Still snowing, Josh HAS A SNOW DAY !!! not that the school is closed but because the entire london bus network is suspended. I'm not going to work as my trains are not running and the tube network is in chaos. At the moment Ethan still has school as it's only a 10 min walk but I'll walk him down and we'll see when we get there.

Wow, how many inches?? I can't believe just last week you were saying that this never happens..........enjoy your snow day!!:cool1:

Welcome back JoAnn! Sorry to hear your daughter wasn't thrilled with U of Miami. Glad to hear you had nice weather!

Good morning Izzi and Andrew Derek! How's the snow situation?

Thx, I really want her to stay in Philadelphia, so it's fine with me!:goodvibes

NEWS ALERT !!! NEWS ALERT !!! NEW ALERT !!!

The United Kingdom is gripped in the worst "SNOW EVENT" in eighteen years

Just about the whole of the London public transport system is closed, both boys schools are closed. In north London we have about 3 inches at the moment but it's still snowing and it is expected to keep snowing for most of the day with heavy falls forecast for later this afternoon. Snow levels are between 3 - 10 inches depending on where abouts in the country you are.

I'll take some photos soon and post them. Paul is at work but I expect he'll only stay for a few hours more before he heads back home. I hope he doesn't leave it too long as he has to drive round north london.

Ok, we're back from Miami. It was definitely worth it so be in the Florida sun and warmish cool temps. Everytime I go there, I wonder why we haven't moved yet!:beach:

Hey Brits, keep us posted on your snow.

My daughter wasn't sold on U of Miami program so we'll see about that. She'll have to decide in a month or so.

Back to reality tomorrow.......

Glad you had a good weekend, JoAnn!:thumbsup2

Enjoy it! I know that the amount of snow needed to shut everything down really varies with what you get normally -- we are expecting 3-6 inches tomorrow and it won't affect anything! It's got to be over a foot of snow to do much in the city, and when we had a big blizzard a while back (over 2 feet of snow!), that closed things down to where I saw people using cross country skis down 79th Street. . .

Is your new motto, never say never? ;) Sounds like the UK is in for quite a storm. Stay safe and warm, but have fun! I love the pictures!

I can't wait to see your pics (have to wait until I get home.) Thanks for sharing! I saw your London weather on the Weather Channel today, they were saying that it was "the worst storm in ....years".........enjoy it and stay safe!

We just got through our snow and ice event so I've been thinking about the cruise. :)

On a 12-night cruise, I assume you just keep rotating through the dining rooms throughout the cruise? Do they keep the food interesting?

Also, does the ship gear up more activities for such a long cruise? Any examples of what they do?

Great pics. :thumbsup2
Now I have to email from friends in Bournemouth and near Telford to see what their snow is like.

Have fun in the snow, stay warm and be safe.

The only thing that p***es me off about having a snow day is that I have to take it out of my annual leave, even though it wasn't my fault that I couldn't get to work. There were no trains, 90% of the tube network was suspended and whole of the London bus network was suspended

That does stink, but that's how it works here too for most people.

I would always try to get to work when possible so I didn't have to use my own days to take off. DH has always worked nights and always had a 4 wheel drive vehicle so I really had no excuses to not get to work, although I was late many times.

Wow Izzi, the boys look like they had so much fun! They will always talk about this storm, especially when they have their own children. Of course by then the snow would have been a "foot high" and the walk to school would have been "an hour" only to find it closed. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Sorry you had to take a vacation day for this. It looks like our NY winter this year. Every time we turn around it is another few inches. Just enough to be annoying but not to close anything.

Nice snowman. Alana says "COOL, they like Arsenal!!" One of her teachers is a former professional Soccer (Football to you over on the other side of the Pond) player.
that's my daughter! :thumbsup2
That is a great snowman! I'm sure the boys are really enjoying the snow!

And don't forget, they would of had to walk uphill both ways! :rotfl2:

Gee wiz, Andrew. You are always so helpful and knowledgeable. I can't imagine how anyone would have trouble with your posts. We know you a long time now and you have always been the gentlemen.
Thank you.

I think that as I answer a lot, there
is always one or two that use me as 'target' practice.
There are the 'debated' ones Palo tips, Deck 2, and Cat 6 Vs Cat 8, seasickness issues, that differnet people have different views.

Like the hats loose the Rabbit!:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I wish U 2 would stop picking on me! :guilty: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :hyper: :sad2: :faint:

Firstly lots of snow here couldn't get my car out, so walked to work, closed early.

On the 12 night.

We will 'rotate' each restaurant, is likely to be in order, but our key to the world card will show that, as this cruise is port intensive they will crank down daytime activities on port days, but crank up on the few sea days.

We will have the normal dinner theme nights plus I am sure they will add some local menus, may for example a Russia one, etc on those port nights.

I expect something special the Night we stay in St Petersburg, in the WD Theater, -Ballet.
