7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Playing ketchup here.

Hello everyone I have been reading the blog forever but, just haven't had enough time to join. So now that I am ready I found out that I have to post 10 times before I can send a PM and officially join the "club". I will be sailing with you guys on the 18th along with DH, DD (10), DS (8). My husbands family and my sister will be joining us with a total group of 12.

I can't wait to get to some cool weather. We live in West Texas and have been in the 100's for several weeks now.

Thanks for all the great info from everyone you guys rock!!!
Welcome aboard:cheer2:

Well if you find the need to get rid of it, I'm your girl. I would use it all the time!
I think my DH will be packing it now;)
Unless we have major packing issues I'll be bringing it for you:thumbsup2
I'll let you know closer to packing time.

It took me awhile but I think I am caught up. I have been staying with my daughter since Thursday and go home tomorrow. DH and her husband are away at a shooting school. She is pregnant and has diabetes, so I am staying here just in case. A week ago my sil had to call 911 because she had a extremely low sugar level and he couldn't get sugar into her fast enough. So I am here to ease everyone's mind.
Hope things going smoothly with your daughter:hug:

So, would you be Nora? And what about Asta?
:lmao: Ok, took me a while to figure out where he got the name from. You are a Thin Man fan too obviously. I guess I am Nora:cool1:

His post is exactly what I imagine my husband's first post to the DIS boards might be! :)

Bridget
That's good to hear Bridget:thumbsup2
Actually I guess this is also payback for when I posted in his status on facebook without him knowing. He left himself logged in our home computer and I couldn't resist

I can help him out all he wants, he just needs to send his DW to FL to get all the info in person. :rotfl2:
:lmao::thumbsup2
I tried convincing him I needed that extra cruise to get into the next level of the Castaway Club so I could book Palo sooner...but he pointed out that we also needed that money for souvenirs. So amber and nesting dolls won out.

Hot day at Epcot, but spent part of it in Rose & Crown (I know, big surprise there). The crowds were very light, when we drove in there were rows and rows of empty parking spaces.

DD drove us from Epcot to dinner and then we did a bit of grocery shopping before coming home. She did rather well for driving along a construction route part of the time :scared1: , but she needs to remember to keep her speed up when going around a slight curve.
Good for the Alexa:thumbsup2
Still working on getting my Andrew to drive more. Funny the things we take for granted about driving.
Did you check out Akershus in Epcot? Can't wait to go back there after seeing the real thing:woohoo:

Just caught up with the past weeks worth of posts. Sorry not posting much but my dad is in the hospital with a brain tumor. Biopsy is tomorrow afternoon so hopefully we will have more information then. We are still working out final details for the trip on the assumption that this will all be resolved by then so hopefully we will still be cruising with you all as planned.
Oh, saying a prayer that it all works out:hug:

Laurie, too funny! Glad he finally is getting over his major case of LURKING! I keep telling my DH updates from the Dis board and finally asked him...do you want me to keep you posted? :confused3 He said yes dear:lovestruc:cloud9: But I don't think you'll see him posting anytime soon :scared1:
My DH is used to his umpire forums or his watch forums, or playing mafia wars on facebook:rolleyes:
Having to be nice on a Disney forum might be too much for him:laughing:

Okay just a quick weird question. My DH thinks we should take the kids shorty wet suits on the cruise so they can get more pool time. It is so hard to think about packing for cooler weather when it is 100 here. What do you think?
I thought I heard the pools will be heated.
I will probably pack my kids swim suits just in case as they don't take up much room.

2 more posts and I can finally PM to be on the list.

:thumbsup2:cheer2:
Umm you can really post anything:confused3

Is this your first cruise? (Just trying to think of stuff for you to post about)

We have not gotten our cruise docs :sad2: has everyone gotten theirs?
I emailed our TA, haven't heard back from her :surfweb:
Hopefully they come soon.
Kay

We haven't gotten ours yet either..........:sad2:
They arrive in batches. I noticed while I was lurking on the other Baltic threads that they had some later arrivals too. It'll be soon:grouphug:

You are officially on page 1 Sarah!!:cool1::banana::woohoo:

Disname:Toocoolmom aka Sarah
DH: David
DD: Caitlin (turns 10 on July 12th) - loves to read, write and solve mysteries
DS: Aiden - 8 - loves anything electronic, Pokemon and Bakugan
We live in West Texas and can't wait for some cooler weather. We will be traveling with my DH's entire family and my sister and her best friend with a total of 12.

:thumbsup2There you go Sarah.:cool1:

I didn't know if it had been reported yet, but DCL is putting up a virtual tour in Berlin on Facebook Thursday.

Playing ketchup here.

She is being so careful. Really trying to take good care of herself.
She goes to the doctor on July 2 and hopefully we find out whether it is a girl or a boy!! I want to buy baby souvenirs too!

Hey everyone, just found this website again. Sounds like everyone on here has been getting to know each other for awhile now. There are 6 of us travelling on this cruise...

