{{HUGS}} and ignore the stares. Those people aren't worth your energy.

Barb,

Being "okay" to me means you came out of surgery in reasonable shape, managed to improve enough to get out of the hosp. and back home with your family. You are strong enough to begin getting your life back as well as you can, one step at a time. I know you don't feel like your old self. All of us who love you know that but we try to keep positive for you. We of all people are here for any venting necessary. Anytime.

Keep up the good work. Please keep posting us on how you are doing and how you are feeling. Most people feel they look worse than other people feel they do and that is natural. Try to believe people who tell you that you are looking "good". If you looked worse they probably wouldn't say anything.

Hugs to you and your family.

Cordia

Pembo,

I also am relatively new to the CB so I'm not sure what kind of surgery you had, but it sounds like you have similar symptoms to what I had after my surgery a few years ago.

I had a brain tumor removed about 3 1/2 years ago. It was sitting on the major nerve that controlls all the movement on the left side of my face. For months afterward I wasn't able to talk very well, eat, or do many other things. I was also VERY self conscious about it. I have to say, that years later, I still don't have feeling in my left ear, and I can't feel the entire left side of my chin from the middle of my face out to my ear. (but I can hear now)

I am very glad I had the surgery though, and am cancer free. I was told that the tumor can come back, so I'm constantly checking, and the recovery process was not fun, but it really DOES get better. I know that the first few months after surgery you will not feel like yourself, but it really honestly does get better. If you need to talk please PM me!

Oh...and I have a pretty large scar running from my ear, down my neck then up the back of my head. I've had people ask what it is from.....I don't mind telling them anymore! I used to not wear my hair up, but now I do. It really does get easier!

And don't worry about stares or what other people think because you have people here who love you very much no matter what. And we want you to be really okay. ;)

 I know it is hard. Just try to remember how far you have come and take it 1 day at a time, sometimes 1 hour at a time.
Things never happen in the time frame we want.

Sending you some more  I hope today is a good day. :sunny:
