6 Year Old Trapped in a Balloon. Boy Found Alive - Hiding at Home!

I don't think it was a publicity stunt, but I do think the parenting style of this family explains a lot as to why this happened. I hope they learn something from this and that there are consequences.

I am so glad that my intuition was wrong and he's OK. Publicity stunt?... No way. What's there to publicize?

The family's apparently attention seekers and thrill junkies, so it could have been a hoax.

The whole idea seemed too fantastic to be true - homemade balloon, a box with a basket and a six-year old carried for miles? Sounded phony from the get-go.

I gotta believe the kid was hiding, not asleep. Think about cops stomping through the house, doing a room-to-room search, and yelling his name. No way he slept through two searches.

If it was a hoax, I wonder whose idea it was and if the kids are in danger?
If a phony flyaway was unsuccessful, what's to say that won't move the stakes up and put the kid into a real dangerous situation next time?

When they were showing the live news conference itreally bothered me that the kid was chewing on a glow stick and he didn't look embarassed or sorry or anything I would expect to see. I also noticed that the family had to be prompted to thank for the emergency and police help.
We have had a lot of helicopters flying around this afternoon, just glad he ended up safe.

He's 6 :confused3

I would think they are still not thinking straight after what they have been thru.

:scared1:Uhhh, I leave to go to kids sports practices and come back to the kid was found in the attic?! Thank god...poor kid, scared he was gonna get in trouble. Didn't they search the whole house?:confused3

Can you imagine having all that footage recorded and telling your kids, hey all that was about me:eek: Wow is my only word. The whole thing kinda feels surreal.

I watched this play out on TV too.

My heart sank when the ballon flew over the power line and it looked like it was gona hit it of course it did not but my aleation was short lived when the dang ballon turned around and went over thim again,

I cant imagine the parents having to watch all that. I'm hoping the brother had told thim it was a box under it so they new he was not in the ballon.

-------------------------

Ummmm... I think I'm speechless..

The first time I head that "word" I turned it off. The father is acting offended and p/o'd that people are suggesting it was a stunt. The way they live their lives, what else would you think?:confused3 I am so thankful the boy is ok.

They are on Larry King now. Very strange. Sounds like they are making it up as they go along.

Watching them on CNN, I am fairly convinced that we have been had.
The boy and his Dad talk to each other as if they are puppets.
The house was searched more thn once, the boy was looked for and know one found him ?

Watching the interview the husband and wife look over to make sure they are giving correct answers.

This almost makes me as sick as thinking the worst. I guess it's better to have them lie and the kid is OK, than the other way around.

If they are lying, I'm sure the police will figure it out. And I hope they make them pay dearly.

This whole story sounds very fishy to me, and this family (on Larry King now) are very bizarre. And I'm putting that mildly. Just weird.

Larry King tonight, USA Today tomorrow (hypotheticlly), and the whole talk show circuit.
Imagine the money to be made.

I really don't believe the Dad, he seemed very nervous. I missed it, but Wolf Blitzer asked him why the boy said "it was for the show". Then the Dad acted appalled at the suggestion but totally unconvincing.

Ummm..watching Larry King now - watching "mom" trying to keep a straight face - "dad" rather agitated.. I don't know.. I didn't see the whole show - just this last part - but watching that video that is linked here, something seems "off"..:confused3

Maybe the video is messing with my thinking.. What kind of parenting is that?
Is this what people refer to as allowing their children to "express themselves"?? :confused3

I dunno. I have heard some off color things come out of my boys' mouths-which they are immediately reprimanded for-but if that "P" word ever came out, they would be having a Dawn detergent cocktail. I don't care how it's conjugated, it's still the "P" word!! Vile.

The video doesn't look like something boys this age could produce on their own -- nor do the concepts presented in the video appear to be things that boys that age would dream up on their own. No, it appears that they starred in the music video, but it was adult-produced. (Maybe kind of like the balloon ride?)

If this is the way the parents want their boys to behave, I'm glad my girls live on the other side of the country.
