Hello Everyone:goodvibes

I just returned from a 6 night, 5.5 day trip to Walt Disney World on Tuesday!

It was a really fun trip, I can't say it was the best trip ever, but it was really fun and a great get-a-way because the day before I left was my last day at my old job and on Monday I start a new job at Pepsi as a Category Analyst!

We stayed at Art of Animation and arrived Halloween and left November 6th!

The cast of this trip is me (Rachel), a 27 year old Ohio State Grad living in Minnesota and working in the CPG industry. I live with my boyfriend of 10 years (Corey, 27) and he also came along. The third person in this is my best friend Emily, she is 26 and has never really been to WDW before. She went to MK for one day in high school but didn't do much! She had to experience the full Walt Disney World Experience. We all went to OSU and Emily still lives in Toledo as a manager at Kroger.

We were on the Regular Dining Plan, which I have been using every year since 2008! I might have to pass on using it the next trip because it isn't that great of a deal anymore.

Here is a collage of me and Emily. We have known each other since Kindergarten and lived together all through college.

Here is Corey and I! He even loves Disney, maybe not as much as I do, but he still loves it. I am a lucky girl!

We started off our culinary adventure with the wonderful Chik- Fil-A!:thumbsup2

Haha, we don't have these around here but it is at the Minneapolis airport so of course we were going to get it! I just love their chicken here and the waffle fries are so good, especially with honey mustard and ranch!

I got the 8 piece Nugget with Waffle Fries.

These were delicious except for one piece which was rock hard!

For dessert there was a stand with Talenti Gelato. I ordered Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip gelato. This was amazing. Corey and I both devoured this. The chocolate chunks were very fine chocolate pieces and the black raspberry was a strong, sweet raspberry flavor. If anyone has had Graeter's Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, this is what it tasted like.

I then had the delicious Delta pretzels and water on the flight:thumbsup2

Next up: Boma Breakfast!

Next up: Boma Breakfast

Our breakfast was pretty early this morning at 8:35am. We really didn't want to bus it there so Corey got us a cab! I went and checked into our package and when I came back there was a taxi for us. That was a first for us. I loved how when we took the taxis everyone opened the door for us at the hotel.

It was amazing taking a cab right there instead of hopping on a bus to AK and then a bus to AKL. We were then hooked on cabs!

I checked in and they didn't have my reservation. She looked for like 5 minutes and then just sat us anyways. After I sat down, I realized we booked it under Corey's name. OOpsie!!

Here is Corey's first plate. He absolutely loves that banana bread.

Here is my first plate.

This included the hugest disappointment ever- the goat cheese scrambled eggs. Now I had these two year ago and was obsessed with them. So much so that I even though about canceling this ressie after MickeyNicky posted they didn't have the goat cheese eggs anymore. So I took a huge portion and they were awful! They tasted really funky, were very liquidy and were lukewarm. The ham and the asparagus were both very good. Actually the ham here is amazing.

Corey's second plate.

Coffee and Jungle Juice:)

I took some bobotie, fruit, and more goat cheese eggs!!

I took the eggs to see if maybe the first batch was bad. Nope, still gross!

The bobotie was interesting and the fruit was ok.

I also tried some yogurt with bananas and strawberries in it.
IMG_1520.jpg

the yogurt was a honey flavored yogurt and there was barely any fruit in it. The yogurt was very thin. It was a good flavor but it needed to be thicker and have more fruit in it.

All in all, I didn't love this breakfast. I really enjoyed it 2 years ago but I didn't really care for it this time. I probably wouldn't go back again. The only good thing is its price. It is only $18.99 pp, which isn't too bad. I do love the atmosphere here though. It is such a pretty classy buffet. I especially love the AK Lodge. I want to stay here someday.

At Animal Kingdom I had one of the most amazing things ever, which I will be getting every trip from now on...

The...

Jalapeno Cheese Pretzel!

This thing was so good. It was hot and perfectly cooked. The cheese was not too spicy, so if you are worried about it being too spicy it won't be. My friend Emily got one and she despises spicy food. She ate it and liked it!

