7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Remember you can back bottles larger than 3 oz. in your suitcase. I have a small bottle of the wrinkle releaser that I pack in a zip top bag and put it in our checked luggage.

I'm not sure that a steamer is allowed in your cabin just as a travel iron is not allowed. But you can use the iron in the laundry room and put a towel or cloth hanky in between your clothes and the iron to keep them from getting ruined/stained.

A friend was only able to book 2 of her 4 family members on the Catherine's Palace and Hermitage excursion and she is bummed. Is any one planning on canceling so I can get her to hover and try to grab the spots?

Marie

I will look for that Downey Wrinkle Release. Perhaps Target will have it. :laundy: Has anybody seen the travel size packages of toilet paper? In 2007 Target carried them but haven't seen them this year in the travel size product sectin
Bed Bath and Beyond has the travel size toilet paper. If you can't find any ,let me know as I have extra. I will bring you a roll at the DisMeet ! :rotfl2:

The steamer is a possibility. I do have one so I'll have to consider that :thumbsup2

DISBOARD MEET:
IST SEA DAY: MONDAY 7/19
3-4PM AT DIVERSIONS (IF IT IS FREE) IF NOT: MAIN LOBBY
:teacher:

We'll be there. Looking forward to meeting everyone face to face :grouphug:

That pesky 3.0 oz limit again :headache: I lost a brand new bottle of contact lenses solution in Cancun to the TSA because it was 4 oz. It made it through Detroit security going down but not Mexican coming home

We're unpacked from our Denver trip, so now I'll start putting out items for the cruise  So much to do in the next 19 days. :rolleyes1

Hi DIS Board Ballyhoo Cruisers-

I have been lurking for quite some time. We were supposed to go on the Mexico cruise in 2008 but the beginning of the recession changed all of that. I did not want to jinx us so I have been sitting on the sidelines since April 2009 with reservations to the Baltic. Now we are a group of nine celebrating my parents 50th anniversary.

Our travel group-

Cabin 2112
Don Jr. (me) 48
Anna 46
Deanna 14
Donnie 12

Cabin 2094
Louella (Grandma) ??
Don Sr. (Grandpa) 73

Cabin 2096
Curt 48
Sondra (my sister) 46
Charlie 2

We are looking forward to meeting everybody. :jumping1:

We'll make the DIS meet subject to no port talks or anything. Can't believe it is so close, but have no time to prepare:scared1: DH is away from TUesday until the Wednesday before the cruise and out American friends from the EBPC arrive first thing on the Thursday morning - panic!

Read on the main thread about difficulty getting Estonian currency - we bought ours from the Thomas exchange global place at Victoria, no problems

Celestine

I use www.ezforex.com - they had all the currencies and the package was special delivered.

For toilet paper - I roll my own. Just take a pencil and start rolling TP around it until you get the amount you want. Then put in a snack sized zip lock bag and you are ready to go.

We'll be there. Looking forward to meeting everyone face to face :grouphug:

Great idea. I will start working on that tomorrow!!!!

OMG, yes it is exciting:banana:
The first Baltic cruise has gone so fast. I can't believe it's almost over:sad2:

I had suggested to my DH about going back to the ship for lunch, but he was inclined to find a place for lunch in port:confused3
Rick Steve's book has a few suggestons we might try- I guess we'll play it by ear.

Yes, the Oslo card is great for this port:thumbsup2:woohoo:

Just finished putting all my paper work together and was looking at excursions. We are scheduled on the DCL Norwegian Adventure but, I remembered some posts about DIY. It would save our family around $160 to DIY. Anyone have any thoughts? Is this an easy DIY?:confused::confused:

Bed Bath and Beyond sell the travel size

I was so excited :dance3: I borrowed a BB& B coupon from a co-worker and rushed right over there. Imagine my disappointment :guilty: when they said they no longer carry it. He did say they could try ordering the trial size but it might be 3-4 weeks before it came in.:headache: Well my grocery store carries the large size so if worse comes to worse, I can buy a big bottle and put some into a smaller carry on size. :woohoo: I might try Target or Walmart. Oh, btw I did find the travel size TP at BB&B. They have quite a large selection of travel size products. Thanks for the tip Scrappy Cruiser :thumbsup2

Fish Extender List PM Celestine to be included
OK, as it is November 1, here is the list of those taking part in the Fish Extender. Unless anyone has serious objections, I suggest it be 1 gift/stateroom. It is about taking part, not "outdoing" others, but i'm sure that caveat is unnecessary with this group. Last date for joining is: Wednesday June 30.

MrsG
Marla Hellwig
Celestine
Bluegrassbelles
KathyinCitrus
MrsScooby
samanthasmom1
scrapycruiser
madisonznana
poohmomof5
mstinson14
cptjackandcrew
Meg'n'Walt

Is this the complete list of all who have FE's? I have FE gifts that "fell into my lap" while in Denver that I would like to give those on the list. I don't have an FE myself nor do I intend to get one at this late date. I just wanted to make sure I bring enough gifts along for everyone. I have never taken part in the FE exchange and I am wondering, are the gifts anonymous :wizard:

WELCOME !!!

Your family is going to have a wonderful cruise together !!!! :dance3:

Oslo is a very easy city to DIY !! We were there 2 yrs ago and will be doing it ourselves this cruise.

When you get off the ship there will be a TI, tourist info. Buy your city cards. Seems like they are around $30 each. They will take cc. If you want to see the Viking Museum or the Fram or Kon Tiki or Norweigan Folk Museum the ferry is very close by that takes you to the island with all the museums. Just ask someone to point you in the right direction.

You can use your city card for the ferry, the museums, the tram that will take you to the Vigeland Park, there's also, within walking distance, The Nobel Peace Museum and Akersus Castle, the Resistance Museum ( in the castle ).

The ship is so close to everything that we went back to the ship to eat lunch. Then went back in town to shop. Bought a pretty wool lap throw..very Norweigan !

Sorry my directions are a little vague. But trust me, everything is very close and easy to get to. If you purchase the Oslo Card you won't need any other money unless you purchase lunch or drinks.

Have a wonderful time ! Oslo is one of my favorite cities !!
