7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

:3dglasses
My you have all been chatty the past 2 days. :lmao: Just trying to catch up and say a big WELCOME :welcome::welcome: to all the newcomers to our cruise.

We are leaving for a driving trip out to Denver tomorrow for work related stuff. :car::drive: so I will be checking in when I can to keep abreast of what's going on.:surfweb:

Has a time or place been set yet for our DIS meeting once on board the ship? :teacher: We are hoping to walk into Dover as well before sailing, but I have a feeling once we're onboard we won't want to get off

DH picked up our foreign currency yesterday. They were unable to get any Estonian krooni so we'll use euros.:3dglasses They gave my DH the neatest print-out of what to expect the costs of all different types of items would be, food, clothing, beverages, gasoline, etc in Tallin. It showed the cost in EEK, USD, GBP and Euros.

I really do enjoy seeing the route that the Magic is taking that Andrew posts :dance3:

Have fun at the races tomorrow.:wizard: Your outfit sounds lovely!:flower3:

Hi Everyone,

I also have been just reading all the wonderful info. We received are travel documents last week. Finally got our room # on deck 6. Someone on the board mentioned renting a tux, In the past we always have received something from Disney about renting, but not this time. Did you do the rental on your own?

Thanks

Welcme Aboard:cheer2::cheer2:

There is a website that you go to for the tux rental. You are correct that DCL used to send out the info with the cruise docs, but not this time:confused3
I'm guessing the link might be somewhere on their website-
but just in case:
http://www.cruiselineformal.com/
Not sure if there will be many folks in formal wear. We are still debating:rolleyes:
and running out of time as I think you have to order at least 2 weeks before the cruise date.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around much! Between Kindergarten "graduation", high school graduation, end of the first time home buyer tax credit (I manage a large mortgage branch), end of school projects, 2 big grad parties, my mom's hip surgery, and just general life in a family of 7, and I make a bad travel friend! I do have my fish extended gifts ordered though!!!

I can't wait to see everyone! We leave for our 2 week pre-cruise adventure in Germany, Switzerland, France, and England in 18 days! YIKES! I have no idea how I am going to get it all done!

Can't wait to see you all!!!!
Oh you have the important stuff done;)
Sounds like an amazing trip:thumbsup2

So is anyone else going crazy not hearing anything so far?
I have 2 trip reports I am watching and no action
What are they thinking :confused3
Maybe they are having too much fun
I'm waiting!!!!!! :rolleyes1
Kay
Yes, I'd love more details, especially from someone doing the ports on their own, but MJ is blogging her trip (see below)

Don't have a Dis meet set up for on the ship yet.
Anyone have some suggestions for a place and time:confused3

That printout sounds cool:thumbsup2:cool1:
Scanning it and posting it would be great, but sounds like you are busy...so maybe just let us know what food and beverage prices are:confused3

Our documents got here today!! Makes it seem totally real.:thumbsup2

Great feeling isn't it:thumbsup2:goodvibes:woohoo:

Hope everyone gets theirs soon.

In case there are folks here that are not checking the Baltic thread on the main boards...

I'm planning on taking my kids to the Holocaust museum in DC sometime in the next couple weeks. (Figure it would be a good prep for Berlin)
If any in area would like to go as well let me know and maybe we can set up a mini Dis meet:goodvibes

We went there 4 years ago, I think it was. It was fascinating, but also sobering.

We were there yesterday ! We got there right at 10 am when they opened. Only had entry tkts for 12:30. Fortunately Bruce is retired military so we got right in. It's not a Smithsonian museum, so thought it wasn't as good as I expected. However, very impressionable , very sad ,esp the part about the children. We were there 1 1/2 hrs and didn't have time to read everything. Lots of reading !

Excuses Excuses Excuses Job & Work likely story we all know that you spend most of your time at the pub down the block witth free Wifi!:headache::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:

This is the 7/18 Baltic thread I think you have it confused with the Ladies Fashion thread on the Oxygen Channel! ::yes:: ;) :lmao: :surfweb:

With *off topic* warnings are you up for the next Moderators job??? :scared1: With a vacancy you could go for it.

Yes its noce following it this way as people who are blogging are having poor internet service, must say I found the Magic WiFi and internet poor in the Carribean last year, its not as good as some people make it out ot be and not worth the money, (IMHO).

Currency I am leaving it to the last minute, I can buy on the Saturday before our cruise if required but will not wait that long.

Pound is going up 1.44 to 1.48 in a week, might hit 1.50 next week, Euro got to 1.20 recently so pound going up both ways.

Will plan on Euros Dollars and credit cards.

DH has used cruiseline formal in the past and will again. Even though not everyone wears a tux, he doesn't mind and it gives us a chance to do a formal picture. Plus, he won't have to pack dress shoes or a jacket saving luggage space and weight. It really is reasonable for 12 nights. It seems DCL price is cheaper than some of the other cruise lines. Surprise!

My husband always rents his tux. Great not to have to pack suit and shoes. And I agree, price can't be beat !

Bruce and our son are renting tuxes for the Baltic cruise ( 7/18). Wonder what % of men will be doing the same ?

I am going in a Business Suit, on all my cruises the percentage of men getting tuxes has fallen, the Med was very low, but reports on this new Blatic was high. not sure if thats to save on luggage???

OK, DH has signed the contracts so I am now liable to pay for 3 coaches (2 to Dover & one back):scared1:

A few gentle reminders:

1. Please ensure you are at your collection point at least 5 minutes prior to your allotted time
2. Please ensure you have your envelopes to pay me or Paul
You are "billed" for each leg of the journey - each bill forming part of the joining instructions for that leg; so if you are a family of 4 only going to port, your envelope will contain £64. If your family of 4 is returning after the cruise you will either have one envelope of £128, or 2 envelopes of £64
3. If you have any problems, please contact us ASAP. You all have my cell number which will be on from some unearthly hour on the Sunday morning
4. If you miss your bus, i.e. you were more than 5 minutes after your pick up time, make your way to the Park Plaza County Hall where both buses will be departing at 9.15am
