Dont worry be happy with the way the financial news is lately I would say we are in for a long term period of financial instability!:sad2:

If the US fed keeps spending money like drunkin sailor's in Liverpool it will not be long before Inflation sets in then they will raise Interest rates which will cause stagflation!

Very Scary! Thats why we are all heading to the coffee house's in Amsterdam & Coppenhagen!:smokin: :crazy2: :faint: ::yes::
Sorry to inform you but this ship won't be stopping in Amsterdam and I didn't see any 'coffee houses' in Copenhagen. :crazy2:

Do you have anyone to vouch for U:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: ?

And yes I have written notarized affidavits!:thumbsup2

Why yes ... I have it documented on an MRI cd that my mind is there. I bought the copy as proof in case anyone did ask me. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :hyper: ::yes::

It's been fun, but I gotta run out of here as I have another depo in a little bit which won't be fun. Later :wave2: :grouphug:

No sweetie I'm here just popping in and out as I do some work and try and finalise the invitations for Josh's barmitzvah :crazy2:

Trouble is the only ones I like are from an american website called www.einvite.com and I've done all the online design bit which took ages. Then yesterday I thought I'd Google to see if any other place did them and another american site popped up and when I asked for a quote they offered me a 25% discount. So I emailed Einvite.com to see if they would give me the same discount and I'm still waiting for a reply ::yes:: At the moment I'm trying to get all the discounts I can for the "little" stuff like invitations, Kippot, table favors etc as the main stuff like the aquarium hire, caterer, photographer etc we signed contracts for last year so the costs are fixed and I need all the spare cash I can get hold of to put towards this cruise :scared: :scared:

Seriously - if it hits 1:1 I'm on a plane to the UK to play tourist. Meanwhile, I'm slowly buying up pounds for the pre-cruise visit.

Don't worry - as Andrew has so often said, the dollar is sure to drop - it's value is absurd.
How much extra is the bank charging for dollar to pound?
See that's what I want to know too. I haven't ever had to exchange money, so what do the banks charge usually. I imagine it must be worthwhile for one or two large exchanges and less so for several small ones or is the fee based on percentage ?
I think its going to be discussed this weekend, whilst there are advantages to having a low rate for our economy, long term is will cause a lot of issues.
Currently we are the bargain shop of Europe so thats good as people are coming in to buy in our shops, but if we have to import thoose the price will go up.
The thing is a high $ will hurt the USA in the long term, imports will be cheap and exports expensive so hurting USA Jobs.
My back was very bad yesterday :crazy2: but has a slight improvement today.
Glad your back is feeling a little better. Be careful not to move too much or it can get irritated again. Hydratherapy is good-sometimes just standing in a hot shower can help a lot:flower3:

Don't know if this is useful for any of you lot but there is a company called fairfx (www.fairfx.com) and on their website you can buy a pre-paid Mastercard and then just load it up whenever you want. I think it cost a little to purchase it but after that there are no charges for using it to pay for things as you are paying in the local currency, only for using it at an ATM to withdraw cash. There are a lot of us UK folks use it when we come over to the US but it might be a good way for you lot to buy a few £s and EURs now at a good rate. You may need to get 2 cards though, 1 for the £s and 1 for the EURs.

That's ok, I had to search the site to find it and it wasn't easy. I was going to order one for DD for her trip this summer, oh well. I did bookmark it since they said they will open it up to int'l customers and I'll just keep checking. I just wonder if there's a card like that available here with such good rates. :confused3

Izzie that is great info:thumbsup2 I'm gonna save the site and use it when it becomes available for us:cool1:

Izzi, if their shipping rates are too high (:scared: ) to ship to the UK let me know and you can always order them and have them sent to me and then I'll send them onto you.

Barb, thank you soooooo much for the offer.  They have said that the approx rate will be about $150 but until they've done the work and weighed it they can't give me an accurate cost. I'm not sure if thats a good rate for shipping or not as I don't know what the package will weigh ???

You can get an estimate of what the US postal service charges for mailing a package from this site: http://ircalc.usps.gov/ . I don't know if you are ordering basic invitations or something elaborate but you might be able to guess at the weight. I just did a quick check and a 10 pound package would be anywhere from $40-$72.
Of course this rate is for a person mailing a package and not a business. We all know that businesses like to gouge their prices.

But the company looks like they are way overcharging you for shipping. When I ordered my Henry from the UK last year I only paid about $100. (with the exchange rate) to have it shipped here, they charged me about 50GBP.

I'm guessing that the package would be actually be quite heavy as it will consist of

100 x Invitations (folded card type) and envelopes
25 x Additional envelopes for when I make mistakes addressing them !!
100 x Response cards with envelopes
75 x Thank you cards and envelopes
25 x Reception cards

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I'm with you, I have no clue what that would weigh either. But I would think closer to 15 pounds if not a bit over.

Use your best judgement, but just know the offer is there. But I would rather deliver them personally but those shipping costs would be so much higher for you. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I just used the USPS link and checked a package that was 20 pound and it comes out at $114 so if they charge $150 I guess they're not taking the P*** to much
