60th DL anniversary - July 17,2015

I think our next trip will be summer of 2016! Unless of course I can't wait that long!

Glad to hear so many of my DIS board friends will be there too!

Any rumors on anything new for the anniversary? What I heard so far are just refurbs of current rides.

Ad, Happy New Year,

I was there on the 40th AND the 50th. The park was much more crowded in 1995. The 2005 crowd was there mostly for the "day of" merchandise, and the ceremony at the castle. Many tourists stayed away. But they were there in droves on the 16th and the 18th.

I'll be there again for the 60th, and plan to be at WDW on the Magic Kingdom's 50th.

An interesting bit of trivia (for those who may not know or remember) is that the popular Believe...In Holiday Magic fireworks did not run for the holiday season of 2005, while RDCT took its place in honor of the 50th anniversary. That was the only time in the 13 or so years that BIHM has been in existence that it didn't play a role in the holidays at DLR.

...Which, of course, has me wondering if Believe...In Holiday Magic will be shelved in 2015, with another fireworks show in its place for the 60th anniversary.:scratchin

One CM I spoke with at length a few months ago said that she doesn't think DLR would try to debut a hard ticket Christmas party until after the 60th anniversary year is over, so I hope that is accurate!

I also wonder if, perhaps, there could be a "Back By Popular Demand" limited engagement of Billy Hill and the Hillbillies in 2015, since they were a fixture at Disneyland for a couple of decades and it would make sense to involve them in birthday/anniversary festivities.

Okay, I know it is a ways out but just wondering who is planning on being there?

It will be my DS 13th birthday as well....he decided he wanted to be there before he even realized it was the 60th. (He decided he wanted to be an imagineer when he was 4 and has notebooks of ideas for rides, etc. and studies Disney history.)

We had annual passes last year, but couldn't afford to keep it up (we live in Northern California).

Anyway, was wondering if any of my DIS friends would be there as well to celebrate!

Our sons would get along really well!! My son does the same things. He wants to build the models for the rides at DL. He likes using clay and molding the character. He reads everything Disney he can get his hands on. He was even Walt Disney for Halloween a few years ago!

That's awesome! I love that - that's how I was all growing up to!!
Btw Mouseymommy, I love the smell of PIrates too! Lol ;-)

Cool! My son was an imagineer a few years ago! :) (I made a t-shirt with the imagineering logo and a sticker with the logo that I put on a hard hat. I also made a disney name badge. How did you do the walt outfit? Sounds fun!

We will be there sometime in July 2015, but we have made firm plans yet . . . We were just talking about whether we want to be there on the 60th or not . . . Can't wait. I haven't been to DL since I graduated from high school, which was quite some time ago :rolleyes1 (and it will be my kiddos first experience with DL) :cool1:

We're planning for May of 2015, hoping they'll still have lots of 60th Anniversary Specials :)
The "Remember Dreams Come True" fireworks for the 50th was ah-mazing. One of the most magical things I've experienced at Disneyland.

Can I start a rumor that the Electrical Parade will make a return?? ;)

I was there for the 50th and I'll be there for the 60th too! That's when Tinkcollector and I met and we've been Disney buddies ever since! We have to go back to celebrate our 10 year Disney friendship anniversary. :cheer2:

Do you think they will do anything like the 50th where they painted one of the ride cars (or horse, etc) gold?

I heard a rumor that they were going to bring back the Electrical parade. Any other rumors? (I was planning on going one time before this....if we do it will be this summer...too many closures during the spring.)

I'll be moved back to L.A. by then (so it will definitely not require plane tix & won't require a hotel stay unless I want to go all-out...) & I wouldn't miss it for anything!!!

I'm eager to conspire whether or not I've been rewarded with the opportunity to experience DLR's 60th Bday. All I know is I LOVE the DLR and would never forget the experience of celebrating the Big D's 60th!!!

I think they should celebrate for the entire year! Our trip is planned for March 7-10 so I guess we will miss all the excitement!

We will be there! We just missed the 59th by one day ....but it's okay as we'd rather be there for the 60th anyway! :)