The cheese in the middle was really good white cheese. There wasn't a lot of cheese in the middle, just enough.

Breakfast at Boma looks delicious. Your review just made me even more excited to go (if that was possible).

I think I remember you! What is this Surdyk's Flights? I am flying out next Wed so maybe I can check it out then QUOTE]

Surydks is a wine and gourmet foods shop with awesome cheese boards, sandwiches, and pastry. It is really good to sit and eat or grab and go a homemade pretzel or bagel, really good way to start a fun trip! They have a store in Minneapolis I am addidcted to all things cheese so I have searched out all good cheese shops in Minnesota :rotfl: Definately try it out if you have time!

Corey is just like Todd, double helping of Boma banana bread ;)

I cannot believe you had the goat cheese eggs and they were terrible...first off I wish I had them but then again if they were not good I am glad I had the ham and cheese eggs instead!

I have made the goat cheese chive eggs alot at home but I can never get them as wonderful as the ones from Boma, 2 years ago :rotfl:

Good, I am glad. I hope you like it!

Yum, I will have to check that out. I love homemade pretzels!

I should have tried the banana bread! I was in one of those moods where the thought of eating more made me sick and I wasn't even full. I just wasn't that hungry for this meal yet (not in the Disney food groove yet, lol!)

I can't believe they weren't good either. I swear they have to be different because I loooved them last time and I am sure my taste buds didn't change!:rotfl:

My plans tonight were to go to Wolfgang Puck Express and use counter service credits.

Buuutt...my plans changed and I forced Emily to go to Kona Island Sushi Bar with me! I have been dying to go here since my 2011 trips but never got the opportunity to.

I ended up paying OOP for this meal, both Emily and I did, and I am p'oed about it because I had one extra table service at the end that I could have used for it. We canceled our last breakfast, which is where I was going to use it. So I basically wasted $26.

Anyways, Kona Island Sushi Bar is an extension of Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. They have sushi and you can order Kona's desserts. It is kind of an island like thing in the Polynesian lobby and you can sit at the sushi bar and eat while you watch the sushi chefs. My one complain here is the bar isn't very cozy. The bar table top is very narrow and not all of the chairs have backs on the chairs.

I requested the Kona Bread and Butter. People are not kidding when they say this is amazing. The butter was honestly one of the most delicious things I have ever had. It was cold, creamy, sweet, and tasted freshly made. The texture was amazing!!!!! I told the server I was going to lick the butter dish clean:rotfl2: and he told me he loves it too! The bread was good too, much better than 'Ohana but the butter is what makes it. If I could order this in quarts to go I would have!

I ordered the Volcano Roll, which is spicy tuna, shrimp salad, and tempura crunch. I loved watching the sushi chef make this. I tried to take a picture of him making this and he told me to wait until he turned it around to the pretty side so he could pose.:)
IMG_1767.jpg

I really liked this sushi I just wish the outside layer was rice and not seaweed I didn't love that seaweed on the outside. I prefer the outer layer being rice and the seaweed being inside. The spicy tune wasn't as spicy as I would like but I really liked the tempura crunch. The crab salad was really good too and had a nice kick!:thumbsup2 I loved the tuna chunks sticking out of the top. I think I found a newfound obsession with tuna.

IMG_1769.jpg

Emily ordered the California Luau Roll with crabmeat, pineapple, and avocado. I think she liked it. It looked yummy! She gave her wasabi as I am a wasabi feign! I load the wasabi up on each sushi piece.
IMG_1770.jpg

IMG_1771.jpg

I then had to decide on dessert. The two choices were the coffee panna cotta or the chocolate banana creme brulee. The creme brulee won out because Corey and Emily both voted for that. Sorry for multiple pics. New camera= me playing with different angles
IMG_1773.jpg

IMG_1776.jpg

This was honestly the BEST creme brulee I have had on property. That chocolate layer on the bottom was sooo good and the creme part was so good, cold and creamy. The brulee was a perfectly torched brulee. The bruleed banana was also great! I would order this again in a heartbeat.

I give Kona Island Sushi Bar a 4/4! I will be back, even if it is by myself!
