When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every tenement and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old spiritual, “Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last.”

But sadly, as we all continue to see, even as recently as this past Saturday, for many it is still just a dream. Some day maybe, his dream, so many others' dream, our dream, can be truly fulfilled.

Interesting thing I learned a few weeks ago during a tour in DC. That was not the speech he planned to give that day, he had given that speech a few months before at a small church in the south. One of the women on the dais with him heckled him into giving the "I have a dream" speech, which he did from memory. The King memorial was amazing to see.

I am 62, a child of the 60'S. Even when I was very young, I knew Dr Martin Luther King was a good man!
I have felt sadness lately seeing of the replays of his speech and realizing not enough has changed!
More did change for awhile but we now have "leadership" bent on backing us up as a society more and more. I hope all of us can wake up and do what we can to fix this before we advance back to 1850.

I raised my children to the content of that speech. What a powerful speech and a wonderful man.

I was raised that way too.
Never, and I do mean NEVER was a negative or disparaging word ever said about anyone who was different than us whether, economically, socially, family dynamics or race or religion. My parents simply never said a bad thing about ANYONE!!
