7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Sheesh - on top of everything else my daughter comes down with strep today and we leave tomorrow. Hopefully the anti-biotics work quickly!

Got our postcards for the exchange and I just want to put a disclaimer. We live in Lincoln, NE so I was forced to get postcards with the Huskers on them but my daughter and I are in no way Husker fans! (for those of you futball fans this is the equivalent for me of buying stuff from your most hated World Cup rival)

Look forward to meeting you all! (assuming my daughter gets well enough to fly quickly...)

I "feel your pain". My husband was at the dentist today (unexpectantly) getting a root canal following an abcess drained. He said better now than next week !!

Did they give your daughter a shot of antibiotics ? That's what our ped advises. Hope she feel better real soon !:flower3:

Her name is Lizzie. She is a toy poodle. 2.4 pounds I will upload a picture once I upload it to photobucket. She is apricot colored on the body with her face a dusting of place and a white spot on her chest.

The cats don't particularly like her, but they don't run away from her. Lizzie doesn't chase the cats which is good. The cats basically stalk her around the corners of the walls and the stair case.
That's not bad. They'll get used to her:thumbsup2
Two of my cats have actually charged the dog. I almost laughed because she is way bigger than they are-but they're tougher:rotfl:

Who's Going On A DCL TOUR ??

I thought it would be fun to post the DCL tours that we're doing to see who all is going with us !

Scrapycruiser ( Gina& Bruce ) : OSLO HIGHLIGHTS
TIVOLI GARDENS & HARBOR TOUR
CULTURAL SPLENDOR OF BERLIN

Where are you going ??
No DCL excursions for us-all DIY

Pictures like I promised.
OMG, too cute:cutie:

Works for me! Great antidote for packing stress, too. After all, there are W&D on the ship. Just stuff the clothes in any ole way.
Packing the electronics, though. That's a problem. I bought a nook so that I wouldn't have to bring a suitcase full of books!
Bringing my nook also. Nice to have so many books available in such a small size:cool1:

Sailed on the June 12 voyage. Maybe helpful information for those are just leaving:

Oslo: Hop on Hop off is excellent. They DO accept USD. Buses run timely for weekdays.

Copenhagen: Hop on Hop off excellent. They DO accept USD. Visited Amalienburg Palace "under construction." If you have to choose b/w Am. Palace and the Rosenburg, go to Rosenburg if you want to see a furnished Palace vs one in the remodeling stages.

Weather was nice, but we FROZE the entire cruise. Pirate Deck party was quick picture taking of the buffets/desserts and then eating the loot in our cabin while watching the World Cup. Long Johns would have been wonderful.

On land, the weather was pleasant but a hoodie was needed. Pack the sunscreen even if the weather is cloudy. We got sunburned.

Isle of Man, Liverpool, and London had a wonderful awaited heat wave. Glad I had capris and short sleeved shirts.

Happy and Safe travels to all of you!!!! Wish we were still there. The jet lag reminds me we still are.

Heidi
Thanks Heidi:goodvibes
Planning on seeing Rosenborg castle in Copenhagen. We were just going to take a taxi there after our segway tour. Any idea how much the taxi would cost from the pier?

Always Always carry on your electronics! ::yes::

Oh yeah:thumbsup2
And anything you would heart-broken losing

From what I remember they do for strep:confused3
Maybe ask your doctor about probiotics for the side-effects of antibiotics:rolleyes1

Too funny about the postcards-I gather that would be like my DH buying Yankee postcards:laughing:

Ouch:headache: Hope your DH heals up quick.

Congrats on the new puppy! What a cutie!!!!

Hope our westcoast friends fared well with the Earthquake

Hope daughter is ok and can fly tomorrow. She's on antibiotics so she will be fine.

Weather really has me baffled as to what to pack. We are limited to one suitcase without charge. We can fit going, it's the coming home part with our goodies that is the problem. On the Med we had to buy a small luggage in the gift shop. This time I think we'll pack a large collapsible duffle that we can always check if we run out of room.

Not bad 2 ports all to our selves

Tallin 1 other ship

In STP I wonder about the size of the Silver Sea & Regent Seven Seas those definitely have to be smaller than the Magic! & the Eurodam will be gone on our full day!

Copenhagen & Stockholm might be a little crowded?

Sheesh - on top of everything else my daughter comes down with strep today and we leave tomorrow. Hopefully the anti-biotics work quickly!

High dose motrin. Antibiotics will work if it is bacterial, but many sore throats are viral. White spots (exudates) or a positive rapid strep test indicates bacterial and antibiotics will help. If she does not have these then the motrin will help more than the antibiotics.

Good luck!

Ken

Anyone come across a Tallinn navigator yet????