Myself - Jen (33)
DH - Gord (33)
DD - Elizabeth (11) princess:
DS - Alexander (20 months) :wizard:
& my parents - Donna & Greg

I was skimming through the guests on here trying to see if there was anyone else cruising with a young toddler. This is Disney Cruise 7 for my parents, 4 for my dd and myself, 3 for my dh and first for my ds. We are all very excited.

Ladies, you know how you can buy "days of the week" panties? Well, I go shopping with Andrew and he finds me "port of the day" shirts!

We were at the mall and he saw a woman's shirt in the window of a store that had city names and stuff on it. Front and center it said 'Baltic Sea', so we had to go in and look at it. (the girls declined going in with us!:rolleyes1) We go in the store and he finds a different shirt that says 'London.' I told him we'd think about them! :sad2:

I did research on the Ice Bar previously and you can make reservations online up to 28 days early. We are taking the kids and going our first day in London. We thought it would give us a goal to stay awake that first day. I think we are going to eat lunch there as well.

What day is your first day?
We will probably go on Friday afternoon
Kay

Share Del.icio.usDiggTwitterYahoo! BuzzFacebookStumbleUponEmail Close [X]MONROE, Ohio — A six-story-tall statue of Jesus Christ with his arms raised along a highway was struck by lightning in a thunderstorm Monday night and burned to the ground, police said.

The "King of Kings" statue, one of southwest Ohio's most familiar landmarks, had stood since 2004 at the evangelical Solid Rock Church along Interstate 75 in Monroe, just north of Cincinnati.

The lightning strike set the statue ablaze around 11:15 p.m., Monroe police dispatchers said.

The sculpture, 62 feet tall and 40 feet wide at the base, showed Jesus from the torso up and was nicknamed Touchdown Jesus because of the way the arms were raised, similar to a referee signaling a touchdown. It was made of plastic foam and fiberglass over a steel frame, which is all that remained early Tuesday.

The fire spread from the statue to an adjacent amphitheater but was confined to the attic area, and no one was injured, police Chief Mark Neu said. The fire department would release a monetary damage estimate Tuesday, he said.

Travelers on Interstate 75 often were startled to come upon the huge statue by the roadside, but many said America needs more symbols like it. So many people stopped at the church campus that church officials had to build a walkway to accommodate them.

The 4,000-member, nondenominational church was founded by former horse trader Lawrence Bishop and his wife. Bishop said in 2004 he was trying to help people, not impress them, with the statue. He said his wife proposed the Jesus figure as a beacon of hope and salvation and they spent about $250,000 to finance it.
I'm sorry, but that statue is sort of creepy!

Keeping you all in my thoughts

Cold water doesn't seem to bother kids the way it does us. Are they heavy? (the suits, not the kids) If not, go for it. The might have lots of room. My granddaughter still wants to bring her bathing suit.
Kathryn has every intention of going swimming. We've told her it's going to be chilly, but that desn't bother her!

Welcome aboard! I just told our 11yo daughter about your daughter! She said 'cool!'

No toddler, but my wife (Kathleen) and I are traveling with our 2 boys (Gavin - 5 and Liam - 6 mo) and our parents. :)

I've bought them for my 2 girls. I know they'll want to be in the pool, so hopefully this way they won't be relying on a warm ambient temperature! Bizarrely I got them at a service station (rest stop) on the M4!

So exciting:thumbsup2
We have the ultrasound from my DS (now 16) on video tape-the doctor's office told us to bring a blank tape for a copy. Different place for my DD when she came along as we moved to VA and they wouldn't let us have a tape. However ...I bought my daughter's Christmas stocking with her name on it before she was born...way before:rolleyes1

Fun idea, but wouldn't you want to buy the shirts in port as souvenirs:confused3
But this way you can make sure everyone knows you're a tourist;)

Wondering if "someone" else didn't like it either-hence the lightning :rolleyes1;)

Another chatty day for y'all.

Yesterday there were records temps down here. DD & I were headed up to the outlets, so she could spend her b'day gift card, and we ran into a horrible rain storm. There were a couple of inches of water on the road in many spots. She was very glad she wasn't driving then, especially when hitting the low spots in the road and the water splashing everywhere. Plus I didn't think she was ready for the I-4 traffic yet.

With all the times we go to Norway at Epcot, I don't really pay attention to the buildings there. I'll have to take a good look at Akershus when we go back over there. We only went into the Stave church there about 6 years ago, we always just walked past it.

Welcome to the new cruisers. :upsidedow
Thoughts and prayers to all who need it. :grouphug:

Thanks for that. Now everyone will know who are kids are? Just look for the wet suits!:yay::yay:

Okay, here is a questions for all the UK'ers online. My DD birthday (July 12) is while we are in Edinburgh and we would love to take her to do something fun for dinner. Any suggestions? She loves Harry Potter so we will try to do something Harry Potterish that day. Also we are staying on The Royal Mile so we will for sure make the castle.
