I am wondering if we would need something...what are the stroller options like @ WDW? Is this a more cost-effective option? Are strollers hard to get @ WDW? As in, would we have to be there at the crack of dawn?

Do you recommend renting one from somewhere else?

My kids are 6 & 3. I'm pretty sure the 3yo will need a stroller at some point and the 6yo, well he gets pooped too.

BTDT?

The 1st time we went my kids were 3 and 6 and they both needed a stroller. We brought one and used one provided by the owner of the condo we rented form. Now my 6 y.o. is very athletic and is like the Energizer bunny but he still needed it! You may want to do a search on strollers as there are many threads about them...then you can find lots of info- HTH!

My dds were 4 and 6 the first time we went, we took one umbrella stroller and the girls shared it. It worked out pretty well with them taking turns. Of course the 4 year old got to ride more than the 6 year old did, but it was enough rest time for the 6 year old.

They are quite expensive at WDW..$31 a day for a double and it may be too small for your 6 yo. I have read on this board that there are new double strollers and they are smaller.

Check out threads for a stroller share or consider bringing 2 singles. Or consider renting:

You will definately need 2 single or 1 double stroller. Not only for your kids convenience but for yours also. Another good thing about the strollers is that you can stick jackets, snacks, etc in the storage basket and will not have to carry everything.

Keep in mind that if you rent a stroller at the parks you have to turn them in before leaving the park. That means that if your child is tired/sleeping, you have to wake them up to walk (read "carry") them to the parking lot.
Obviously, if you have your own strollers you just wheel them right to your car.

Also, just want to say that we rented from ABBF (not a stroller but other baby essentials) last year and we were very pleased. Would definately use then again.

Have a great trip.

Karen :)

Bring a double from home! We'll be there in month with a 4 and 6 y/o and will be bringing ours!
It's handy when you are traveling to/from the parks, not just in the parks.
We use ours at the airports too. Just use gate check.

I would bring a double for sure. I am going with a 7 and a 5 year old and I'll be bringing a single umbrella for the youngest. I figure it will be handy to have somewhere to put stuff as well.

We liked having 2 for when dh and I split up, one with each of the kids! Plus they're easier to fold up and put on the trams.

we are going in nov with a 6 and a 3 . i will be renting a single for my dd3, if ds needs a quick break they can swap. that being said we were there in aug ds was 5 , i rented a double, and he walked 5 out of 7 days so that made my decision. by the way i rented from orlando stroller rentals and loved them

We have brought our own and during later visits just rented a double stroller. Bringing your own is the more economical choice...but it has some load - unload responsibilities at the airport, Disney buses or smaller water launches.

Renting was less of a chore then bringing your own since you only have it indside the park. Once you leave the park you are on your own and depending on your actual needs this may be a good thing...or maybe a bad thing if you need to carry your youngest to the buses or monorail to get back to your resort.

Personally, when our kids were around 6 & 3 we rented. Disney strollers handle very well and the kids get in and out with ease. Clearly with the cost of the stroller rentals you can go out and buy one just for the trip and take it home. We found the rental to be much easier for them to get in and out of then other options. It was like home base for the kids and they had a great time knowing they could always take a break in the stroller. The were also better respected by crowds too (large-blue plastic) as we didn't experience so many people cutting us off or trying to walk over the stroller like we did when we brought our own on Main Street. Overall, I only ended up carrying the youngest once back to the resort twice and these are short carries from the park to the transportation option and to the resort room.

Definitely bring one or rent one! My kids were 7 and 4 the last time we went. My 7yoa loves that she can take a break in the stroller. I'd loved to be pushed around in a stroller if I could get away with it so I don't blame her. :goodvibes

indeed!

Same here. One stroller seemed to work pretty well.

I went in october with my DS6 and DS3. I rented a double stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals. Best thing I ever did. the rate was very affordable and I picked it up right at my hotel. It was awesome. I highly recommend it.

Here is my write up about the stroller, including pictures:

thank you thank you, I am going to book it today.

I considered the swap but I think for the short time we are going to be in Disney coordinating pick up and drop off from our offsite location will be a thorn in my side.

:) thanks all for the tips!

I think you'll be really happy with their double strollers. I did not want to purchase a new stroller. The disney strollers just seemed too hard. Renting theirs seems too good to be true!!!

Two suggestions, OrlandoStrollerRentals does not have cup holders or rain covers. Bring a cup holder or a stroller bag. If you're going when it's rainy, finding a cheap stroller cover may be helpful.

Have a great trip!!!

I'm definately planning on renting a double stroller for my 6 and 3 year old. I know them well enough, they'll need it.

I am trying to decide the stroller issue myself.

Our daughters will be 2.5yr and 15mo at the time of our trip. We know that they will both need to sit at times. We are unsure as to take 2 single umbrella strollers or 1 double umbrella. Any thoughts?
