hello there! :wave2:

I currently own a canon rebel XS. I've been wanting to upgrade to a new body. However, I'm unsure if I should upgrade to the canon t3i or the 60D. At the moment, they're $100 difference on amazon. After doing some research, I'm leaning towards the 60D but i'm a bit worried for the weight and feel that the t3i might be best?

Also, a silly question. Would you purchase warranty for the body, lens, or both? I bought my rebel xs from a friend, so warranty was never an issue.

& Lastly, i'll be purchasing the tamron 17-55 f.2.8. This decision took a while since I was comparing it with the sigma. I've told myself that in order to learn and feel how an equipment performs, one must try it out first. I would follow my own advice but then that requires not making an account on disboards.

Extra info if it helps: I'm not a beginner, yet i'm still learning how to shoot in manual and discovering my shooting style.

Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you in advance. :ewok:

60D. I went from an XTi to a 7D to a 6D. You want the 60D. The size/weight is nominal for the the technological goodness that is in the 60D.

the Rebel models are smaller and lighter but like you said, try it out first and see if the weight difference matters (six ounces?) The 60D was selling for less than $500 - a good deal if you're getting the lens separately. Also the 60D has a better AF, higher fps and a larger buffer for sports/action shooting.

With only $100 difference I'd definitely go for the 60D. It's got the same amount of AF cross-points (9) but more focus modes. The 60D also as a better body, with more actual buttons for controls.

The Tamron 17-55 2.8 is also great for the money, Tom Bricker has a good review of it on his blog.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I went ahead and purchased the 60D. It arrived yesterday and i'm in awe. The weight is not an issue and the tamron 17-55 f.2.8 ceases to amaze me!

Thank you & happy holidays! :flower3:

Good choice. I shot with the T3i yesterday after having the 60d for quite sometime now I don't think I could go back to the rebel series. For me its a better feel, larger, and enjoy the frames per second and battery life. I wish I didn't get the 18-135 lens with it but stepped up to the lens you already have. I rented the 24-70L lens for a Christmas weekend in Disneyland and was completely blow away by the constant 2.8!

Good choice! I love my 60D. Just buy a good camera strap and weight wont be bad.
