I checked out the progress on the 600 loop, including the new lakefront sites this morning, and it looks really close to reopening. They are finishing up the landscaping today, including laying a bunch of sod in the new sites. The baricades are down and you can actually drive through the loop now. Here are some pics:

Finally...not exactly 600 loop related, but thought Frank might like this one...

Dave-

Congratulations, you have earned your TCD Junior Deputy badge!

I am intrigued by this photo:

That is the 800 loop bus stop in the background. Is there a fence around it? Is it being worked on?

Also in this photo, is that a sidewalk on the left? Is there a walkway from the main road to the pedestrian bridge to the campfire area? I know the work isn't done yet, but I'm not sure I like this site that backs right up to the road and the 800 loop entrance.

It looks like there are site markers up at the sites, but I don't see site numbers. Are the sites numbered yet? How many new sites are there?

Was this area wooded before? If so it looks like they defiled every tree around...

Yes, the bus stop is currently fenced off. Not sure why. Also, the bridge from the campfire area is open, and there is indeed a walkway from the bridge that connects to the sidewalk along the main road. We took that home from the campfire last night to our site in the 500 loop, coming into our loop the back way from the 500 CS area.

I did not notice site markers yet, but will check that out during the week as time permits...

Also, I'm sure this has been noted previously, but the 700 loop is currently closed for refurbishment.

Thanks- I can't believe how close that sidewalk is to the grill in the back of this site. How would anyone like to have this site? There is a lot of foot traffic going over the pedestrian bridge. We stay on the 800 loop a lot, and use that bridge all the time, as do folks from the 400, 500 and 700 loops. I would hate to have this site! You would have folks walking right by you all the time, and tons of people coming and going from the campfire. What were they thinking? :(

I thought the same thing! I'm going to have to be on the lookout when riding my bike behind that site!!! It doesn't look as if there's enough space to landscape it for some privacy, either. Geesh!! Poor engineering, if you ask me.

BUT.....thanks for posting the pictures, Dave!! :thumbsup2

On the bright side though, if you are using this walkway in the future you might snag a quick snack off that grill! :thumbsup2

I'd just start selling hot dogs off the grill. Then maybe TE would step it up a little once they found out they had some serious competition. :thumbsup2

I went back last night and checked out the site markings. They have indeed installed the site numbers. There are now a total of 37 sites in the loop. Starting from the south, they are numbered 601 to 637. Since they started numbering at the new entrance near the trading post, the original 600 loop sites have been renumbered.

I also checked out the walkway again...it sure is extremely close to that grill in the new site where the old loop entrance used to be.

Also, I took a closer look at the 800 bus stop. It is still fenced off, and the benches have been removed. No evidence of what they are doing to the bus stop, but presumably it is getting new benches for some reason.

At least theres a sidewalk there, I have ahd a couple of sites that had unofficial walkways through them and it gets old very quick when someone brushes by you as you eat breakfast.
