7/13/13 ~~ Eastern Mediterranean Mouseketeers!

@doberlady -- I added your stateroom number to the roll call. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that one located in the middle of the ship opens up for you soon!:)

oh and we are

#6509 11B (God help me). No window for 12 nights. I get seasick so I don't really mind all that much. My husband could care even less so I think it will work. I have never seen an inside cabin in person. Doesn't look that bad online. Figure we will be spending so little time in the cabin with a med trip. I did want to be more mid ship though and we are all the way to the front. Will keep looking for better room #'s as time goes on. I figure in a few days there will be a lot more cabins opening up as the 3 day holds expire.

We figure what we would pay for an OV we can spend on excursions.

On the 2007 Med, I think we literally spent time in the cabin just to sleep, we were so busy doing excursions. At the end of a "trip of a lifetime", I felt a little sorry that we didn't enjoy the Magic at all. Sooooo, we did an Eastern Carribbean the following year just to feel like we took a cruise and not a floating hotel!!!!!!! :lmao:

Honestly, some of the excursions on the 2007 were full day and those that weren't we did 2 so we really did come back to the ship to change, eat dinner, and sleep. On sea days, the decks are so beautiful you can just grab a chair or enjoy the pool if you feel up to it. There's plenty going on inside, too, if being outside is too much for you. You will have a great time!

Finally made it over here!! :thumbsup2
The boards have been running sooooo slowly for me. Anyone else? :confused3
Time to read and catch up to speed :surfweb:

Im_A_Princess ~ (Chrissy), DH (Brett) only us...no kids this trip. From Maryland. Main (1st) Seating. Stateroom 7620. *FE*
Just realized my Birthday is while on this cruise! LOL 7/16

**I can be the Meet & Greet Coordinator if not taken yet

Thanks so much for doing this.

Triple ditto everyone else .... WE ARE GOING TO GREECE! :)

I posted a couple of trip reports on the first page so enjoy!

Also, at some point we will need to come up with a slogan -- I just called it the Eastern Med Mouseketeers to get us started. Don't mind at all if the group comes up with something better. I'm also organizing an Alaska thread this summer and I was able to get Millipie to do a super logo for us. Here it is...

MidnightSunMouseketeerspreserver-1.jpg

So ... I'm hoping that there will be someone here who will volunteer to arrange getting a logo made once we all agree on a slogan -- someone can get us organized on coming up with a slogan too! There was a great one done for a Baltic cruise a few years back. In fact, maybe some of you were on that cruise?!

Our meet thread is only two days old and we are moving along at light speed. I so look forward to planning with you until we all meet on the Mickey Boat!

Beth

Beth, I kind of like our name. I vote to keep it. After all, I already made my rotating banner about Mouseketeering in the Med!! :rotfl:

I am one of the least creative people so designing anything is out, but I am thrilled that this thread has taken off and will help in anyway I can. Let's hope we keep up the pace. popcorn::
Can't wait to meet everyone. :flower3:

I am so glad there is one or more people on here who have done the Med before. Calming me down! LOL

It also seems (still reading and catching up) that a lot of people here have done a number of DCL cruises.
This will be our 16th if the other 2 cruises reserved are taken. May even add a Christmas Holiday 2012 in the cruises mix. Still looking at those.
How many DCL cruises has everyone been on? :wizard:
It is great to have some experienced people here!!! Like I said above I am glad for the experienced Med. cruisers here! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Is Mouseketeering a word?? LOL

It is now! :rotfl:

You certainly are a veteran cruiser!
This will be our 7th DCL cruise. We've never sailed any other line and don't intend to. We've done the Eastern & Western Caribbean, 4 day Bahama (with our then young adult children), 2007 Med, 2010 Baltic, 2011 Alaska and we loved every one of them. DH & I often talk about which was our favorite and each one of them was so different and holds a different place in our hearts. But I do have to say, there is something special when we remember the Med. It was so asthetically beautiful and we got to visit Sicily (where both our families come from) and the Vatican (a lifelong wish) and Pompeii (unbelievable) and...... you get the idea. Not that the Baltic and AK weren't as wonderful, but the beauty of the Med is more than physical beauty. The history of the area, the romance of the ports, and now Greece in the mix. Wow.

