I am sooo excited. I was just successful on priceline for 2/21-2/24 and got the DOLPHIN for $72/night. Total with taxes and fees $245.77. Add that to 3 nights renting points for BWV for 2/18-2/21 for $330 and we've got 6 nights on the Boardwalk for a total of $575.77. I just had to share the news!

Haven't seen the Dolphin on Priceline for a long time. Great job!

Great deal! Congratulations!

Wow,

That is a stunning deal!

Budget post of the day!

What a great deal! Congratulations! :)

Congrats on staying at the Dolphin. It is a great hotel. My dh said if we could get that price, we should book it also:)

Question about Priceline????

When you put in the amount you want to spend per night, say $100.00 & they (Priceline) comes back and accepts that offer do you get to pick the hotel, or do they pick it for you? What if you don't want to stay at that hotel & they already run your credit card?

Thanks!

You do not get to pick your hotel...Priceline picks it for you (you pick the category of hotel and bid, such as four-star, three-star, etc.). Also, you have to provide a credit card number prior to starting the search process, and Priceline will automatically charge that credit card once they accept your bid. Also, it's non-refundable.

dahess, www.biddingfortravel.com website is a wealth of information about priceline and bidding. To answer your question, NO you don't get to pick the hotel I was bidding knowing perfectly well that I might end up with one of 6 hotels or possibly an iunknown one. What you can do is specifiy a geographic area. Therefore, I knew I would end up with something within probably 5 mintues of WDW grounds. I bid for a resort level hotel so I knew I'd get something nice either way. It was just luck of the draw to get the dolphin. I should add that I've been bidding for 4 weeks (you can rebid every three days) and was holding out until closer to my travel dates to raise my bids. If I were to guess, the Dolphin probably had a big block of rooms set aside for a group and they just got released.

Congratulations! We'll be there at the Dolphin 2/16-2/24 on the teacher rate. I thought THAT was a great rate for Presidents' week. Do you think we can hope that the parks won't be too crowded since there seem to be empty hotel rooms?

This Massachusetts resident can't wait for sunny, warm Florida!
Have a safe trip, maybe we'll see you at the World...:p

Oh my Gosh, Rosemont, I saw your winning bid on Sheryl's site this morning and I needed a Hotel for 2/20 & 2/21. So I bid the exact amount of your winning bid and got the Dolphin for $72 also. I am so excited. I also posted on that site regarding my winning bid. Thank you for posting your bid and inspiring me to try for the Dolphin. :D

Wow, that is awesome! (for both of you- what a great rate for Dolphin!)

However, I know I could never bring myself to do that priceline thing. I just know I could never bring myself to bid without knowing what hotel and knowing that if they accept my bid I'd be charged even if I didn't like the hotel they chose for me at that bid. :( Too risky for me. And knowing my luck, it would NOT be the Dolphin when *I* bid. LOL

Stringercapecod, what teacher rate did you get? I had a reservation at the swan for a government rate of $154(this I had booked in Dec) Today I checked the dolphin site and the government rate was $129. I know these teacher/government rates sometime float on availability.

Way to go!!! That's a great deal!!! We've stayed at the Dolphin on our last two trips and could not have been happier there! It is FABULOUS!!!! Have a great time!

Way to go, Rpsemont!

We also stay at the Dolphin, using the Govt. Rate of $129/night. With the 11.5% FL tax, and the $10 Resort Fee, the nightly total comes out to be $154. I heard that waiving the Resort Fee is no longer an option, and will be applied regardless.

We stayed at The Swan last year for the $129 Nurse's Rate, but this $72 rate we got is awesome!
This is the first time The Dolphin has come up on Priceline in over a year (I think).
