7/18/2010 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo!! Part 2

I just drove home from the Northeast through the sleet and rain. At least the roads were just wet, but it was a white-knuckle drive. I'll feel much better after Linda gets home from work tonight. She was stuck on the ramp to the Expressway this morning, helping out at an accident scene (she's a nurse). Somebody flipped their car on the icy ramp this morning.

I'd much prefer Julie's fluffy snowflakes over sleet and ice.

I hope Linda gets home safely! :grouphug: Yes, we are still getting snow off and on, but nothing to impact the roads much (not that I drive anywhere, anyway!). Some of the snow this afternoon looked like fluffy cotton balls falling down -- it was gorgeous.

Feel better, Harole Ann -- I just replied to your PM . . .:goodvibes

The girls are so busy with all the tests and activities, concerts, Christmas pageant, etc. before they get out of school next Friday that I don't think they realize we sail on the Magic two weeks from tomorrow!

I'll bet you can't wait, Julie. It will be beautiful this time of year!

I was just watching our BBC News with the Ice storms of North East USA, they look very bad, with Electrical supplies out and lots of damage to cars, homes etc.

Hope everyone is OK.

We've been fine here in NY. In fact we got about an inch of snow this afternoon. Luckily, in the Pocono Mtn. of Pennsylvania, we only had a dusting of snow. But the school my son teaches in, in Massachusetts (about 45 mins. south of New Hampshire), has been closed since Friday because of ice and snow. He lives near Boston and said his area is fine but up north they really got hit with ice.

And yes we did have a wonderful weekend, thank you all for your wishes.

Hope Ethan is on the mend, Izzi. He must have been so disappointed to have missed the play.

Thanks to all for your wonderful cards and your great Christmas pictures.

I feel like I'm going to cry....we just found out tonight the desktop computer's hard drive is fried and we need a new one. Everything that was on there is gone. :sad1: So now we have to figure out what kind of hard drive to get and get it installed. Just what we need...another thing to do. :sad2:
I'm pretty sure all my pics that I had on there are saved. But now we are without a printer and DD has a huge project that needs to be written and printed out.
Technology is only good when it works properly. :dance3:

We are still getting rain and sleet on and off. I'm just glad neither has stayed around long enough to be a problem, yet. I'd rather have snow than this stuff, but I'd rather have neither of it.

So glad you had a wonderful weekend! We now have snow that is sticking and I can see it on cars parked on the street, eaves of a building across the street, etc.

I am starting to think more about the upcoming cruise -- for example, I was talking tonight about being in Grand Cayman two weeks from today!

That's terrible -- although if all your photos are backed up, it is not as big a disaster as it could have been (that was the first thing I thought of before I read all the way through your post:scared1: ).

I do need to put my pics from this past summer's cruise on a cd, although they are still on the memory cards.

Hope you don't get too much snow, but enough for it to be pretty for a while. I'll have to check it out on the morning shows. :thumbsup2

You cruise sounds better and better every day and it's getting so close now. You and the girls must be very excited.

Popping in for a GOOD EVENING!!!
We're supposed to get at least another couple of inches of snow again tonight. Your snow sounds very pleasant, Julie! Not sure ours is going to be the same! I just keep remembering that in 10 days we'll be in WDW!!!!!

Barb, I'm so sorry to hear about your hard drive. I hope some things can be saved.

It's a shame that something so beautiful can cause so much trouble.......our snow has ended............

Welcome back Maryann.......it sounded nice!

Yes, thx to all for the holiday cards........I still haven't sent my family ones out, I've been having trouble with the custom ones I had made with the girls picture......hopefully the NEXT set will be delivered tomorrow........

Grand Cayman sounds lovely..........I NEED A TAN..........I'm thinking.......can I swing a quick trip to Miami in Jan or Feb! I know, bad economy..........self-control...........

I had originally picked the 17th thinking it was my grandmothers birthday, but I then realized that hers was the 19th. When I was a child, we would celebrate her birthday and two weeks later we would celebrate mine and Grandpa's (both of us on the 1st of Jan). While "Gram" & I were not blood related (foster mother to my DM) she taught me a lot about caring for "Family" and that family is what we make it.

While thinking of this, I did some research on to what happened in history on the 17th of December and found that one of the more dysfunctional (or is that DIS-functional) families had it's premiere on Dec 17th. So here is the Holiday picture of the day:

Fab picture Andrew, I'm going to print it out and put it up in our playroom as the boys just love The Simpsons, especially Ethan.

Love the pic Andrew, even tho I never got into watching The Simpson's. I especially like the look on Marge's face while shovelling. :headache:

I believe it's supposed to be coming our way but only in the north. The weather forecast for London over the next few days is wet and mild. I didn't even wear my hat this morning !!! I do have a very silly looking black hat that I wear as I do not like feeling cold whilst I'm waiting for the train in the mornings. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ethan update - The aches seem to have gone, but he was coughing and sneezing this morning but seem in as very cheery spirit. He went off on the bus with Josh to spend the day at his future (hopefully) secondary school. Getting the bus is a big deal as he currently walks just 7 mins to school. The bus journey is 1 1/2 round north london and it's not a school service just a regular red london transport bus. However only the JFS kids get on it and the driver is not supposed to let any adults on it !!!

Greetings from the snowy mitten! We got 4.1 inches of the white stuff. :scared1: Had to shovel the sidewalk so my postal carrier doesn't have a fit! I hate shoveling before going to work. Yuck!

Izzy love your pic in front of Exp Everest! Gald to hear that Ethan is feeling better.

Hope everyone is safe and warm.

Yes, we are supposed to get a real storm on Friday into Friday night & again on Sunday! Active weather pattern:headache: :cold:

Paul is picking up Ethan in about 25 mins, it'll be interesting to find out what happened and how he got on.

I've only got another 2 days till I'm off for the holidays and then I've got 2 weeks off work :woohoo: :woohoo: Let's just hope that I've got a job to come back too:scared: :scared: Having said that there is absolutely no one to cover my job whilst I'm away so assuming I've still got a desk on January 5 it's going to be completely covered in work for me to return to :rotfl: :scared: :rotfl: :scared:
