6 yr old's first WDW adventure

So glad you made your ADR for CRT but wish the food would have been better for you ! I am sure your DD loved spending all that time with you and DH and made many fun memories !

Day 2

We get up bright and early for out ADR at Crystal Palace. Dress DD in her Belle costume. We hop on the buses from Pop. After our deal with the traffic we decided that taking the bus is the only way to go. We make it to the park for a leisurely stroll down Mainstreet USA. All CMs say hello to the DD in her princess dress. She is really embarrassed. This turns out to be a telling sign of things to come. DH turns to me and says thanks. I asked for what he replies for getting us in here so we don't have to deal with the crowds. (Yeah for me! He laughed at all the planning I did)

We get to CP. Wait about 5 minutes for our table. In that time 2 DISers say hi. They recognized my lime green Mickey. DH laughed. He was starting to realize how many DISers there are. We talk about what we want to do to day and where we want to go first. We make it in. DD heads right to the donut holes.
img-21.jpg

She was so excited for Krispy Kremes. They closed all their MN stores. :( She created a heaping plate of donut holes. I let it go because it is Disney and we aren't going to eat like this every day. Hahahah :rotfl Pooh, Tigger and Piglet all hit the table.

img-20.jpg

DD is very excited to have her photo taken with them. The CMs continue to address her as princess and she is getting more and more shy as they do it.
We get out of the CP and head to BBB. Yikes that waiting area is small. The girls are all so excited. I hear the prices for the dresses and accessories and thank my luck stars that I have Fairy Godmother who sent my DD a dress. Thanks again Cammie :) DD name get called she hops up into the chair. I am secretly hoping she chooses the Diva with the brown hair because it matches her hair.
img-26.jpg

Nope she picks the Diva with the PINK hair. Yikes. DH reminds me that this is for her not me. What does he know I am living thru on this. Yeah I admit it. I wanted my hair done but I felt too old to have it done. I release control and let her have the pink hair. She sits so still for the Fairy Godmother in Training. Why doesn't she do that at home? Haha
img-28.jpg

I did bring her a hair brush to make the hair styling easier. Wow did the put a lot of gel in her hair. The photopass photog is taking lots of great pictures. The FGMT sprinkle her with pixie dust and turn her around, she is in amazement.
img-30.jpg
She held her hands up to her face, just the like ads. I began to tear up. We leave the castle and head towards Tomorrow Land. We stop at the wishing well. It was very cute to see her by it making a wish.
img-31.jpg

We hit the Indy Race Track and then head to Space Mountain. No sooner did we cross the line to get in, than there was an announcement that the ride broke down. There was only a 10 min wait when we went in. We stood in line for 10 min then another announcement came on and said they would be up and running very shortly. Turn out someone dropped a bad with important medicine in it. DH and I both commented on if you are going to bring meds that you really need you'd better make sure that they are very secure. I tightened my backpack up good and tight. DD was tall enough for the ride but she was a bit frightened since the ride was in the dark. She said next time we come I think I will enjoy it more.

During our wait time I was texting with a fellow DISer. I figured it was a shot in the dark that we would meet up. She was there with her in-laws but guessed it was worth a shot. Turns out that it worked. DD and her DD are close to the same age. They both had been to BBB within a half hour of each other. Got a couple of great pictures. Kara and I got to say hi and get a quick overview of how each other's trip had been so far before we were off and running. Very cool to meet someone in real life that I felt I had gotten to know pretty well. DH was in charge of the cameras. Learned from those photos that I need to help him learn to take more flattering pictures.
img-33.jpg
img-32.jpg

DD is starting to whine at this point. Too much attention. She says she wants to go back to the hotel and swim. This was not part of my plan. I just spend $50 on hair and makeup. Yikes it was all for naught! I was angry but kept my happy face on because she enjoyed it and had a good time. This was her vacation too.

