Over the past 6 months my son has had 6 severe headaches. They almost always take place in the middle of the night. He wakes in tears and the pain is so severe he can barley move. We have tried to give him medication and each time he has ended up throwing up within minutes. Usually I sit and rub his head and back until he falls back to sleep. When he wakes in the morning he is just fine. This morning for the first time he woke with one. I gave him medicine and he got sick. He had an empty tummy so it was just the medicine, but he managed to bust blood vessels all over his little face.
I decided to search the net on headaches in children and got a bit scared. So I called my pediatrician, which made a apt. for this afternoon. After describing his systems she was concerned and has schedule an MRI for Wed. at 7:00 p.m. I am so scared for my little guy. I did request that they give him "sleepy juice" before the procedure because he will need an IV and my husband and I can't be with him.
Please if you can send any good thoughts, kind wishes, or prayers. My Hayden needs them.
Thank you so much!!
Kim
UPDATE:
Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes for Hayden. He was so brave during his MRI. They even let my husband stay with him. We hope to have the results this afternoon, tom. morning at the latest. Please keep Hayden in your thoughts. We have never been so scared. I will post when I know something.
Thanks again,
Kim

Hang in there!

) She had the contrast also, no sleepy juice on the first one. She was in there for 1 1/2 hours!! She cried somewhat towards the end and complained of a headache. I asked originally for something to knock her out and they said they only do it under 5 and that she would be fine....she wasn't. Once they found the spot on her vertibrae they requested another and this time she had everything including an anestesiologist (sp) during the procedure. She doesn't remember a thing and is not nervous about the biopsy now that she's been 'asleep'. I was allowed to stay w/ her during the first one but she couldn't hear my voice to comfort her and of course couldn't move. Please....question if they have that numbing cream that they can put on 15/30 mins b4 IV ( he won't feel a thing) Push for some kind of med to knock him out...its scary enough and you don't want him to have to go thru this again. Good luck w/ your DS and try to be as persistant as possible about the cream and the meds.
