Wow! You guys sure did get snow! I heard it first thing this morning and thought about you Izzy. I'm so sick of snow! It seems this year is worse than the others have been. We had a nice day yesterday got up to 40! Have fun and stay safe.

Izzi...cruise info to be posted please.

http://heinbloed-cruiseguides.blogspot.com/

I confess, I borrowed this from cruisecritic. This guy lives in Germany and is full of so much info on the Warnemunde area and other areas in Germany, as well as other areas in the world, that I had to post his website here for all to look over. His pictures are very detailed with information and gives very specific instructions for walking, biking or going by train.
There are several links on the right hand side to click on for more info.

If anyone has any questions that can't be found on his site I'm sure you could go over to cruisecritic on the European boards and ask him directly.

Ethan's school just posted on their website that school is closed again tomorrow, so he has another snow day !! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Izzi, aren't you glad it's the start of a new month and you are back to broadband speed and not still at dial up speed?!?

I'm just curious how much vacation time or personal days off or whatever you call them over there do you get a year?

You had better believe it, unfortunately they monitor it week to week so that means they could take it away again next week if the boys abuse it this week. However that does mean it's only taken away for 1 week and not an entire month.

I get 27 days + bank holidays of which there are 8.

That's 7 weeks vacation in total. Wow, you are lucky.
MY DH has been at his job for almost 35 years and gets 5 weeks vacation and 3 personal days, which can be taken anytime, and then gets paid for 3 holidays; Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

What's the difference between annual leave and personal days ???:confused3

Sorry I didn't say this earlier.......

Thank you for all your responses to the SEVEN QUESTIONS...

Did read them but if I quote them all it will make a boring post from me.....(no change there then). You all picked up on it quickly, Its copy-write CRASH enterprises, .com, so I will now have to pay him commission. For those not on the E/bound repo last year he regularly posted seven questions. often about the most bazaar things, but it did stimulate some really goos answers between the odd pirate run.

Looks like they are popular so we could do more, in due course.

I often just have had the odd 'question of the day, -Just I know I use the word 'odd' deliberately.

PS Tom if you do read this and demand your royalties, usual 'fee' One Mickey bar, collect on ship from room service.

Hope everyone is safe, we had about a foot of snow here, yes a foot, but it has just stopped, but its going to turn to ICE,ICE Baby!!!!

SO

''ANDREWS ''ODD' QUESTION.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE WORST WEATHER YOU HAVE EVER BEEN IN????

Lets see if we can have a bit of oneupmanship, on the severity, so one foot of snow is my opening gambit, but I could go for the back end of a hurricane, on the Eastbound repo in 2005 off Cab San Lucas.

Any Tornado chasers out there???

Our worse weather is actually at the other extreme, when we were last in Australia we were in Sydney on the hottest day every recorded there at 45 deg C (thats 120 deg F) :beach: :beach: :scared: :scared: We spent the day at Manly Beach, when we got the ferry back into the city Josh collapsed with the heat :faint: :faint:

Personal days can be scheduled the week or 2 before used and are allotted by the calendar year.
His vacation weeks/days are scheduled ahead of time and are approved based on seniority and are to be used/scheduled during their vacation use year which is May -April.

The good thing about vacations being aproved based on seniority is that he's #5 in seniority in the entire store and #2 in his department. So he really has no problems getting the vacation weeks he wants.

I can give 2 answer to this:

Hurricane Charlie August 2004. We were supposed to fly out of MCO the night it hit and we didn't get to fly out until Sunday morning and then we had to drive to Tampa airport. I've never seen glass in a sliding glass door bow before. :scared: But going into Epcot the next day was nice, it wasn't crowded at all and the CM's were so nice.

Drove to Las Vegas from Delaware July 2005, Got to Laughlin, NV and it was 125, drove across the Colorado river to Bullhead City, AZ and it was 132. Once we got up to Las Vegas they were having record highs of around 121. It might have been a dry heat, but when the air was moving it was like standing in front of a furnace. :crazy2:

Ok I get it. We don't really have that. For me there are certain times when it would be really difficult to take holiday i.e end of March, beginning of April and the end of September as those are financial dates. Other than that I can take my holiday whenever I please. When I worked in a team we generally coordinated our holiday between us to ensure that we had adequate cover, now I'm a team of me and there is no cover I will take my holiday when I want. We can book our holiday as far out or as close as we want we don't have any seniority restrictions.