We take the bus back to POP. We talk about DH going fishing. While walking to the bus DH sees bass boats on the lake. I told him if he wants to fish I can arrange that. DD meets a little girl from NY and starts trading pins with her. I talk to the mom who has a stroller. I asked her how the DD fit in it. Her DD was the same size as mine. We decided not to bring a stroller because we felt DD was old enough and could handle the walking. She said it came in handy sometime and she was leaving that day and did I want it. I said yes and gave her $20 for it. It was one of the strollers you could buy in the park. I was happy DH was not . He said we agreed no stroller, how are we going to get it home. I explained that we can gate check it. He was okay with that.

We hit the POP cafeteria. That place is nuts. We had a hard time getting our bearings. We pick out our lunch. DD really wants a hot dog. This isn't part of the meal plan. That baffles me. Chicken nuggets and hamburgers are but not hot dogs. Oh well we pay cash for it. We had to go back to the desert section and drink section twice because we were unsure what was covered by the meal plan. I really wish that that kind of stuff was more clearly marked. Head back to the room to eat and take it easy. We hit the pool. It was a bit cool but refreshing. We played around for the remainder of the afternoon. I got DH ressies for a fishing outing on Thursday afternoon. Which is perfect because we will be at AK that day. I figured we'd only spend half day there and then hit the pool.

We get cleaned up and head over to MK and Ohana. We took the stroller with us. That was a big mistake. That thing caused trouble. DD started to whine as soon as we got off of the bus. She totally reverted to a baby. I mean with crying and temper tantrums. I can't imagine it. She had just taken a nap. I should have listened to DH and not brought it with. We trek on to Mickey's Toon Town. We ride the barnstormer. I wanted to do the character meet and greets but DD flat out refused. I shrug it off. We take the train around the park and then we take the watershuttle to the Poly. DD announces she wants to stay at GF next time. So do I. DH also agrees. Hmmm better start saving. I was thinking that Lilo and Stitch would be at Ohana. That apparently is for the breakfast only. Well we figured it still smelled really good. DH really liked all the meat. I was a bit overwhelmed and DD didn't touch her mac and cheese. The Hawaiian entertainment was good. I got a great DH and DD picture. DD like it. Don't think we would go back there. Just too much meat. I wanted a bit more choice of side dishes.
img-34.jpg

We head back to POP for the night. It is late but still earlier than yesterday. I walk out of our room around 9 pm, I could see Wishes from our room. I was so excited. That made my night. I needed it after the stroller day.

DAY 3

We are planning on hitting Epcot today. I have to wake up DH and DD. They are not happy. To cheer them up I head to the POP Cafeteria to grab them a pop tart and juice. That went a long way in making them happier. Off to the buses for Epcot. We brought the stroller. I wish I had learned from the day before. DD is being an angel so I didn't think anything of it. We get to Epcot. They are only allowing those that have ADRs into the park. Score for me.

img-38.jpg

Glad we had ressies for Askerhaus. It was so fun walking thru the park with on one in it. We saw the segway tours. DH loved that that is how the CM get around. We make it to Askerhaus. Very little wait. We get in line for pictures with Belle. DD announces that she only wants daddy in the photo. Kind of crushed but let her have her way. Get to our table. It is right next to the door where the princesses come out of. We get our food. Very normal American fare. I was kind of hoping for more Norway food. We are about to meet the princesses and we see Mary Poppins outside. I grab DD and run out and get our photo done with her. The CMs thought I was nuts I kind of was. But we got our picture done. We run back inside to meet Aurora, Jasmine, Mary Poppins and Mulan. Very nice. DD loved meeting them. Score for mom again. It saved us a lot of time in the photopass lines.

img-44.jpg

We head over to the Land Pavilion. We hit Soarin. Maybe a 15 min wait. That was very cool. I almost got motion sick but looked at set of people next to us and that helped. DD loved it. She loved the fact that you could smell the ocean and the pine trees. We get out and the line is now 1 hr wait. We skip all of the other attractions in Land. DH wants to ride Nemo. I get dizzy walking through the lines. There weren't any but the queue area had us moving a back and forth. It was an okay ride. We spend lots of time in the aquarium. DD loved the manatees. We get in line for Turtle Talk with Crush. DD didn't get to sit on the floor. She was pushed out of the way. She was so tired. She tried to burry her head in my shirt more than once. She was hungry and tired. I should have seen those signs.

More on Epcot later.....

Another great update. Its too bad that she didn't like the Princess attention. My DD got such a kick out of being called princess, in fact it seems like they call all the little girls that, dressed up or not.

Can't wait to read more

-Becca-

Love the update!! Nice to know about BBB - my girls just wouldn't go for it - "waaaaayyyy toooooo girlie mummy" is what I got from them - and why not! they are girls!!! Love all the pics..... can't wait for more..

Tessa

WOW! That DISer you met sounds waaaaay cool! :rotfl2:

The pics are great - I know what you mean about the stroller. We did NOT bring one for DD but my inlaws got one for my nephew and just seeing him in it made DD much whinier than she was on our last trip 2 years ago with no stroller. Go figure! :confused3 Also, DD was much more embarassed by the attention this time, too, after BBB. And if it makes you feel any better, her hair was falling out probably about the time you were hopping in the pool! Splash Mtn, BTMRR, and Test Track will do that!!! :lmao:

Love the report - keep it comin!

Great installment Laura! DD looked beautiful - glad the dress worked out! And, I believe they do have a BBB for mommies - it's called the Grand Floridian Spa! Check it out when you stay there!

Finally getting back to this TR. Where did the time go...

So we left off with at the Living Seas. We had ressies for lunch at 1:30 we had some time to kill. We headed over towards mission to Mars and had the worst melt down ever. I wanted to leave the stinking stroller right there and give my DD to a CM because we were thru. DH and I counted to 10 and found a small spot near innoventions to have direct talk to DD. Basically it went down you will behave and you will not ride in this stroller again. She cried and cried. I thought everyone was looking at me like I was the worst person ever but I realized I was doing this in a spot that hopefully wasn't invading anyone else's vacation. We were there for a bit. DD got herself together and promised to be good. We carried on to

img-53.jpg

It was a bit cold in there. We opted for the orange path. Kind of scared of the warnings on the green path.
img-50.jpgl

DD didn't care for the ride. It was all a bit over her head. DH and I thought it was okay. Next we headed to test track. Very enjoyable. We all screamed it was a lot of fun. I really liked that they added your picture to your photo pass. I wish more rides did that.
image052.jpg
[/IMG]
After we finished we headed over for lunch. This time the stroller was being carried. It worked much better. We had ressies for Living Seas. I had remembered reading in one of the books to ask for a tank side table, which I highly recommend doing. We got seated right near the tank. DD loved it. We saw the divers go in to feed the fish.
img-55.jpg

Lunch was really long. The server was over worked. It worked out okay for us because DD really needed the rest. We ordered the specialty drinks. That really cheered DD up.
img-54.jpg

We were there for an hour and a half. We by-passed all the other attractions in the front of Epcot and headed toward the countrys. Yummy drink in France

After having that nice long rest in the cool restaurant. Life was better. DD was a whole new person. I strongly recommend a sit down lunch or a break in the middle of the day. These little ones just can't handle going all day.

We hit the international area. It is hot. DD and DH aren't really interested in poking around in the various country exhibits. We fly thru Canada, Moraco, England and France. I was able to grab a Grand Marnier Slushy. Yummy! We take time in Italy for DD to make more charms for her Kitcot pass. She really liked that. it was a great break in between walking. We caught a little of the show in Italy. The comics were dressed as street performers and they did a funny version of Romeo and Juliet. Very cute. We headed to Japan. The drums were starting. They were loud and very cool. DH was on the hunt for Sushi, granted we had eaten less than an hour prior. He has a hallow leg I swear. We looked into eating there but it was a full sit down meal for the sushi he wanted. I reminded him he had dinner coming up at Germany. So we carried on. We did get some great ideas for our koi pond at home though.

img-56.jpg

We had more time to kill so we bounced past Germany. We went back to Norway. Rode Malestrom. Hard to imagine that this would be a fast pass ride. Very nice and cool ride. We skipped the movie at the end. DD was getting hungry. We had a little snack. Yes we traveled all the way to FL to get Lefse. I know we're crazy but it reminded us of Christmas.

img-58.jpg

BTW I loved having an ID bracelet on her. I bought it on line for $10. It will fit her for a long time. I had all of our contact info inscribed on it.

Anyway, we continued on to Mexico. I loved the 3 Amigos ride. DD didn't know the movie but she enjoyed it. The food smelled great. We ran in to Donald Duck outside of Mexico. I had to get my picture taken with him. DD didn't want to at all. She was still really tired and had mood swings. So we left her next to our bags as we got our pictures done. She jumped in once she saw DH come up next to me. She did the same thing when we met the Genie. I was mad but I really tried to let it go.
image095.jpg
[/IMG]

We went back to Germany. Keep in mind we were dragging the darn stroller the whole time. She really didn't ask to ride too much. We ate at the Biergarten on our honeymoon so we really had high expectations. We got seated right away. DD saw the band and wanted to dance. So we each took turns with her. We were seated with a family from Canada. Very nice people. Had a great time talking with them. Their DD danced with my DD. They danced more than they ate. The food was good as was the service. DH finished hit boot of bier so he was much more relaxed.

We decided to leave Epcot at this point. It was right around 8 pm. We figured we needed an early night. We had too many to keep going. We rode the bus back to POP. I hated how far away the POP pick-up was from every park entrance. It seemed like we were always the very last one. Very peaceful ride back. Got DD to sleep and I went out on the balcony at POP and watched the fireworks from DHS and a bit of Epcot's. That was cool. It helped me unwind before heading to bed. Something about fireworks capping off a great day.

Next post Dream Fast Passes.....

We get up the next morning for our adventure in AK. Everyone is dragging. We are hitting the point of no return. Total exhaustion. Still we get everyone out the door on time for our 8:40 am ADR at Tusker House. I thought we were good to go when DH stops at the bus stop and realizes he left his wallet at the room. Yikes there goes the bus. Guess we are stuck until he gets back. Over 30 min later the next AK bus pulls up. That is my biggest disappointment about POP, the buses don't run as often as I would like. I did know that going in however.

We finally get to AK. Again we are the furthest drop point from the gate. We left the ****stroller at the room. We ran to the gate. They were still letting people in with ADRs. We flew thru the park to get to Tusker House. We only stopped to get a few shots of the empty park. I was bummed but at least we were in before the masses.

img-64.jpg

img-65.jpg

We had over a 30 min wait for our ADRs. We realized we were at the rope drop spot for the safari. Bonus! We could get fass passes it the rope dropped in enough time. It wa a gamble. While waiting aCM dressed as a tribeman set up his drums. It was very nice to talk to him and hear how he ended up in WDW. DD was scared of him. I guess his costume may have had something to do with that.

img-66.jpg

We saw the masses coming up with the CM's and the rope. That was cool. I wish I had taken a picture of that. We ran to Safari and got our fast passes then our buzzer went off for breakfast. Great timing

:surfweb: Yea, Laura! :thumbsup2 I've forgotten - was this your first family trip to WDW? I love your report! Good for you for working on it. I would never have the discipline. Your DD is adorable! I wish that my girls still liked to dress up! We did on our first and second trip, but none after that. I can still get them to wear the matching Disney shirts though! Even my way cool 15 year old!!:rotfl2:

I have to ask - what is Lefse?

