplies and my boss was pleading with me to walk to a nearby highway to pick me up for work. We had several local people die that winter after they got out of there cars and were hit by other cars- so I was reluctant to do that. The reason my boss was so desperate was because we worked at a cancer laboratory and had specimen samples that were in jeopardy. Luckily others were able to make it in and we didn't lose any.
We haven't had as much snow since then.

When does he eat his Bon-Bons and watch soap operas? :rotfl2:

I guess the au-pair may not get a chance to get caught up watching Neighbors. ::yes:: I love to watch that show over there. :hyper: Although it was so much easier to stay caught up with it when we used to visit friends yearly.

ok, I had my dates wrong. it was January 1996.

January 6-13, 1996: The "Blizzard of '96" or the "Great Furlough Storm" began late on Saturday, January 6. Just one day earlier, an impasse between a republican congress and a democratic president over the 1996 Federal Budget had finally come to an end. Many federal employees had been on furlough with government offices shut down for almost a month. Employees would finally return to work on Monday, January 8.

However, Mother Nature did not cooperate. By Monday morning, much of Virginia and the Washington area were buried under 2 feet of snow. As much as 30 to 36 inches of snow fell over the western mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. Roanoke set a new 24-hour snow record with 22.2 inches and Lynchburg set a new record with 20 inches. High winds on the 8th swept the snow into 10-foot drifts in the mountains. Around Richmond and throughout central Virginia 1 to 2 feet of snow fell with 11 to 14 inches in the immediate metro area. Even the Tidewater area saw 5 to 8 inches of snow.

The entire I-95 corridor from near the North Carolina border into New England was paralyzed. Many rural and some residential areas did not see a snow plow for 5 days. The Federal Government remained shut down for another 4 days. Many local governments and businesses were also closed. Schools announced their closure for the entire week and some were closed longer. A second storm struck on Friday, January 12 dumping another 2 to 6 inches. A maximum of 10 inches of snow fell over Highland and western Loudoun Counties. By the week's end, most of Virginia, west of Richmond, had seen 2 to 4 feet of snow! Most areas to the east had received at least a foot

It was really bad:sad2:
Glad we haven't had anything like this since.

Well the "worst is yet to come" is that they are forecasting alot more snow tonight 10 -12 inches but hopefully not here in London but further north. However they do expect it to get cold tonight here in London about -5 to -6 so all the snow and slush is going to freeze making getting to work tomorrow a nightmare. :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

We're not really prepared for snow like this as it doesn't happened very often. In fact the last time we had snow like this was 18 years ago :sad2:

You are right Karen the pictures of central London, Parliment, Big Ben etc are really pretty

Sorry to hear about more snow coming overnight. Stay safe.

I'm glad you mentioned when the last bad snow was, now we know when our picture was taken. My friend had a friend of her's take a pic of Warwick Castle when it was covered in snow and had it enlarged and framed for us since we had been there several times.

You just reminded me to check the weather again..........:confused3

Considering they were totally wrong for us today I don't think I'd trust them too much this week. We had a beautiful sunny day today, not what was predicted of the grey morning and afternoon. :confused3 :scratchin

I know but that may change overnight, it looks like it could go either way............:confused3

Ok, snow reports are inconclusive.......I'm keeping my cell by my nightstand, in case anything comes up........I hope to talk to you all tomorrow......;)

Words of advice... :sad2:
If you order a Photopass photo book, don't wait until the last night to try and put it together! It's rather overwhelming!

Yep, it's all relative. It's a well known fact that here in California (where we have no weather), the first rainstorm of the season leads to a huge number of accidents because California drivers forget how to drive in the rain during the dry interval between May and October.

Wow. Here most employees are lucky to get 10 days - 15 after you've been somewhere for 5 years. I'm fortunate or unfortunate - I either have no vacation days, or unlimited - depending on the variations of work any given year.

I have to ask - what is an "outgoing" ?

I was once in a sandstorm. It was strong enough so I had to mask my face and couldn't see more than a couple of dozen feet ahead.

I'd pick that over a hurricane though.

"Outgoings" = expenses that he HAS to spend his money on i.e. utility bills, food, tax, rates etc. He has none of those all his money is disposable and believe me he keeps a very tight hold on it

Well I made it into work. Driving out of our road was horrible but once I made it to the main road it was ok as long as you took it fairly slowly. There was a bit of distruption on the train and I got diverted from the City into the West End so I had to get the tube back into the City but overall it wasn't too bad.

Congrats for getting into work! :cool1: We are having snow today but it won't affect anything (expecting 3-5 inches or so).
