handing out shots of the "national drink" must be the thing to do in tourist areas. I can't tell you how much tequila we were offered in Mexico. Even the 10 year old!!!:scared1:

It was Denrus (who also run tours in St. Petersburg). It's mentioned in post #4 on this thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=796959
Obviously I have no idea if it's actually accurate or not.

i've been to Mexico numerous times and nooone ever offered me tequila!

i've been to Mexico numerous times and nooone ever offered me tequila!

Our guide on the Sierra Madre off road adventure (great excursion) had a lifetime goal of tasting every type and brand of tequila. And he certainly didn't see leading a tour to be any reason not to work on his quest :rolleyes1

Same here I've had a disappointing week (not the parent visitation, other issues) and this thread has been a BIG diversion.....thx to all.......:grouphug:

Sorry you've had a bad week, but I'm glad that we've been able to "divert" you :grouphug:

I thought I would have more time today, but I had training all day and some unpleasant meetings so now I'm catching up AND ENJOYING MY WEEKEND. We have what you would call a "bank holiday" on Monday (Martin Luther King Day) so I'm not back to work until Tuesday.:rainbow:

How fab :thumbsup2 . So I don't expect all you US folks to be on till much later today and then I expect there to be LOADS and LOADS of you chatty folks about as you've all got a holiday today :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

My guess would be that there would still be problems, even if they put some sort of screen over the front of the engines. The air is being sucked into the engines with such force that the birds would just be torn apart from the force against the screen. They there would be millions of bird parts throughout the engines that would probably muck things up. Did that make any sense?

EEWWWWWWW perfect sense than you. TMI this early in the morning :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I found a website for an international student card on google. Not sure if it is legit or not:confused3
http://www.istc.org/sisp/index.htm?fx=static&page=istc_info/isic_how_to_apply.html

That is the site to order the card. It's really not necessary unless you will be traveling a lot and on your own. Anastasia actually told us to not worry about ordering it and she would make sure the students got the discount, which she did.

But they do offer a teacher's discount card, so some of the teacher's on here might want to look and see if it's worth it for them to order it.

I'm going to stick this on the 1st post as this is GOOD info and I know of at least 3 teachers that are going to be with us so there maybe more. :goodvibes

We're still up in the air about Berlin. I'm waiting to see what DCL offers (and how much it will cost!!!) for Germany. There's just so much history in Berlin, that I can't imagine being so close and not going there. On the downside, I'd be too afraid of the timing to book a private tour. And I'm also not sure that I'd want to spend half of my 12 hours in port on the train.

Lots to think about there.

It's both!;)

Anastasia is the owner and it's also the name of her company. We have her confirmed for a tour, but we'll need to alter the itinerary somewhat to account for our late arrival in port. There were a couple things that we might add-on or switch, but all in all, we were happy with her tour and preliminary pricing.

We''re also booked with her for the 2 days. We're not trying to cram to much into the 2 days as we've got a bunch of kids with us but hopefully we're going to get a really good flavour of parts of the city :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

This is too funny.
But you forgot to add when crossing the street you must cross 4 traffic lanes in 2 seconds or less or you will be run over. :scared:

Too funny about the vodka, we went to 2 different souvenier shops for shopping and a bathroom break and as soon as we entered they were standing there with a tray full of little vodka shots for all. :drinking:

I don't drink vodka, but how fun is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

We were all given the 'ladies' vodka. Apparently there are several different strengths of vodka and they hand out the weaker one. Can't remember what it was actually called tho. It wasn't that much, but you know you had just had a drink.
The shots were little, think the little cups they use in churches.
None of us were vodka drinkers either, but apparently it's rude to turn down a drink from your host. So we all drank it, including the 3 or 4 older kids. The 14 and 15 yo girls didn't have any, even tho we told them they could. I think the 16 yo boy tried it the first place and definately didn't have it the 2nd place. The older 3 tried it both places.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHH I must tell Paul about this. Vodka is his favourite drink ..... he'll be in 7th heaven :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Well I'm all ketchuped now. AS I'm sure you are all aware I wasn't about this weekend.

Did you miss me ????

The reson was my selfish, uncaring ,nasty son Joshua (no not really). You see on Saturday he and I spent 4 hours, yes that's right, count them, 4 hours tidying his room up by sorting through his clothes and cleaning up his desk. As his desk is now tidy, this means he can move the laptop back up there and as the laptop is actually his he does have the right to have it there. Unfortunatly this means that I can't sit in the lounge using the laptop to "chat" with you lot.

I can see some negotiations being held in the very near future so that I can chat in the evening and at weekend. I will not be held back from my friends :sad2: :sad2:

Ok I need Queen Googleicious here ....... what is Red Velvet cake ??

Thanks for the hugs everyone. I/we will be OK, I hope. It's just really, really tough to be a parent sometimes.

Not everyone gets a holiday today! We lose out on quite a few holidays at Boeing so that we can have the paid time off over the holidays and the day after Thanksgiving off.
IIRC, our paid holidays are New Years, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