Hello! Our girls are almost the same age. Our girls love to make friends on their cruises - we should plan to meet on board to introduce our kids.

Definitely!!! I do hope your family will keep your ressie and be joining us! I know our girls would absolutely love to meet each other!

:grouphug:

Day 2 of the ressie and we are planning up a storm! I wonder how many days will pass between now and next summer in which "the cruise" will not be the topic of discussion!?!?!

I don't want to wish time away...but....

We got our luggage tags today for the March 4 MR we were supposed to be on....at least we weren't disappointed b/c we had booked this yesterday!

Will volunteer for whatever needs to be done! I'm game!

You can add us to the roll call. Can't remember our room number but we are second seating for dinner It is myself (Debby),DH, DS (16 at the time), Ds (14 at the time). Must admit that we are not certain yet but I have it booked and am definitely hoping that we can swing it. We did the Med cruise in 2010 and love the idea of the new ports. I am interested in doing FE so add us in to that list as well. We are booked on the Fantasy for July 14, 2012 so this one will be our 9th cruise on DCL and 11th in total (I regret both cruises we did on other cruise lines- nothing matches Disney).
I have some port information from our last cruise (we booked private tours because they worked out to almost the same price since we are 4 people). Unfortunately all of my information is in my head so I can answer questions better than providing it directly. My suggestion is wait before looking at airline prices. Travel costs to Europe drop constantly. In the end we paid about 800 a person to Barcelona (we flew when the volcano had erupted in Iceland what a mess).

BTW: It looks like you live very near me in Northern Virginia. Maybe we've even driven by each other on the Fairfax County Parkway!

This is great info!! Thanks!! It's great to know there are people here who have cruised the Med with Disney before! We've actually been all over Italy... we covered pretty much all the major cities, plus a few smaller towns in 3 weeks, and just loved it! We've never been to Greece, Turkey, or Malta. My husband has been to Bacelona a few times, though. So, this info is so great for us, especially for the places we've never been to before! :thumbsup2

When I have questions about port info and private tours, I'll be sure to ask!

I also agree about the travel costs to Europe.... they can drop suddenly, and also airlines can come out with good deals. We travel tons, and I've found really great airfare closer to the dates... but it doesn't always work that way, so I suggest for everyone to figure out what is a good airfare price from your home city, and just keep checking weekly or even more often, and you might just happen to look at the airline prices at the right time, and find that excellent deal!! :thumbsup2

My DH travels internationally for work, and he racks up tons of airline miles, so we are going to try to use miles for our tickets... but that is sometimes harder than the airlines make it out to be because they only release a certain number of mileage ticket seats per flight. So, we are going to start looking for our tickets way earlier than we usually do, just in hopes we can snag for mileage ticket seats and get free airfare! Fingers crossed!! Probably can't start looking until July of this year when booking windows for July 2013 start to open up.

:):)Welcome Aboard! You have been added to the roll call! :):)

Please excuse my unfamiliarity with Dutch first names (though my last name is one), as I wasn't sure if your children were boys or girls. If you could let me know, I'll add the DS or DD to their information in your roll call entry. Thanks!

How does this sound everyone regarding getting some sort of simple logo done now. I'll ask Millipie (who is so talented and generous with her designs) to modify the wording on her design that appears above. I'll ask her to have the wording "Eastern Mediterranean Mouseketeers" appear up at the top of the life preserver and the wording "July 2013" down at the bottom in the middle of the life preserver. Not sure if she can fit "Med" or "Mediterranean" up in that space so we'll have to see what she thinks. And that can be a generic logo that we can all use for anything we want. Later on if people want a different slogan with something fancier as a logo, we can change it out! I'm cool with whatever the consensus is as I have no talent whatsoever for making logos. Photoshop and I do not see eye to eye and I'm rather terrible with text boxes too, so I'll leave the creativity to other people on our meet board and over on the design board!

Also, I've posted our meet board request to Irish Cowboy so that should get added to the general Magic 2013 meet thread soon. When that happens, more cruisers should be able to find us.

I think I gave you a wrong cabin #

we are #6309
