Bank of America's rate today is $1.44/pound + delivery fee

I definately need to check with my bank next week and order a few more GBP. I got a few GBP just before Christmas and my rate was $1.52.
When I order currency at my bank they don't charge a delivery fee.

Hi all,

The rate is far worse over here, its always buy-high. Sell-Low, So on the Margins we are in the low $1.3 and may go lower for a time.

Is this rate a consumer rate or a wholesale rate? When I check the OANDA site their rate is $1.38/GBP. The rate that a consumer will buy foreign notes will most always be higher than a posted wholesale rate. http://www.oanda.com/
I've never been able to buy currency or have my credit card charges at the posted rates either here or abroad, there is always a surcharge built into the exchange rate.

:goodvibes
Congrats on her first 'real' job. But you are supposed to remember those things since you know we will be asking for all the details. :rotfl2:
Congrats to her!!! (And to you for helping her get there!!!)
Is this the job in NYC?
:rotfl2:
exactly, we need to know EVERYTHING!!!!
Oh WOW !!! JoAnn that wonderful ........ inquiring minds need to know, we need more info ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::
Peer pressure, peer pressure........Tara went to U of Maryland, then Temple U and graduated with a major in Communications/Advertising. She then went to Miami Ad School in Miami for one year, took the summer off to go on the Med cruise with us, :beach: then studied in Hamburg, London and interned in NYC for the last 6 months. While in MAS, she won several awards and has been published in student ad magazines. She took a lease in Brooklyn fully expecting to get a job this fall. She finished her school in Dec, and then the economy left us (see Andrew):sad2: .......so she delivered all these "presents" (her resume) in Manhattan to ad agencies during December. They all seemed to like her but didn't have anything or said "See me in Jan, Feb, March" :scared: The first three weeks of Jan. were bleak. :sad1: Yesterday, on my bday, she finally had an interview. They hired her last night. :cheer2: JWThompson is the agency. How's that? Enough details?

Thanks for asking!:wave2: :grouphug:

My rate to buy dollars (if I have pounds) is $1.30 today. There's always a substantial spread.

Actually there are now two credit cards I know off that offer near wholesale rates on foreign transactions without additional fees. The Capital One card and Schwab Bank card. I used the Capital One card on the Med cruise and the rates I got were great.

The only reason I'm buying some pounds now is I expect the dollar to drop again.

I wonder if we could move to an alternate universe? :confused3

Hello sweetie, it's nice to see you, come here and have a

Izzi, you're so funny.......I don't want to leave the universe, but the economy, the temperament of my peers, the injustice of some systems, all of this has been getting to me this month........I guess cold air is really unhealthy to my mood..........:confused3 .............our repartee is so refreshing........:thumbsup2 :crowded: ::yes::

I know I should too, but our trip is so far off.........:hourglass

Thx!! You can join facebook anytime. I just "friended" Andrew (Carolyn's husband.) I'm pretty sure you just register and then join. It's fun and addicting. I have found over 80 high school friends in the last few months. It's so cool to find out what happened to all of us. (It'll be 30 years for us this summer.) I'm also friends with CruisinMike and jilljill. Let me know if you need help with this.:grouphug:
