7/14/2014 - 12-Night Mediterranean Cruise (with Greece) Venice to Barcelona

I'm curious too. It would make me a little nervousness, but I'd be very interested depending other other's feedback. Certainly it would make life easier when traveling with kids. How much does it cost?

According to their website, http://www.luggageforward.com , it will cost me $204 to ship a small bag of 25 lbs. A little pricey, but I'm going to have my hands full doing some solo touring around s. Italy precruise. I don't need to be wrestling with a piece of luggage that I won't need until the cruise anyway. So, it may be worth it to me for that reason.

The price seems what I expected. Too bad it's for 25lbs. That doesn't allow for much - a suitcase full of clothes for example. Still I wonder if anyone else has tried it.

I am planning on 1 long skirt with 2 tops for formal/semi-formal/Palo nights, another shorter skirt and a pair of capris that can be paired with maybe 3 or 4 other tops for casual nights. The skirt and capris will also be used for touring. I bring mostly light weight capris for touring so that I alway have knees covered for church entries. I have found they are just as comfortable as shorts. Everything except formal night clothing is easily washed and dried - by hand if necessary. We are also packing very light, so I will be wearing things more than once. We are doing some touring before the cruise that involves train and underground travel, so we are restricting ourselves to one checked bag and one backpack style carry on each.

So if I could only convince my DW that it is ok to wear a different top with the same skirt or slack, we could leave 1 whole bag behind. :woohoo: Until I figure out how to do that or until I am ready for "that" conversation better just figure on the extra bag. :sad2:

You could always strategically repack her bag, and leave one behind. Thinking about doing that with my daughter. :lmao:

Hi everyone. I just added this cruise. Well actually 3 as I am doing B2B2B spending 30 nights on the Magic. I am in 2111. I will be giving gifts on the FE list but not expecting gifts since it is so late. I am traveling with my friends Scott and Lynn, Michael and his parents on this cruise. We did the inaugural sailing to Venice last. Year. Loved Venice and the Disney Store there too. Do you have a Facebook group? Can't wait to meet everyone.

Anyone hear who our Captain and Cruise Director will be ? Natalie is currently aboard but the other threads have her leaving on vacation sometime in June. Capt John is also due for leave but not sure if that means soon or closer to July. We have always had Capt Thord and Christian in the MED and would love to have them back for this trip. :boat:

I was just on the Magic and if I remember right, Natalie will be cruise director. Captain John gets off after the transatlantic and won't return til the transatlantic coming back.

I haven't posted much lately, I am still in a depression about my mum. She has surgery scheduled for June 9. I have been reading up on secondary surgery for ovarian cancer and the stats are horrible. I am so conflicted and stressed. It is hard to do any planning. Sorry to dump. I am so hoping that I will still be on this cruise...send some pixie dust my mum's way.

Anyway, I can't recall if I have sent my menu choices for the dinner yet. Keener, please let me know if you need any information from me.

Thanks.

SLG, I am so sorry you are going through this. I'm in the same boat, and hope to be ON the same boat with you. It's one reason we haven't committed to much of anything. I'll send pixie dust your way, you send it mine, we both make it, and we'll toast to life during the sunset in Oia, 'kay? pixiedust:

Thank you for your supportive words. I will for sure send pixie dust your way. If you would like to send a PM with more details, please go ahead. However, I understand if you don't want to discuss.

It is very hard to get too excited with this hanging over our heads...but the anticipation is part of the fun.

Trying to stay positive. Good luck.

You are my new hero, 30 days would be great.

Hoping she is still aboard in July, we really enjoy our interactions with her. We see her a lot around the ship and in the clubs at night, love chatting her up :goodvibes

We sure hope all goes well with the surgery and the recovery pixiedust: With everyone's pixiedust things just have to go well.

We are planning to do Mykonos on our own - Anyone Else ?

We also still have not decided about Malta. We did the Tale of Two Cities last visit and visited the Magisterial Palace, St. John's Co-Cathedral, Mdina, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Ramparts. Thinking we may stroll on our own here as well.

We will likely do Mykonos on our own like we did last year. I'm signed up for Delos, but I know the rest if my family has no interest in that. I'm wavering myself on Delos.

Malta is another one we are still a bit unsure of. This will be our 3rd time to Malta. We've gone to Mdina and the Blue Grotto among other places. We haven't actually walked around Valletta yet so that's probably what we'll do.

Linda - Welcome!

slg - Prayers and Pixie Dust.

We will also do Mykonos and Malta on our own, just enjoying wandering the towns.

This is such a port rich cruise I am a little nervous we are not getting enough down time, a person is supposed to have a little rest and relaxation on a vacation too. :beach:

My daughter and I did Mykonos on our own last year. Very easy to do. Easy walk to the windmills and shopping and restaurants are wonderful. Can't wait for another crepe with nutella and strawberries!
