6th Annual Christmas Thread

For my two nieces (5 and 7), I scored two big jewelry boxes last year at Kohl's after Christmas clearance. I got them for $4 each, regular $49.99! I've been grabbing deals as I see them at Claire's and Icing and have a bunch of necklaces, bracelets and things. They will love them, and I'd say I spent $15 each.

We recently switched from cable to DISH. In doing so, they gave us a free Ipad2. That will be dd's big gift along with gray Uggs she asked for. She is desperate for the Uggs, and pulled the "I don't want another thing, just those boots!!! card on us! :rotfl: I've been watching sales, and snagged a Vera Bradley throw blanket for her for $20 a couple weeks ago. I also got her a Ihome system this past week on sale for $49.99 and I had $30 in Kohl's cash to use so that was a steal.

I am doing great on deals to far! :thumbsup2 Now if I could just come up with an awesome gift for my parents. They are my hardest to shop for every year.

Anyone else suffer from " I want to shop, but love getting good deals"? Lol I'm worried if I buy now, I'll find a better deal later.

I used to be. Now I just save my receipts in case I find a better deal later. Sometimes the best deals come out two weeks before Christmas and I can't wait that long. It's too stressful for me!

Yay! All toys are bought and I am 100% done with Nephews 1 and 2. All I am missing for my other Nieces and Nephews is some sort of piece of clothing and then they are finished.

Still looking for a sweater for my stepmom though. She wants one to wear as sort of a jacket. Longer, neutral colored, with buttons, and a belt if possible. Anyone know where I should look? Am I just too early in the season?

I'm sometimes worried about finding stuff cheaper later. But what I do is, once I decide what I want, I check all over the internet for prices to get an idea of what the price is- so I know when to buy if the price drops. I also add everything to an Amazon wish list because they'll tell you when the price drops- I just occasionally look at my lists and see if anything has gone down. I also think it depends on the item- like DD wants Calico Critters, so i am trying to hold off- I KNOW they'll go on sale!

I'm loving Kohl's this year! Just used their 30% code again to get DD some Brain Quest cards for her stocking- they're on sale, so $7 shipped.

DS birthday was this week and we had his party today. among other items he received a LeapPad Ultra. His sisters love their LeapPads and would use them all of the time if we would let them. However it seemed to me that the Ultra might have a few bugs with the touch screen and with using the Internet connection. It also seemed a little harder to use ... I'll keep you all updated as we continue to work with it.

I picked up a few gifts for DD yesterday. I found a large, framed dry erase/magnetic board and two magnetic "pen" holders at Target so I picked those up to go on a large wall in her "hang out room" (I've been informed it's not a playroom anymore. She and her friends use her small table top dry erase all the time and I'm ready for that to go). Also picked up some sports bras & these MUDD panties she's suddenly decided she really likes. Both of these were on sale at Kohl's. These will be gifts from mommy & daddy along with new dance clothes (her dance school always has a great sale in December) and any swim and volleyball things she may end up needing.

Her gifts from Santa are going to be a jewelry armoire for her room, a DVD player, the Monster's U movie wrapped up with a movie popcorn bucket & candy, the gift card tree I put together and she's mentioned wanting cowboy boots.

For the rest of the people I need to buy for I have no idea other than I'm looking for some white seaglass earrings for my mom to go with a necklace she bought at the beach this summer.

Question. Anyone remember when Amazon's holiday return policy kicks in. The standard return is w/in 30 days but I recall last year that being extended so that there was about 10 or 15 days after Christmas that you could return items purchased after a certain date. I seem to recall Nov 1 being that date but I'm hoping it's earlier?

Another deal here! Walmart.com has a 7 quart programmable Crock Pot (the actual Crock Pot brand) for $35. I can't find any other prices even close to that! Site to store so free shipping too. I can cross my dad off my list now!

WOW! :worship: I am in awe. What a great present. I will definitely hit kohl's this year as I have been looking for a jewelry box for DD.

Re your parents -- any magazines they like? I just started getting a People subscription for my mom due to the same kind of problem -- hard to shop for! She loves it and so it all works out nicely.

100 days until Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1: I'm so excited!! I ordered my baby's stocking today from L.L Bean!

The leaves are changing, the crispness in the air is almost here and we're halfway through September. I got my PSL from Starbucks and did some fall clothes shopping. Happy times! :)

I received an unexpected gift card for Amazon so I went ahead and bought DD Teen Beach Movie on DVD and Black Beauty Book. For some reason she loves any movie with surfing in it so she loves the Teen Beach Movie. She also takes horse riding lessons and they got a new horse that looks like Black Beauty and her instructor gave her an overview of story so now she wants to read it. I also got one of my nephews a construction book. I am excited to finally have bought a few more gifts. I won't buy much more until Black Friday unless it is one of a kind or a great deal.

I'm in the same boat! Trying to hold off now until Black Friday. Otherwise I know what will happen- I'll finish my shopping now and then buy MORE stuff on Black Friday!

I just bought DD a used DSi on Ebay for $50- Santa brought a DSi last year, but her brother has more or less taken it over, so I want to get one for her (along with some "girly" games like Nintendogs). Then today I went to Michael's with a 50% off coupon and got her a Hello Kitty jewelry box/art set for $10- not bad for half off.

They both just need a couple more things so I NEED to wait until closer to xmas. I also think now that DD is in school, she will be more influenced by what her friends want, so I better wait and see what the "cool" items are with kindergarteners this year!

I'm thinking of getting my 6 year old daughter a nabi, and my 2 year old a nabi jr. Does anyone have any opinions on them?

I also found a "one sentence a day for three years" journal to get my cousin. She's a freshman in college and enjoys poetry apparently. I thought this would be a good, quick journal to use. Think that is ok for an 18 year old? Any suggestions to go with it?

I'm so excited to start buying, but love the rush of a good deal!!

I find black friday to be stressful. It's fun to go out in the afternoon and poke around to see what is left (Target, the mall, etc). I much prefer cyber monday.

I finally figured out what I might get DH for Christmas and that is a new ipod touch. He needs a good device he can use while running (long distances) and the current one barely holds a charge. He also needs clothes but we may just go together and have our neighbor watch the baby while we get our shopping done.

Thinking hard here!

I think that is a great idea for her! Give her a little something to do everyday!!

I think the new ipod is the way to go!! Sounds good!!

Eek! 14 weeks?! Time to kick it up a notch!

Looking for ideas on where to find Schleich animals other than Toys R Us. My ds has been collecting them for years, and we seem to be running out of new ones. I ordered them online from TRUs last year. I went back to check the other day and only found 2 he doesn't already have. It's more of a tradition than a need at this point, but I'd like to keep it going if I can. It has to be Schleich, he's not interested in other brands...

TIA!
Maria :upsidedow
