6 parks in a day--can we do it?

We're toying with the idea of trying to visit all 6 WDW and DL parks in one day this summer. Assuming there are no issues with the flight from Orlando to LA, I know we won't have any trouble doing all 4 WDW parks and DL, but I'm not sure about CA because it will probably be closing at 9:00 that day.

Here's my question: if our flight lands at LAX at 7:00, can we make it to the DL resort and into CA before 9:00, and how?

Option 1 is to take a private van or town car from the airport to a nearby hotel to drop off our luggage, then racing to California Adventure before it closes. Option 2 is to rent a car at the airport and go directly to the park, but I suspect the car rental process and parking lot tram would take longer than Option 1 (especially once you factor in time for us to get lost along the way, lol).

Any other ideas or suggestions? TIA!

I don't know to me it sounds horrible. All the running around and flying, just my opinion good luck though.

People have done it before.

From LAX you can take Super Shuttle or Disneyland Resort Express plus other shuttle options.

DRE goes to the DLH first, Super Shuttle can vary when you share it but both will get you on your way likely quicker than a rental.

DCA is likely to have longer hours this Summer so it shouldn't be a problem.

since California closes first do California Adventure then do DL, they are right across from one another

I agree. Plus I seriously doubt it'll close at 9. In June 2010 when we were there it closed at 11pm right after WOC opened. It'll be open to at least 10pm and most likely 11 pm.

If you chose the perfect day (in terms of park hours) and had no traffic problems at all, you might be able to do it.

But would it be pleasant? I have doubts about that.

Start as early as possible at WDW, do maybe one ride per park and drive to the next (oh definitely DRIVE), etc. Drive to the airport, try to do carryon only, maybe have a car service pick you up? If you must check in, run in and leave bags with the front desk, dash to DCA, do one ride, dash to DL.

A much more pleasant sounding thing would be to pick a ride or two that is in both WDW and DLR, and do them on one day. So...Pirates and Splash. Small World and Haunted Mansion. That sort of thing. That way you stand a much stronger chance of completing the mission and you won't want to cry from exhaustion.

I wish I had some relevant input for you, I just wanted to say I think your challenge sounds awesome and good luck! Are you just going for one day or will you spend a few days in WDW and on your departure day do the 4 parks plus the 2 when you get to DL/DCA, and then add a day or two here in California to enjoy the parks? Either way, sounds rad :) If you do trip reports, I'd like to read about the 6 park challenge and how it goes!

Good luck to you on this unique adventure! You certainly have to come back and do a trip report with photos. Seems very doable in the summer when park hours are longer and flight delays due to weather should be fewer.

We are looking at doing something similar to this also this summer. But we are just thinking of picking a couple of rides in WDW to do then fly out to DL and do the same couple of rides in the same day. We are torn about either trying this or just riding everything they have in WDW that they have in DL on monday and then fly out to DL on tuesday and doing those same rides on that day. We would also take our pictures going on the rides in WDW on monday and then take our pictures on tuesday going on the same rides in DL.

I wish you luck on your adventure! Let us know if it works.

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone! I knew it would probably sound crazy to most people, but thankfully the DIS is populated with lots of people who have similar crazy ideas. ;) And yes, this is part of a longer trip, so we'll have several days before and after the challenge to enjoy both resorts.

This is what I was hoping! I could only find last year's hours, and on weekdays CA closing was at 9, which is cutting it a little close, IMO. With Carsland opening, I'm just crossing my fingers that CA will be open later. If only DL released their park hours 6 months in advance like WDW does, lol.

skiingfast--we usually do take DRE, but aren't usually pressed for time, and have had some long waits for that bus. But it sounds like any shuttle service will likely be faster than renting a car at LAX, so I think that's the way we'll go.

High five! Though I love the idea of riding something in each park, or riding the attractions that have counterparts on each coast (like the leap day couple tried to do), I fear that would just be too much walking. I like your idea of doing it over two days--that sounds more managable. You make sure to report back on your adventure, too!

For us, we really like the idea of all six parks in one day, so I think we'll stick to just trying to take a picture with the "weenie" in each park. If we manage to also fit in any rides, that will just be a bonus. And I will try to remember to get pictures at each duplicate ride for our "coast to coast trip" memory book.

For those who are interested, a woman who successfully completed this challenge last summer posted a youtube video of her day. Just look for "six disney parks in one day 8/17/11."

Last July CA was open 10-10, so I guess it may depend on which part of summer.
Yes, I've had excrutiation waits renting a car at LAX. So, a shuttle would likely be the best bet unless you wanted to spring for a taxi.
Have fun!

I'll just have to wait and see on the park hours, I suppose.

I'm sorry to hear you've had long waits renting cars at LAX, but I'm glad to be able to take that off the table. Just my luck we'd be so tired that we'd get hopelessly lost and just miss getting into CA. But I hadn't thought about a taxi--I assumed that would be more expensive than a private shuttle/limo. Maybe I'll have to think about that option--then I don't have to worry about the shuttle/limo being late. Hmm....

Wow, just watched that video and that is crazy! I would be completely exhausted by the end of that day. It looks like as long as the flight was on time that its doable, though. Good luck!

Why do people do many of the things they do for "fun"? Why run a marathon when you can take a car? :lmao:

I think it sounds like a fun adventure. I'd like to see a detailed timeline of how someone accomplishes it because the limited amount of direct flights midday seems to be a real challenge.

A "Fun Adventure"??:confused3
We could could do Arizona,Sonoran Desert Museum,Old Tucson Studio,Pima Air Museum and the Titan Missile Museum all in one day and never leave Pima county.
I'm with ashnjam on this one.
To me it doesn't sound like "fun". :sad2:

To me it would not be fun, it would be a waste of $ and time.
