7/13/13 ~~ Eastern Mediterranean Mouseketeers!

Thanks so much for making the spreadsheet! I posted some info. We said we would only participate in one group of 25 and we're still unsure about SM more because we're concerned about fitting everything in our luggage! :lmao:

Uh oh. Do I dare ask -- what's a candy exchange?

Oh, a candy exchange is fun and is much easier than the FE, really, if anyone else is interested in it. :cool1:
While some people like to give candy as an FE, this is different because you will have a list of about 25 people (individuals) in each group & they all just give any type of (usually snack size) candy to the people on their list at anytime during the cruise. This is great for different types of candy from different parts of the country & the world - especially is it's something that is unavailable any place else!! You don't even have to hang an FE up if you're not doing that, just any kind of bag hung from your "fish" will work for the candy droppers.
....If anyone is interested in starting that sign-up, I could always add another column to the spreadsheet.........:thumbsup2

All this talk about Fish Extenders, Secret Mickeys and now a candy exchange... you've got us excited! We've never done an FE, but after reading all the great posts, count us in.

Yes, you will have so much fun! :goodvibes

Please remove us from your Meet & Greet. Bruce and I have cancelled and booked the June 3,2013 Alaskan Cruise. This would have been our 3rd Disney Med cruise and we decided to do something different, also cheaper. We'll miss our son, Cousin Orville and his family but will enjoy Alaska. We lived in Anchorage for 3 years and have wanted to go back someday. Have a great time in the Med !!

I removed you from the FE list too. :hippie:

Oh great! So glad that it worked for you...hope the kinks are all behind us now! We can set a deadline for sign-ups down the road, but I'm thinking we should leave it open until a couple months before sailing...?

And I know what you mean...luggage can be so hard. It's not just the extra costs (which are a pain) but the lugging it all around too! :sad2:

So I try to do light weight stuff....and end up over-packing anyway.
:rotfl2:

Okay, while I'm at it.........working on the computer today from home, so keep drifting over to the DIS.... :rolleyes1

I am thinking of setting up a FB page for anyone who wants to chat there. I know from experience that it can get crazy if people try to keep up with planning in TWO places, but we can use it for (faster) chatting & keep the heavy duty planning over here, in one place...?

Just a thought - we have one for our other cruises & it helps with the easier chatting & also has the "face" connection to begin to get to know each other a bit. I'll post the link here if anyone is interested, and if anyone wants to "friend" me, please do.
:hippie:

I would be interested. I'm on Facebook all the time thanks to my iPhone and I agree it would be faster/easier chatting and getting to know faces.

Alrighty...here it is!

I left it as a "closed group" where you request to join, but then you should be able to add anyone you want to. This keeps it a wee bit private because only members of the group can post this way...!

If I sound extremely senile from time to time, no worries, it's just that I'm balancing 4 DIS groups with 4 FB groups at the moment...oh, and because I actually *am* senile too. :rotfl2:

We are hoping to book this cruise next month while we are on the Fantasy-the discount and the reduced deposit fee being the reason for the wait.

Wow, the prices are insane but it's my birthday next year and our 15th wedding anniversary so I think we should invest in a nice vacation. We did the May Med in 2010-it was wonderful! So excited about the Eastern ports!

When is your birthday? Mine is July 15 so I'm so excited to be in the Florence port that day, I've been to Florence and Pisa before so I'm looking instead to take the short 15 min train to Cinque Terre, the 5 seaside villages, to enjoy a day of food, wine, and relaxation- can't think of a better birthday!

Hi All,

If the FE groups are at a groups of 25 (or less), we might be interested... or we might do a candy exchange, but wouldn't do both. Our biggest concern is purely just space in our luggage (because we'll be traveling in Europe on either side of the cruise, so we won't have much extra space), but we have always loved the FE Exchange.

Don't sign us up yet... I want to find out if there will for sure be just groups of 25. If not, then I want to hear more about the candy exchange. :) That sounds like fun, too!

I will join the FB group... I'll get to that sometime this weekend.

Hope you all are doing well and have fun plans for St. Patrick's weekend!

Kathy

ps. Just adding an edit to this post... I just saw the FE list on Google, and see it says that at some point, the FE Exchange will be divided into groups of 25. When I wrote this post, I had thought people were just discussing possibly doing that. I didn't realize it had been decided. We will probably sign up, then. :)

I prefer just to meet here rather than on facebook. Too many things to look at. So please post stuff here as well...

UH oh....facebook is my downfall! I'm on it way too often :rolleyes1

I keep forgetting the luggage space issue with the FE's! Last time I think we used half a suitcase. But it was worth it. We had fun & there were so many great surprises!

How cool, same birthday! Florence is still beautiful even if you can't go to the museums. The churches, architecture, sidewalk cafes, and wonderful jewlery shopping are just a few of the things I loved there. I'm very excited to do something new though and go to Cinque Terre this time.
