Okay, I know it is a ways out but just wondering who is planning on being there?

It will be my DS 13th birthday as well....he decided he wanted to be there before he even realized it was the 60th. (He decided he wanted to be an imagineer when he was 4 and has notebooks of ideas for rides, etc. and studies Disney history.)

We had annual passes last year, but couldn't afford to keep it up (we live in Northern California).

Anyway, was wondering if any of my DIS friends would be there as well to celebrate!

I plan to be there!! I sure hope I can make it! I'm only 6 months behind DL so we can both celebrate our 60th, a little early for me but still right there!

Your son sounds amazing! Now that's dedication.

I will be there! I have been there the past 3 years. I love to get the DL birthday merchandise! Plus, just being there knowing the park has been there that long is an incredible feeling!

I have never been on a DL anniversary (As far as I know). Do they do anything special?

I was there for the 50th and plan on it for the 60th! Hopefully I can drag my DH or one or both of my DS along!

We will be there a couple days after :goodvibes.

Edit .........nevermind , we are going in 2014. The 60th anniversary of when construction STARTED at DL !!! lol

We haven't planned to be there, but would like to be there, so we best get on with the planning!

I am guessing that this is why DL is on a heavy refurb schedule coming up ???
At least everything will be in great shape for the summer months .........well except for the subs :headache:

I will probably be there the following month, August 2015 for the next D23. If I was local, I would be there! But to get there from the east coast, only one trip per year to DL.

For those DL veterans, are the big anniversaries typically extremely crowded? We are planning a trip for the summer of 2015 and my DS14 will turn 16 on July 17th. We were sort of thinking that would be fun to go during his birthday. But, if it's going to be a madhouse that week around July 17 we'll go a different week. So, what do you experts think?

I am sure it will be crowded. It was crowded this past July on the anniversary date. Rope drop wasn't too bad. I remember lots of "suits", many people with the Mickey gloves holding the gloves out for high fives. I think lots of people were there for the special pins which are so collectible.

I kind of figured that would be the case. We went to DL this past summer and were originally supposed to go the week around July 17th. My husband coudn't leave his business that week so we pushed our trip to mid August and it was great. I think it would be so fun to celebrate my son's birthday at DL since he shares it with DL, but the crowds bum me out.

Wait a minute .........wasn't the opening of DL in 1955. So how is the 60th anniversary this summer ? Is the anniversary when construction started in 1954 ? I think that was July 16 he actually wasn't it.
Just not understanding why the 60th anniversary isn't in 2015 ???
Guess I am missing something ??? :confused3

Edit ............Nevermind Just saw the original post WAS for 2015 ........guess I jumped the gun, lol.

Well I didn't even think of that...but it is the 60th in 2015! My hubby and I spent our honeymoon at Disneyland and just happened to be there for the 40th anniversary. This gives me incentive to plan a trip so that we spend our 20th there for the 60th, tehehehe....:rolleyes1

We were there for the 50th kickoff in May 2005, and were there on the birthday on July 17th, 2005. We'll be there for the 60th birthday celebration, too. Wouldn't miss it.
