Ouch - Somehow the elegance of the word "redundancied" doesn't make it any more pleasant than the crass American "laid-off".
I remember the first time I faced something like this. It was a small company and they called a company-wide meeting. I got to the conference room and noticed other people were slow arriving. Then the CEO walked in and announced "congratulations - if you're in this room you still have a job"

There was lots of dancing in the aisles and loud audience participation singing

However it was a very late night as we didn't get home till after midnight

. Mick Hucknall looks sooooooo old (I think he's about 44/45) but his voice is to die for

it has definately matured and mellowed with age.
This was the 1st gig in their 25 years greatest hits tour which will be their last. Once this tour finishes next May then Simply Red are splitting up and Mick Hucknell will then do his "own" thing so I am very glad I got to see them.
