6 people in a hotel room? HELP

okay here's my question . . . we are a family of 6-2 adults and 4 kiddos and rarely can we find rooms big enough. I would like to stay at the Disneyland Hotel or The Paradise Pier. We have stayed at the DLH befor in a suite( big bucks) and this time i want a regular room. If i book a room with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed will they say anything when we check in. I am not opposed to hiding kids in luggage !I know it will be a tight fit, but we will only be there for three nights and this is part of a huge driving vacation- so i want to save a few bucks.( San Antonio-Amarillo-Albuquerque-Vegas-LA-Anaheim-San Diego-Tucson and Back Home!)

Any ideas?
Why am i being penalized for have kids? Don't they want families?

I have not stayed there yet but will in May. I was able to book Cortina Inn and Suites (Its two rooms, 1 with king bed and TV and own air conditioner, then other room is pull out couch and a bunk bed and own tv and air conditioner) It was $116.00 a night. we will stay 3 nights also. Its far cheaper than two seperate rooms (In our case we have four adults and 2 kids going)

Also I think if you go to Park Place Inn they have rooms with two queens and a pull out couch. Park Place is far closer but they only had King with a pull out avaliable on our dates so we would have had to get two rooms at about $120 per room.


About a year ago I went with some friends and we stayed at the other Best Western near Park place on Harbor and we had a two room suite with two double beds and the other room was either a king or queen I cant remember. I would check on some of those Harbor hotels for a room for 6.

It is the fire code that says DLH can only have 5 to a room but....we know many people who have had one extra kid and stayed there. We only have 2 kids but always request the room with the 2 queen beds and sofa sleeper and then when we get to the room. we call down for a rollaway because my kids do not want to share beds. That would provide you each with sleeping space. If you have a baby, most rooms already have a pack and play. Almost all the rooms that have 2 Qs and the sofa sleeper are large enough to safely exit in a fire but there are some tiny rooms that you could not fit all of the people or even a rollaway so I guess that is what sets the fire code rules, not sure about that? I think it depends on the ages of your kids too because if you have tiny ones, easy to fit but if they are all giant teenagers, forget it, you will not be comfortable.

When you pull up to check in you can unload the luggage with the bellman and some kids can go check in with one adult while the other adult parks the car with some kids and then all meet at the somewhere to go to the room (since the car parker won't know the room number!)

I confess, since we only have the 2 kids, we are terrified that we will get a room with just 2 beds and all have to double up sleeping so we "fib" and say we have an extra kid just to get the sofabed room. I go check in with the 2 kids and Dh parks the car taking the "imaginary" child with him. We are not really "cheating" DLH since you pay for the room, not per person, but I thought you would get a chuckle that people sometimes pretend to have more kids!

We stayed at the DLH in a room with the two beds and day bed and we had 3 adults and three kids. It was no trouble at all as far as space goes. The rooms are very nice size and the bathroom is huge. I would never do that at the GCH though, the rooms and bathroom are much smaller and they only have a day bed with the standard view room!

Try the Marriott Towneplace suites in Anaheim...were have a family of 6 (4 of them kids) and stayed there for 6 days just 2 weeks ago. It's not within walking distance from Disneyland but there is a FREE direct shuttle which runs every 1/2 hour until closing. We got a 2 seperate bedroom apartment style suite with full kitchen (with dishes and utensils) and living area with sofabed for around $116 a night. It is a nice, well kept facility. Each room and the living room has its own TV! There is a heated pool and jacuzzi. Plus right next to Starbucks, Denny's and a couple other eateries.

Since it is a firecode thing, I don't think they are against kids/families but merely abiding by a law they didn't set. You would have to book the room as having only five and then figure out how to go about getting the sixth in there. One question I do have, is one of your kids under 3? Because I know at the WDW Deluxe hotels, you can have six in one room as long as one of them is under three. The DLH may have the same policy. So I would check on that if that even applies to you. If this either doesn't apply or they don't allow it anyway, the rooms are pretty good size at the DLH and rollaways are free so you could make it work as others have. However it is against the rules and I would worry that if you get caught you could be asked to leave or book a suite. Also, you would not be able to do Early Entry, one of the biggest perks of staying oniste. Your room slip, which you will have to present will list five people but you will be trying to get in six people. There are several posters here on the dis who have four kids (Hydroguy comes to mind) and they stay at places like the Best Western Park Place Inn. They have mini suites there that sleep six people. I have one booked in June and its $143 a night with a AAA rate. And that includes a free breakfast. There are several other places that have suite set ups which will sleep six people. And also for cheaper than one regular room at an onsite hotel will cost you. So you will be able to save money, not have the worry of breaking rules and that sounds like a better idea to me! The best thing about Disneyland is the huge selection of nearby, inexpensive offsite motels. Many of which are closer than the onsite ones.

I would book with one of them because it would make me too stressed worrying about if I got caught or not!

Once again,you might try the Camelot Inn. They have a 2 rm suite (we were on the 4th floor),3 queen beds 'and' a sofa sleeper. The only draw-back is only 1 bathroom.

The Residence Inn's have ample space for 6 in the penthouse suites. The fire codes and the hotels insurance carriers put those laws in place for a reason. If you were caught, you are out the room and god forbid there really was a fire or the like. Your insurance will deny you any claims and so will the hotels.

My younger brother was booted from a hotel for just that reason and had to stay about 6 miles away because he wanted to push the system. Did not make for a pleasent trip...he blamed everyone but himself.

We are a family of six 2 adults and 4 children , and after much searching found the desert inn and suites the best value. $727.95 for a seven night stay in late november

We're also staying at the Desert Inn and Suites, walking distance to the parks, with 4 queen beds and 2 bathrooms. We'll have 4 adults, one child and my mom is coming over to stay for a night so we'll have plenty of room. We got a good price but also like Carousel Inn and Suites last time we were out.

We've stayed at two places that are right across the street, after hiking myself all the way through DtD to the PP hotel for breakfast, they are actually closer to the entrance to the parks than DLH. We liked both of them. We just got back from Spring Break at Desert Inn & Suites. We stayed in a suite with 2Q and pull out sofa bed. The sofa bed is small, though. FYI. Our two boys (ages 10 & 12, though big for their ages) couldn't sleep on it together. Our one boy slept on it and the other boy slept on the other Q w/DD. Nothing to write home about, but liked where it was, and enjoyed watching the fireworks from the roof! They have a continental breakfast, fridge and micro. $139 high season (Spring Break/week before Easter). They have an indoor pool and jacuzzi, which is nice if the weather is cooler or bad.
The other one we stayed at, I personally prefer. It's the Anaheim Plaza hotel. Really Large rooms, nice bathrooms, fridge and micro. Still right across the street. The family suite typically runs in the $150 range when we're looking for them. It's actually two rooms with doors that open through both. We really liked all the room. We REALLY liked the two bathrooms! The pool was large and not terribly cold. They had kids eat free at the breakfast buffet and I believe also at dinner. When we were there, we were on fast track mode, so we ate in the room as we were getting ready and the rest of the meals were in the park. But, there is a restaurant and bar there, and a very small gameroom and rather nice gift shop.
