6/6/15 Norwegian Fjords Inaugural Cruise...just back!

Thanks Flossbolna for looking up this excursion. You are amazing! We are very excited to do this excursion. I think ferry rides will definitely break up the bus rides.

When was chocolate hunt held? Sea days?

It goes over three days and you get clues every day in the Navigator. For us it was Frozen day and the two days before. You will get a sheet in your room with the Navigators the evening before it starts to collect all the clues on. They even kept all the clues around from day one and two, so in case you miss one. I am pretty sure one would get the treat with or without having filled in the sheet, but it was fun!

We did B2B May 30 Baltic and June 6 Fjords. Wow...what a fantastic trip! Norway is gorgeous! We stayed at the airport Hilton the night of our arrival and took a taxi to the port the next morning. Very convenient hotel after a long night of travel and very easy way to get to the port. Post cruise, we spent two nights at the Marriott. Good service and walking distance to the city center, Tivoli and canal tours. We saw plenty of DCL cruisers at both hotels and even cruise director Brent (and his family) were at the Marriott.

When was chocolate hunt held? Sea days?

It was held on between Tuesday and Thursday, if I remember it right, we always went to look for the clues before the evening show. Then on the last day (Saturday) in the morning you got your reward :)

We stayed at Charlottehavn in Osterbro. This is a residential area near the cruise terminals. We could see the Magic when she was in port and walked to her on embarkation day with all of our stuff and 2 kids, including a 3 year old who refuses to ride in a stroller. We had a two bedroom flat with a kitchen and living room for about 400$ a night. The hotel has a wonderful restaurant and you can have smorebrod room service. I found it curious that I did not see other cruise passengers at this hotel. We stayed one night before the cruise and 3 nights after.

My preschooler and my husband did the Hadaestra farm in Gerainger also and loved it. My 9 year old and I did the Rib boats. We also walked to the viewpoint before the excursions.

Norway and Copenhagen are fabulous. I envy those of you on the 9 night. You will have a wonderful time. My kids are already asking to go back to Scandanavia.

I'm arriving in the late afternoon the day before my cruise and staying at that airport Hilton. Is the walking path from airport to hotel easy to find? How much was your taxi ride to the port? I'm wondering if the taxi would be more cost-effective for me than getting the DCL transfer from the airport to port. Sometimes DCL's transfers are the cheapest option for a solo traveler.

We were also on this cruise. We stayed at the Tivoli the night before and took DCL transportation to the ship. It was so nice not having to lug our luggage to the ship in a taxi. [GALLERY=] We had to get 2 rooms for 3 of us. The hotel was very nice and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. We also ate dinner there the night we arrived. It was a 20-30[/GALLERY] minute walk from the Tivoli to the City Hall, but wasn't difficult. It seemed like we walked from one end to the other our 4 days in Copenhagen.

It's easy to find the airport Hilton...maybe a 10 minute walk from luggage claim...and the "path" is all indoors. The taxi to the port was reasonably priced...around $30. We used a credit card, no problem.

Norway IS gorgeous. You are so right about that. I loved it, too. Copenhagen was great. Lots to see.

Just wondering why you had to get two rooms? We had three people and were offered a choice of a room for three or four. Possibly they were sold out when you booked?

The taxi to the ship was simple. No lugging of anything. Porters took it upon arrival and taxi driver took it at the airport. We did nothing!!!

When I called DCL that is all they had to offer. 2 rooms at the Tivoli was still less expensive than one room at the Radisson. I didn't have to do anything either. Bell service picked up our bags from our room and we didn't see them until later in the afternoon outside our stateroom. Didn't even need to mess with porters.

To all those leaving tomorrow on your cruise....Happy Sailing! May you enjoy each and every port and take more photos than you could ever imagine taking! Wish I were going with you. Bon Voyage!

Yes, I was in total shock when I realised that I had nearly 2000 pictures after a one week vacation!!

But I agree with your post: Hope everyone is having a great time visiting Norway with the Disney Magic!!

I know exactly what you mean. I spent the better part of yesterday downloading over 5000 photos from our 12 day trip.

Bon Voyage! You will love Norway!

My family really enjoyed the Lysefjord cruise. Dress warmly as it is best to go upstairs on the boat as soon as possible and get to the front. It's windy and cool but the best views. We were really cold but we brought gloves, hats and multiple layers under wind proof jackets. Weather may be warmer when you're there.

Alesund....we did Path of the Trolls. I would not do a full day tour again as you miss the quaint towns. I would probably do it on my own next time.

Bergen...absolutely Mt. floein on your own. A trip by train to the Stave Church is nice, too. Make sure you visit the fish market. I don't eat fish but it was nice to see. They will cook food for you right there.

We were going to do Views of Norway but then the Farm opened up which we loved. Views of Norway would be good, too. I don't know anything about the other one. Whatever you do, you will have fun! Bring lots of memory for your camera.

The pools were all open and heated. Not many kids in them as it was cold to get out but some did partake. I think they went through a lot more hot chocolate than normal.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciated hearing your perspective!

A zip bag and umbrella currently The triangle shaped bag, there is a photo on it in one of the recent trip reports, you hold it over your shoulder so should cover you.

Though test it out when you get it. Several people on our ship had theirs break mid-excursion. It's the part where the shoulder strap clips to the bottom. Give it a good tug and make sure it holds. Mine broke, went to guest services, they replaced it (fortunately I was still in my cabin, not hauling stuff out on an excursion!)