Pam2

Lefse is like a tortilla, except it is made out of potatos. We eat them with sugar and cinamon.

We finsihed our breakfast at Tusker house. We got to see all the characters. I love the meals it makes seeing them so much easier. I do wish that the professional pictures you have taken are included in your meal price or are at least on your photo pass. Oh well.

img-67.jpg

We get out of Tusker house and headed to the safari. The fast passes were perfectly timed. Loved the ride. It was great to see all of the animals.

img-70.jpg

We left the safari watching the time. DH was set to go fishing this day. He figured he'd better allow over an hour to make all of the transfers to get to DTD in time. We decided to take the train to Rafki's planet watch. That was nice but the best part of all was as we were walking in we were granted  DREAM FAST PASSES:banana: This just made the day a whole lot easier. We met a bunch of characters.

img-72.jpg

img-73.jpg

Once we had those passes we knew we were headed to EE.DH figured that this would be his last ride as he needed to take off for fishing. We hustled over there. DD saw that and was I so have to ride that. I was a bit concerned that she would be too small but she made the height requirment. That was a great ride I would have rode again but the non fast pass line was over an hour.

We said good bye to DH. DD wanted to go back to MK to ride BTMRR. I told her there were a few more things I wanted to see. We hit A Bugs Life. DD did not like this. The 3D was pretty cool but the smells did us in. I can still smell some of those things. Yuck! This has brought nightmares still.

It was getting hot. We ran to Dinosaur. I had to beg DD to ride it. That was a mistake. She was terrified. Oops. Not the best choice. I thought it wasn't that scary. Oh well.

Next time.. more dreams come true and BTMRR.

Great job Laura! We didn't even make it into Dinoland this trip - cause of the inlaws.... :rolleyes1 Enough said.

But it looks to me like you enjoyed your little drinkie poo as much as DD in Coral Reef!!!

And by the way, if you purchase the pics from the character meals, they include them on your photopass. But at Akershus, where the pic is now included, they give you the photopass number on the receipt, when the bring the pics to the table. Then you have to go into your photopass account and add that number.

Lefse is like a tortilla, except it is made out of potatos. We eat them with sugar and cinamon.

YUM! I have really been into pita chips lately. I dip them in hummus. Trying to stay healthy. The cinnamon sugar ones I eat for breakfast, maybe not so healthy!:rolleyes1 But they are yummy!:)

We finsihed our breakfast at Tusker house. We got to see all the characters. I love the meals it makes seeing them so much easier. I do wish that the professional pictures you have taken are included in your meal price or are at least on your photo pass. Oh well.

But your snapshots are great! OMG! Dream Fastpasses?! That is wonderful! I never saw anyone get chosen by the Dream Team when we were there! How lucky for you!

Laura - I can't believe your DD went on Mission:Space! I won't go NEAR that ride!:scared:

Lunch was really long. The server was over worked. It worked out okay for us because DD really needed the rest. We ordered the specialty drinks. That really cheered DD up.
img-54.jpg

Looks like it also cheered "Mommy" up too!:)

Ok, that picture of the frog over your shoulder is just disgusting! I guess this is why I'm not a huge fan of AK - I don't really like animals!

We never do "It's Tough To Be a Bug" anymore. I traumatized Lauren with this attraction about seven years ago and to this day, she refuses to give it another try!

:thumbsup2 about the Dream FastPasses!

Hi Laura - somehow I missed your updates.

Gotta love that Lefse! We always had it for Christmas, too.
So exciting you go the Dream FP! It makes your whole day magical! You even look happier in the pics after you have the FP :goodvibes How did your DH like the fishing? Mine is asking about that one - maybe he can fish while I get a massage or something.

Thanks for continuing to write - I can't wait for more! :surfweb:

Subbing and looking forward to the rest of your trip!

I've really enjoyed your photos so far! Looks like such a wonderful trip.
