6 AM Flight & Luggage

Due to ridiculously high airfare, we're considering taking the 6 AM flight home. I'm anticipating this to mean that DME will have us leave the resort around 3 AM. I know luggage drop off opens at 5 and you have to drop off your bags and check in no less than 3 hours before your flight. Is it possible to check into our flight and check our bags the night before?

This is probably very wishful thinking on my part, but TIA!

I don't think POPs luggage assistance operates 24/7. You'll probably have to schlep your bags to the DME bus stop.

If you were staying at a more expensive resort I'd consider staying at an airport hotel your last night. I don't think you'll save enough to be worth the trouble.

That was something we were considering too. This actually was a day later than our original checkout date (from Beach Club) so we were planning to just stay a night at All Star anyway. Is there an airport hotel you’d recommend? My husband isn’t coming so it’s just me and the kids (older teen and 4-year-old), so I was apprehensive about trying a new place off-site.

We did this once, with two babies and a 3-year old. Miserable experience. Major con.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It certainly doesn’t sound pleasant. As of now, I’m leaning toward coughing up the extra $300 to take the 4:00 flight the day before. After the $140 for the extra night, it’s only $160 more to not have to deal with all that stress.

The hyatt in the airport is pricey but convenient. Otherwise shop on price. You'll be checking out before any included breakfast is available. Check hotels shuttle schedule. The less expensive hotels dont offer 24 hour shuttle service. A taxi or Uber may offset any savings.

I'd never even contemplate a 6 am flight home if I wasn't staying AT the Hyatt at MCO. We fly to Disney at 6 am often but stay at the airport hotel then too, combine it with our parking. We'll be checking in tomorrow night actually, with a 5 min walk to the airport. That's the only way to fly early.

We've done the Hyatt a few times, typically when flying in late. It can be pricey or it can be cheaper, their rates fluctuate greatly.
