6/29/15 Magic to Norway & Iceland

Hi All,
Apparently we were lucky enough to book a cabin on this awesome cruise today... :hyper: We are in a GTY. It's me and my dd (9yo)...

Now I am panicking about getting the airfare...:worried: Flying from S. Florida. Gatwick or Heathrow? Any suggestions will be forever appreciated.

Thanks

:welcome: aboard! I got your PM :goodvibes We are flying from Miami to Heathrow and connecting there to CPH. If you go that route give yourself plenty of time to connect. LHR can be a mad house :rotfl:

Good afternoon fellow cruisers!

The page one post with the information for signing up to join the Fish Extender group and Secret Mickey has been edited by the moderator. A new Disboard rule was implemented today which can be found as a sticky on the Cruise Meets page. It states:

IMPORTANT!! Policy regarding Cruise Meet and Fish Extender programs.
It has come to our attention that our members have received solicitations to post their information on other sites including Facebook and Google Docs.

We have had complaints from several members that these turned out to be solicitations from travel agencies and other forms of advertising.
We have examined the policy of other cruise forums and have found that they have policies forbidding this.

In order to protect our members the DIS Webmasters have decided to institute a similar policy. Moving forward there will be a new infraction "Attempting to lure DIS members to post private information on other sites". It will be a 40 point violation.

We also encourage DIS members to let us know if they are solicited via private message or any other means.

As always, the safety of our guests is our number one priority.

I have reached out to the moderator for suggestions on an alternative means of organizing a Fish Extender Exchange and Secret Mickey. Once I have a response, I will touch base with the organizers to coordinate a means, approved by the moderator, that doesn't violate the new rule. I will then re-post the information on page one and as a new post. Thank you for your patience.

Hi! We flew Virgin LGW to MCO this past Feb and it was pretty straight forward. It depends on how you want to get to CPH. EasyJet flies there from Gatwick, so you could connect that way (changing airlines you'd have to leave a bit of time to account for possible delays plus Immigration and baggage), while SAS (also pretty cheap) flies from LHR (so BA and more of the legacy airlines to to Heathrow).

We live in the UK so we just need the one-way flight, but we're planning to fly with EasyJet as they're my favourite budget airline. I did check SAS and they have some super cheap flights too!

In terms of getting to the airports, both are easy. Let me know if you want more exact options (we fly out of both at least once per year!).

It is only 62 days until the first group can book shore excursions etc. Any idea when the rest of the ports will be showing. We were disappointed with Oslo. There were more options in 2010 when we did the Baltic.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!:wizard: This year we will be cruising to Norway and Iceland together! I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed thinking about booking shore excursion, and oh my, that final payment is going to hurt! :scared1: At least we got opening day prices!

Has anyone found a good private tour company for Oslo? In looking at the DCL Port Adventures for Oslo, there isn't one that covers everything I would like to see in Oslo ((Viking Ship Museum, Con-Tiki Museum, possibly Fram Museum, Stave Church at the outdoor folk museum, Vigelund sculpture park, the Scream, maybe Holmenkollen ski jump). I realize it is likely not feasible to do all of these things during our port stop, but I would like to do as many as possible. We might try to do it on our own, but I would prefer a private tour. I am also considering signing up for the Oslo by Private Vehicle PA and extending the time so we can cover as many of these as possible, but I suspect a private tour not through DCL might be less expensive. Also, if anyone has found a good private tour and is willing to share, we are a party of 4. Thanks!

THis will be our second trip to Olso. We have decided to do the hop on hop off bus.

We are making progress!:cool1:

I'm expecting to see more excursion offerings for Reykjavik as it gets closer to our booking window. Looking at the offerings, the durations reflect the shorter time the TATL cruisers are in that port. I'd think we'd get some evening offerings since we're there overnight.

This will be our first time to Oslo, but we are also leaning towards the HOHO bus. Since you've been before, any tips or suggestions about what not to miss? (There's 8 of us, 3 young boys, 5 adults).
