Saw some chat a while back about meds - in the UK antibiotics etc. are not bought over the counter, you have to get a prescription from a doctor.

There are 9 pairs on my list, but I can't guarantee that a 10th won't slip in. This is After paring it down......and picking dressy shoes that match most of my dressy outfits.

Pharmacists can dole out some stuff, but antibiotics is generally a no - I guess to stop people getting them to treat a cold. You can get stuff for conjuctivitis etc. but"real" antibiotics is a scrip. No idea what the cost of seeing a doctor is as under the NHS it is free. A private prescription could also be expensive. Best advice - don't get sick at all!

Also looking forward to Barbs Warnemunde beer fest!

Yeah we are flying BA & have free bags as well, However they do not lug them around for you!

In the UK it is now more usual not be given anything for a sore throat. Just advice about yucky salt water gargling. Hope he is given a clean bill of health, and if not, he's not sitting next to me on the coach!

Do you need a sweater or jacket at night? I haven't gotten around to looking up the 10 day forecasts yet. We figured we'd pack clothing we can layer. I still am having a hard time cutting down from 10 pair of shoes....

I have seen it suggested to have a sweater or jacket. I usually wear mine on to the plane anyway since they are usually pretty chilly. Sweatshirt for a pillow and jacket for a blanket. Granted they usually end up as my daughters pillow and extra blanket while I shiver...

We are now officially on a Level 2 Heatwave alert, thats 2 of 4 with 4 the highest.

London temps have been 32c, and will be like that over the Weekend, and the Tube is a barbecue.

Inside my house it says 28c.

Green park is now Brown park and water levels low in London lakes such as Hyde park.

Sounds like perfect weather to me How's are the humidity levels? We just got over a 5 day heat streak of 90-95 degree temps with high humidity levels.

Just wondering what the best way is to get to and from London to Dover port is? I have rented a private apartment in London for 4 days prior, and some unusual water tower accommodation for 4 days after the cruise. There are 6 of us in our party. We are very excited to see London.

You have quite a few options:-

One of the best is a hire car with National, they have a drop off place just outside the port a ten minute walk back. Ensure open on a Sunday.

Train from London Bridge, Charring Cross, Victoria, or St Pancarus. To DOver Priory, they go about hourly on Sundays care train will split at Faversham or Ashford on many services so ensure you are in the correct part or you will go to Ramsgate. You will need a short taxi to the port.

Private taxi.

I do not recommend National Express coach too long.

Greetings from a train somewhere on the way to York. Thanks Andrew for the great weather in London. We are leaving before it starts feeling too much like home. We had a great time in London. Lion king was fabulous. The really used the entire theater. My only advise is if u use the HOHO or the Big Bus buy there tickets to the attractions. We went to Madame Tussauds and was able to avoid a huge line with the VIP ticket plus it was slightly cheaper.

Well we are now off to head North and I think the kids are ready for a slower pace. We all just got so tired. It reminded me of WDW, so much to see and so little time to see it in.

I think the last week is the slowest ! I've cleaned my house, done my wash, am half packed, all my paper work in order....don't know what to do with myself ??? I'm so excited I can't even sit still to read a book ! SO EXCITED !!

Ah - nice cool weather then We regularly get 35C with 90% humidity around here in the summers - although this one has been much cooler so far with all the rain.
