We were at the Big Apple Circus last night, and I have to say, if anyone is in NYC in November through early January at some point, you must go. We go every year and it is always so wonderful -- a smallish one ring circus set up in a tent on the Lincoln Center property. For the past several years, friends of ours rent out one entire show for their holiday party (last night, this year), give friends free tickets, and serve food and an open bar before, ice cream at intermission, and party favors for the children afterwards! But even if you can't go that way :goodvibes it's a wonderful circus and worth seeing.

GOOD MORNING AND AFTERNOON BALLYHOOERS!!!!

HELLO, HELLO?? Anyone out there? Why was I the last one to post last night and the first one to post this morning? :confused3

:confused3 Strange, very strange indeed. :confused3

No no I am here just lurking .....I'm keeping my head down at work and things are a little fraught at home at the mo. Both Paul and I are very, very tired and I can only use the laptop in the lounge as that's as far as our wireless signal goes and Paul watches the TV in the lounge for football so I've been going to bed early :cloud9: :cloud9:

So upshot is I'm keeping "ketched up" but not much else ...... love to all:grouphug: :grouphug:

:grouphug: :grouphug: Home and work need to come first, along with the sleep :cloud9: . Just pop in when you can from time to time to let us know you are still around. :grouphug: :flower3:

Wow, that sounds wonderful, Julie!!!
One of my students just said this morning that he was supposed to go to the circus today, but his parents cancelled it because we'll soon have our trimester exams. I won't tell him how wonderful it was. :goodvibes

I know exactly how you feel.

On a lighter note, Tom and I are leaving right after school today for the weekend. We are going to a Pocono Mtn. resort. Needless to say, the hours, minutes, and seconds are creeping by........

It's amazing how much prep time it took us to be away for 2 days. :scared1: Luckily our DD and DSIL took our diabetic cat for the weekend and the aide is taking care of my mom. :goodvibes

DS is coming down tomorrow and leaving before we get back on Sunday so we won't see him at all, :headache: but he'll be home for Christmas.

We are planning on a quiet, no phones, no computer (sorry friends) romantic weekend as we'll return to the hustle and bustle before you know it.

Play nice in the sandbox, you all. (Actually, that is what is so wonderful about our thread - we all do!!! :dance3: :dance3: )

You'll always know where to find us, Izzi! I know alot of us are frazzled :crazy2: right now. Take the time you need for you and your family!

It's always a wonderful show, and different each year. Our favorite act last night was one where they had trained a huge Clydesdale and a tiny Shetland pony to do an act together and it was beyond adorable -- the little pony would wind between the huge horse's legs while he was walking, etc.

Great pictures again today, Julie! The girls have really changed!

I know -- when I see those pictures I realize that I basically have two young women and one tween now -- then I had two young teen/tweens and a kid . . . they grow up so fast, since that was just 3 years ago.

My middle one, who just turned 14, is often taken for a grown woman these days . . . we were eating out once at a nice place and I ordered a glass of wine and they asked her if she wanted one too . . . and last night an usher brought her a note from one of the performers who had spotted her and it had his name and phone number on it (let's HOPE he didn't realize he was writing to a 14 year old!) . . . needless to say, she did not get to keep that note:lmao:

MaryAnn, I hope you two have a wonderful relaxing weekend:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 It must be beautiful in the Poconos this time of year.

Evening all, start to the weekend,....

Julie nice pictures,

I see all the cookies as well, Everyone you have to be suttle with the shy TF, you are not suppose to ask for tags or even quote her full name,

But the cookies did look nice!

I have been gone all day and realized that I didn't miss much here, it's been very quiet. I'm guessing this is how it's going to be the next couple of weeks with all the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holidays. :santa:

Maryann--you and Tom certainly deserve a restful weekend. I hope you have a delightful time and that the two days feels like a week long vacation.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful cards and thanks for the magnet. I told Garry after I take off the refrigerator it needs to go in a folder with magnets for the door on the cruise:dance3: .

I love all of the wonderful Christmas pictures.

Garry and I did not get to celebrate much for our anniversary as we have both been sick this week; however, I did unwrap the fruit cakes I have soaking in apricot brandy and cut one. I thought that might cure us! That is probably my favorite thing of everything I bake. I guess because we have to wait so long to eat it!:) Maybe the TF would enjoy this too!!:confused3

The kids had their first snow day today. We had a mix of ice and snow yesterday. It was not nice.

Julie, I bet the girls are counting the days until you leave for your cruise! What a nice time to get a break from winter!

Keep warm everyone and stay well!:goodvibes

Feel better, Harole Ann -- I just replied to your PM . . .:goodvibes

The girls are so busy with all the tests and activities, concerts, Christmas pageant, etc. before they get out of school next Friday that I don't think they realize we sail on the Magic two weeks from tomorrow!

Hi Barb:wave2:

I may have missed it, but where is the current avatar picture from? I know it looks familiar but I can't place it.

I just changed it tonight and didn't say where it's from. DD & I can't remember the man's name on the horse. It's in the square in front of St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg. There is a palace behind the statue that the man had built for his youngest daughter and she set foot in the palace once, took a look out the front door and said she would never live in the palace because she wasn't going to be looking at the horse's behind all the time. So she never moved in.
We have made it our mission to figure out who is on the horse and then to figure out the daughter's name. Once we do that we will let you know.

Hope you are both feeling better soon.
Today is DH's b'day and I got him a fruitcake. He's the only one that eats it and he actually loves a really good one that is soaked in some sort of alcohol. Last year I got him one from Saks and he thought it was so good, so I got him another one this year. He looked like a little kid with his tin of fruitcake.
